ANNUAL REPORT FY2026 July 2025 - June 2026
Dear LexMedia Members, Supporters, and Lexington Community, It is my pleasure to share LexMedia’s FY2026 Annual Report and to look back on another incredible year of community media here in Lexington. This year was a reminder of what makes LexMedia so special. We covered hundreds of events, meetings, celebrations, performances, games, and community moments through town this year. Some were major productions watched by thousands and others were small events watched by a dedicated few. Together, they tell the story of Lexington and the people who make this community what it is. Once again, Patriots’ Day provided an opportunity to showcase Lexington on one of its biggest days of the year. Following the historic 250 anniversary of the Battle of Lexington in 2025, our team returned in 2026 to provide extensive coverage of Patriots’ Day and continue a tradition that has become on of LexMedia’s largest productions each year. th Last year’s efforts surrounding Lex250 received national recognition this year. Community Director Rick Dorrington received a 2026 Hometown Media Award from the Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media for coverage of the Lex250 Visitors Center Video Unveiling, winning in the Community Events General category. Recognition like this is especially meaningful because it reflects the talent of our staff and the importance of documenting the people, events, and history of Lexington. But our work goes far beyond any single event. Throughout FY2026, our staff covered local government meetings, events at Lexington schools, high school athletics, cultural celebrations, community organizations, musical performances, and events across town. We continued producing original programming like LexLocal while giving residents, students, volunteers, and local organizations the resources and platform to tell their own stories. We also continued looking toward the future of community media. While our Public, Education, and Government channels remain an important part of our mission, more and more viewers are discovering LexMedia through live streams, YouTube, OnDemand videos, podcasts, and social media. Our goal is not to leave traditional community television behind, but to make the work we produce accessible to Lexington wherever people choose to watch it.
Terry Samaras Executive Director, LexMedia FY2026 was personally meaningful as I stepped into the role of Executive Director after nearly fifteen years at LexMedia. Having grown with this organization, starting first as Intern and rising to Executive Director, I have seen firsthand how much LexMedia means to the people who use our studios, watch our coverage, volunteer at the Media Center, learn from staff, and trust us to document their community. I am incredibly proud of our staff and grateful to the Board of Directors, volunteers, members, community partners, and Lexingtonians who continues to support our work. I would also be remiss if I didn’t recognize former Executive Director Florence DelSanto for her nearly twenty years of leadership at LexMedia. Florence played an important role in LexMedia’s growth and helped shape the organization into the success that it is today. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to work alongside her and thankful for her guidance and advice throughout the years. I wish her all the best in future endeavors. As we look toward the next year, I am excited about where LexMedia is headed. There is a tremendous opportunity for us to expand our programming, reach new audiences, create more opportunities for community participation, and continue evolving what a community media organization can be. Thank you for watching, participating, supporting us, and allowing LexMedia to continue telling Lexington’s story.

