The client desired a modern aesthetic with aging-in-place upgrades. We removed the awkward tub/shower base, expanded the shower footprint to include a lower threshold entry, enlarged the hallway door from 24” wise to 32”, and added safety amenities like grab bars, a hand-held shower wand, and additional LED lighting. We eliminated outdated soffits to lift the feel of the 8’ ceiling. A new sit-down vanity gives a separate space for make-up and hair care, which also provides more natural light to filter in from the long window previously blocked by tall utility cabinets. We re-worked storage space with a base cabinet for linens, paired with a long counter wall cabinet. The Euro frameless horizontal grain new cabinetry, along with bold furniture mirrors, black and brushed bronze plumbing fixtures provides a sleek contemporary vibe to update the bathroom into a spa-like retreat.
