ABOUT ME Hello, I’m Rini Bobby. I’m an Architect still learning architecture from the world around me. I came to this profession with an interest in creating things that could touch people, bring change to their lives, or maybe just add a little novelty to the mundane. A beam of light, a little colour, or a window that changed every- thing about how I felt — these seemed worthy of thought. In my projects, I try to understand what is already there and let it guide the design. I like the idea of existing elements finding new purpose, becoming part of something bigger without losing what made them worth keeping. Dubai | +971555379350 | http://www.linkedin.com/in/rini-bobby

rinibobby1010@gmail.com 4 This project is a design component developed within a broader campus redevelopment mas- terplan: a new cafeteria. My scope covers this element in depth, while the surrounding plan — site-wide circulation, building program, and infrastructure — was developed as part of the larger scheme. rinibobby1010@gmail.com 5 SITE PLAN WITH EARTH FILLING Site Concept — Working with the Slope. The site is a sloping plot typical of Kerala's midland topography. Rather than flattening the terrain, the design treats the natural levels as the primary gener- ator of the scheme. Existing levels are retained and used as the base for circulation: movement flows along and between the level.STEP UP STEP UP +65 lvl BLOCK 1 BLOCK 2 BLOCK 3 BLOCK 4 BLOCK 5 RESULTANT SPACE EVOLVED AS PER ZONING RAMP RAMP UP UP 0 LVL +15 LVL +30 LVL +45 LVL 430.6589 PLANTER BOX The cafeteria's structural expression is deliberately honest and lightweight: an exposed steel frame ofcolumns and beams.Jali screens — perforated panels used as infill and shading — wrap the key elevations, filter- ing the strong Kerala sunlight into soft, dappled light across the dining floor while allowing natural cross-ventilation to pass through. The combination of the open steel skeleton and the per- meable jali creates a building that feels structurally honest and cli- matically responsive: solid where it needs to carry load, porous where it needs to breathe.

A place for people to gather, while giving the Arts College its own identity within the larger campus. The design brings together nature and built elements to create an open space that can become enclosed when needed. Above all, it is a place to pause, take in one's surroundings, and perhaps connect with them on a deeper level.

rinibobby1010@gmail.com 16 GROUND FLOOR PLAN The design was conceived as a response to the constraints of a compact trapezoidal site and uses it as the defining element of the design. The irregular geometry of the plot inspired the composition of interlocking volumes, giving the impression of stacked boxes in its elevations and views.
rinibobby1010@gmail.com 17 FIRST FLOOR PLAN The design explores the use of natural light and the shadows it casts throughout the day in design. Placed along the eastern edge of the plot, the staircase serves not only as a functional element but also creates a sense of drama within the interiors.