Programming and Highlights Hours of Programming by Channel LPTV LGTV LETV 496 619 433 Throughout FY2026, LexMedia continued to provide a wide variety of programming across our Public, Education, and Government channels, highlighting the people, organizations, and events that make Lexington such a vibrant community. From local government meetings and school events to high school athletics, cultural celebrations and original productions, our staff worked throughout the year to document and share the stories that matter to Lexington residents. Our programming remained consistent across all three channels, reflecting our commitment to providing comprehensive coverage of the community. In addition to our traditional cable broadcasts, we continued expanding our digital presence through live-streaming and on-demand content, making our programming more accessible to viewers both within Lexington and beyond. The following breakdown illustrate the distribution of programming hours across LexMedia’s three channels during FY2026:
LGTV: Government Astound 15, Astound HD 629, Astound Digital 1125, Comcast 22, Verizon 37, Verizon HD 2135 The Government Channel, LGTV, serves as an essential source for coverage of the town’s numerous governmental bodies, including committees, sub-committees, and boards. This service is particularly valuable to Lexington residents who value transparency and inclusion in local governance. The continuation of state and local mandates permitting virtual meetings has enabled LexMedia to maintain full coverage of government proceedings. Meetings are now covered through multiple formats—in person, over Zoom, and in hybrid combinations that blend both in- person and virtual participation. Ensuring wide public access to this government content is a top priority to LexMedia. Most town meetings are broadcast live on our channel and simultaneously streamed live on our website. To accommodate the diverse schedules of our residents, these programs are repeated at least three additional times within the following week. For viewers who are unable to view the live broadcast or the scheduled repeats, access remains simple and immediate. All recorded meetings are made available on LexMedia's online On-Demand service, allowing residents to watch at their convenience. High-interest meetings are also made available on our YouTube channel, further expanding the reach and accessibility of local government information to the community. Residents continued to be interested in meetings about the proposed new high school. As the new high school project neared kick-off, there were fewer School Building Committee meetings, leading to a slight decline in government programming hours produced by LexMedia. The School Building Committee met 22 times this year, a significant drop from the 33 in FY2025. That said, the ability to view the meetings OnDemand was valuable to members of the community who could not attend the meetings held in the middle of the day.
Annual and Special Town Meeting, Planning Board, School Committee, Select Board, Town Meeting Members Association In summary, LexMedia broadcast an impressive 222 meetings. All meetings were live whenever technically feasible. Affordable Housing Trust, Board of Appeals, Board of Health, Budget Presentations, CAC Verizon Contract Meeting, Conservation Commission, Financial Summit I/II/III, Historic Districts Commission, Historical Commission, LexHab, Lexington Human Services, Munroe Center Summer Stage Project Community Conversation, Permanent Building Committee, Planning Board, School Building Committee, School Building Committee Student Presentations, School Building Committee PTO Discussion Panel, Sustainable Middlesex with Mike Barrett, TMMA, Waste Reduction Forum Additional Meetings: Contractually Required Meetings:
Government Programming Hours FY2024 - FY2026 The graph above shows a three-year comparison of LexMedia government channel programming from FY2024 – FY2026, broken down by content produced by LexMedia and content produced by other sources. The Government Channel (LGTV) has maintained consistent programming over the three-year period averaging approximately 505 hours annually. LexMedia produces 84% of all government channel content; though this is a decrease from FY2025, this is in line with the amount of content produced in FY2023 (not shown above), and shows a renewed commitment to airing more programming from the MA House of Representatives. While total programming hours decreased slightly from 502 hours in FY2025 to 497 hours in FY2026, this decline is primarily attributed to the decrease in the number of School Building Committee meetings as the project neared kick-off, as well as the decreased coverage of the Human Rights Committee. Additionally, we only covered eight fewer meetings in FY2026 than in FY2025, which indicates that the average government meeting length has decreased.LGTV LexMedia Produced LGTV non-LexMedia Produced FY2024 FY2025 FY2026 0 100 200 300 400 500 600 496 463 39 417 80 21

LexMedia was there to document this milestone, capturing the numerous events, ceremonies, and community gatherings that marked the occasion. We worked closely with the numerous town committees and other media partners to ensure comprehensive coverage of this anniversary. Our coverage of the reenactment of the Battle of Lexington this year resulted in over 10,000 views. Thanks to shifting management and staff limitations, LexMedia made the difficult decision to pause our news show, LexLocal, in the second half of FY2026. We plan to return to our bi-monthly production in mid-FY2027 with renewed excitement and a new format. Arts and entertainment programming remain the backbone of the Public Channel. Here is a breakdown of the categories we covered: Town-Wide Celebrations:

Over the past three years, LexMedia has shifted toward producing more in-house content with great success. LexMedia-produced content increased by 10% from FY2025 to FY2026 alone, growing from 195 hours to 216. This reflects our commitment to narrative-driven programming and comprehensive coverage of major events such as America250, as well as our endeavor to increase our video podcast content, which has been a great success. We now have three regular video podcasts, and plan to increase this number in FY2027.LPTV LexMedia Produced LPTV non-LexMedia Produced FY2024 FY2025 FY2026 0 100 200 300 400 500 600 700 205 436 195 402 216 402
LETV: Education Astound 13, Astound HD 614, Astound Digital 1124, Comcast 9, Verizon 36 The Education Channel offers a wide variety of both educational and youth- produced programming and is home to all our programming from the town school system. Last year, we recorded over 40 concerts and theatrical performances and 23 sports events. Sports coverage is particularly labor-intensive, requiring a dedicated team of camera operators and announcers on-site for each game, followed by editing to produce a polished final product. The education channel also broadcasts programs of interest to life-long learners, such as various lectures and presentations from Cary Memorial Library, Cary Lecture Series, Lexington History Museum, and the Lexington Community Center.
