“One of the main reasons why communities fail to take action on animal welfare is the lack of awareness and understanding. Some people may not know how serious animal abuse and neglect are or how they can help. Because of this, fewer people are willing to volunteer or participate in activities that support animal welfare. Even when people are aware of the problem, some may choose to ignore it because they think it is not their responsibility. This lack of participation makes animal welfare problems harder to solve. Without enough volunteers, animal shelters may struggle to feed and care for abandoned animals. Rescue groups may also have difficulty responding to cases of animal abuse and neglect. To address this problem, communities can organize awareness campaigns, volunteer programs, and donation drives. Schools and barangays can also encourage people to participate in animal feeding, rescue, and adoption activities.

In the light of faith, we are called to show compassion and care for all of God’s creation. Caring for animals is one way of practicing kindness and being responsible stewards of the world entrusted to us. Instead of simply knowing that a problem exists, we should take small but meaningful actions to help. By encouraging others to volunteer and showing concern for animals in need, we can build a community that values both awareness and action.
