Hi ya , My name is ... Emily Vink As an aspiring architect, I value and hope to undertake design that is considerate and an enhancement to how people dwell within it. Here I can offer a pragmatic point of view on the team’s construction design, with well-considered programming in response to site and context. Besides my interest in architecture and design I find joy in volunteering and giving back to my community. Weekly involvement as a Local Girl Guide leader and at my Local sporting club help me to be an active member in my community. Working for a few family-owned small businesses in my younger years has opened my work mindset and attitude to teamwork, responsibility and effective productivity. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Architectural Studies at the University of South Australia and currently enrolled in the Master of Architecture course, with a special interest in the design and construction programs. Scheduled to complete DMAE in 2023 I believe I have experience and can achieve competency in using Microsoft office, Microsoft Projects, Hand Drawing, Revit, Enscape, sketch up and Adobe Suite. I still have a lot to learn in presentation and rendering of proposed designs and cannot wait to continually improve my skills. Construction in the WorkshopSP4 2022 During the semester break of 2022, I enrolled in UniSA’s Construction in the Workshop elective. The Workshop was an exciting environment that held lots of opportunities for personal learning and development in a construction environment. The Current Project that is in progress is focus- ing on the provision of remote toilets and shower for Martins Well Reserve in the Flinders Ranges. During this elective I was took interest towards the form and function of the project’s breezeway. Practical exposure during an active project where the design involved in manipulating the circulations space to provide elegances and privacy. My group was allocated and was responsible for continuing to construct the next lot of framing and installing the curved bearers. This required us to prepare, cut, drill, and connect structural and non-structural members to what was left by previous students. This course has provided a practical experience to learn and develop my architectural and construction knowledge. Special thanks to Joti and David for their guidance, support, and patience throughout the course.

Construction On SiteSP4 2022 Following the Workshop elective, I set off with another lot of students, to visit and work on-site as a part of Unisa’s Design Construct on site. During the time on site, we documented and made design decisions for the remote toilets and shower project for Martins Well Reserve. These new amenities will hopefully have the potential to support more tourism within these rural areas. These special experiences will be cherished forever, nightly chat after a great day at work, with our own private campfire, under the endless milky way. Here is what I got up to over the week; - Weavers Hut: Site measure-up, site planning, profiling, and digging footings. - Shearing Shed: Measure up of existing structure. - Tooth Nob: Deconstruction of amenities, new site structural plan, and digging footings. - Artipena: Amendments to door locks This was a very valuable experience to work with a close group of architectural students on a somewhat local project. Learning from others and engaging in conversations is something that has been tricky to encounter in the past few years due to the constant interruption of covid restrictions.

Connecting with community STUDIO 7 | Advanced Architectural Design Studio (Environment) Master of Architecture DMAE This studio was unique in its adoption of the following design processes to realise an environmentally ‘appropriate’ cultural centre building proposition for Ngadjuri Nation. It invited us students to engage in specific design strategies to realise essential outcomes for their professional development. This Studio draws upon First Nations peoples’ worldviews and the concept of Country to realise an alternative way of conceptualising human environments as a contrast to this model for urban form of the Cartesian grid a legacy of Roman military planning. The key aspect of difference in thinking is a holistic way of being-in-the-world whereby everything is connected.