Education Programming Hours FY2024- FY2026 The Education Channel has experienced impressive growth in LexMedia-produced programming. Though the total programming hours are the same as FY2025, LexMedia-produced programming grew 5% in FY2026 for a total of 115 hours. This increase is likely due to our impressive coverage of school concerts, which doubled this year. Our role focuses on the most labor-intensive programming, particularly sports coverage. Additionally, we provide technical support and facilities for school- produced content and community educational programming.LETV LexMedia Produced LETV non-LexMedia Produced FY2024 FY2025 FY2026 0 100 200 300 400 500 109 325 95 337 115 319
Marketing Efforts LexMedia has consistently showcased our programming and classes on social media and through email marketing since 2018. Since then, both areas have continued to show demonstrable growth in both audience numbers and engagement – highlighting the fact that when the Lexington community hears from LexMedia, they’re interested in what we have to say. FY2026 was a particularly robust year for LexMedia in both areas thanks to our increased use of short form content. By leveraging the skills of our staff, we’ve created an increased number of horizontal videos, allowing us to both reach new audiences and engage with our existing community. LexMedia’s social media presence continues to increase on all platforms. The most significant increase in followers has been on Facebook and Instagram, and we have maintained a steady growth trajectory on YouTube. The LexMedia Facebook page grew to 1,929 total subscribers – a 35% increase from FY2026 – while the Instagram account increased 30% from last year, to a total of 1,383 followers. The most popular posts on both platforms include: our extensive Patriots’ Day coverage; youth-related videos; high school athletics; and the beloved LHS pre-prom red carpet and subsequent graduation. Patriots’ Day: Marketing Metrics Continuing our approach from last year, LexMedia’s Patriots’ Day content was posted in real-time throughout the weekend. This approach once again boosted our engagement, especially on Facebook. Having more content for viewers to find and engage with during a high-interest event is an approach that pays off. Unsurprisingly, YouTube numbers did not reach the same level as in 2025, but they are exceeding 2024. Notably, we learned that the majority of viewers watch our Patriots’ Day coverage on their televisions, which may impact how we want to approach our coverage going forward. Additionally, we utilized YouTube shorts this year, which turned out to be a way to reach a new, younger audience. Facebook feed posts were LexMedia’s strongest performers this year. Numbers were the highest seen in three years, and one post was the best of all time, with nearly 50,000 views and an engagement rate of 4.3% - significantly higher than the industry average of 0.15%. Our most popular content featured photos/video from the reenactments; given the popularity of this specific content, it’s worth planning multiple forms of content focusing on the reenactments in future years. The majority of our social media posts leveraged photos taken by our photographer, Jason Ross. This was the first time we used an outside photographer; not only did it allow our staff to focus on production, it also meant that photos were delivered extremely fast, allowing us to have striking, professional photos to use throughout the event. The fact that 2026 was not the semiquincentennial year both worked for and against us. There was less overall “noise” about the weekend, which gave our content a chance to really shine; one of our highest performing posts was shared to a number of reenactment-focused Facebook groups, resulting in some of the highest metrics we’ve seen ever. However, accounts who readily shared our content last year did not do the same this year (especially on Instagram), resulting in lower share rates and therefore lower engagement in areas we anticipated better results. Ultimately, LexMedia has reached our goal of raising awareness about our Patriots’ Day coverage; we are now a reliable source of information that the community can turn to. Now, it’s time to shift focus and think about how exactly we want to participate in the weekend outside of reenactment and parade coverage, especially considering the numbers. There’s an argument to be made for trying new approaches, like providing more pre-weekend coverage, working directly with the organizers, strapping a GoPro to a Minuteman reenactor, and more direct community involvement.
