Faith is a grade 3 learner, she loves participating in class and she has the brightest personality. One day, a girl called Mia moved to the community, she is also a Grade 3 learner and is placed in a class with Faith. Mia is very strong willed, straight forward and can be very bossy at times.
Very soon, Mia starts to show unkind behaviour towards Faith. Mia starts picking on Faith and bothers her everyday. During class when the teacher stepped outside, Mia threw her pencils on the ground and shouted at Faith to pick it up.
As the bullying continued everyday, Mrs Muller who is Faith’s teacher, noticed that she is no longer enthuastic and does not participate in class anymore. Especially during arts and craft which is Faith’s favourite subjectThen Mrs Muller asked Faith if there was anything she wanted to share, but Faith shrugged her shoulders and said “No teacher, im just tired.”
Mrs Muller had collected Coco-Cola bottles for arts and craft lessons, these were displayed in the classroom. However, Mia saw this as an opportunity to mess with Faith.
Mia started hitting Faith on her knees with the Coco-Cola bottles. This bad and unkind behaviour continued for a week, Faith felt sad and miserable. How could somebody do this to her, she wondered.
One day, Mia picked up the Coco-Cola bottle and wanted to hit Faith. With much surprise, Faith jolted up and shouted, “Don’t do that to me!”, and ran to tell her teacher what unkind things Mia has been doing to her. Mrs Muller was shocked and very dissapointed in Mia.
After the teacher had spoken to Mia about bullying and how her actions made Faith feel, Mia understood and was terribly sorry. She had realized that what she went through at her old school was exactly what she does to Faith at this school.
Mia apologised to Faith for all the unkind things she did. Faith accepted her apology and her bright personality slowly returned. Although Faith was still a bit sad about what happened, she asked Mia to be her friend and Mia happily agreed. This is a non fiction story, this event is true, however, characters names were changed.
