ABOUT THE COVER ALS GRADUATION SY 2025-2026 The Third Quarter of 2026 showcased meaningful milestones for the Makati City Jail community—from the vibrant celebration of Buwan ng Wika 2026 and Lakan at Lakambini, to the continued unity between the Female and Male Dormitories. Another significant milestone was the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Graduation 2026, celebrating the perseverance and determination of PDL who continued their educational journey. Their graduation represents more than an academic achievement; it symbolizes hope, second chances, and the courage to pursue a better future. ISO Internal Audit reaffirmed the commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. JINSP ROSELYN B RIVERA ACTING WARDEN EDITOR-IN-CHIEF WARDEN MESSAGE ALS GRADUATION 2026It is with great pride and gratitude that I welcome you to this edition of Life Behind Bars, a newsletter that reflects the stories, accomplishments, and meaningful moments within the Makati City Jail – Female Dormitory. Behind the walls of our facility are stories of courage, transformation, and hope. Through Buwan ng Wika, Lakan at Lakambini, ALS Graduation, our partnership with the Makati City Jail – Male Dormitory, and the ISO Internal Audit, we continue to demonstrate that growth and positive change remain possible even behind bars. These milestones remind us that rehabilitation goes beyond safekeeping. It is about creating opportunities for learning, strengthening values, promoting well-being, and preparing every PDL for a better tomorrow. But our mission does not end within the walls of the jail. The spirit of service, compassion, and hope must reach beyond our gates and extend to the families, partners, stakeholders, and communities we serve. Through collaboration and meaningful community engagement, we can build stronger bridges between the jail and society and create greater opportunities for reintegration and positive change. As we move forward, let us not simply celebrate our achievements—let us build on them. Let every lesson become an action, every achievement an inspiration, and every challenge an opportunity to serve better. Let us continue to work together with integrity, discipline, compassion, and commitment, creating a community where every person is given the opportunity to grow, change, and hope. “Behind Bars, Hope Lives”