On-Demand The LexMedia On-Demand portal serves as the primary destination for viewers seeking programs they may have missed on our channels or content of special interest. Government meetings consistently draw strong viewership, and programs added during the school year attract the highest audiences. On-Demand programming increased to 612 in FY2026, up from 432 in FY2025. This 41% increase reflects the higher number of school concerts we covered, the new video podcast programming, and the dispersal of content that would have previously aired as part of a LexLocal episode. LexMedia Training and Classes LexMedia's training program served 90 residents in FY2026, up from 85 in FY2025. Training numbers have solidly increased over the three-year period; this growth reflects our better connection with both high schools, and revitalized involvement with community members. It also demonstrates LexMedia's continuing commitment to accessible video production education. LexMedia Training FY2024 - FY2026FY2024 FY2025 FY2026 0 20 40 60 80 100 49 85 90
LexMedia Classes For FY2026 The staff is always available to advise our members on all forms of media and production. In addition to any special training, below is a list of classes being offered to the community FY2026. LexMedia Orientation: This is a prerequisite to take any other class. New members are introduced to everything they need to get started: member responsibilities, available classes, equipment usage, production group, and how to produce TV shows. Field Production: This hands-on class gives members a solid understanding of how to operate our Sony PXW-X70 camcorders, tripods, and microphones. We offer editing instruction on three platforms: Adobe Premier Pro, FCPX classes and Davinci Resolve. Members learn how to set up a project, import media, edit in the timeline, and export finished work.
FY2026 Fundraising LexMedia consistently exceeded the Board of Directors' annual fundraising goal of $11,000 throughout the three-year period. Fundraising revenue reached $103,291 thanks to the COVID retention credit that LexMedia received, a process that started in a prior fiscal year. Operating Expenses and Budget LexMedia's FY2026 operating budget totaled $688,007 with personnel expenses and employee benefits accounting for the majority of the budget. These investments reflect out continued commitment to maintaining a skilled and dedicated staff responsible for providing programming, technical support, and community services throughout Lexington. Actual operating expenses for FY2026 totaled $660,444, approximently 4% below the approved budget. Personnel expenses and employee benefits represented approximately 83% of total expenditures, while outside services, studio operations, occupency, and general administrative expenses accounted for the remaining costs. The majority of LexMedia’s operating funding continues to come from PEG access fees provided by Comcast, Astound (formerly RCN) and Verizon through the Town of Lexington’s Communications Advisoty Committee. The budget allocated for FY2027 is $699,500, a 1.7% increase over FY2026. We expect expenses to be flat, proportional to what they have been year-to-date in FY2026. LexMedia's capital spending for FY2026 totaled $28,943, with the largest investment going toward a new staff server to improve our technical infrastructure. Additional purchases included upgraded editing systems, video encoding equipment, monitors, and production accessories to support our daily operations and continued coverage of community events.
Comments and Complaints Staff Workshops, Classes, and Conferences The LexMedia website (www.LexMedia.org) has a page for suggestions and comments and a separate page for contacts. Topics included: feedback on video playback quality on YouTube, inquiries about specific programming, requests for coverage, volunteering, membership, summer kids class enrollment, CBB submissions, and questions about live broadcasts. There were no complaints reported. As the new Executive Director, Terry Samaras visited a number of regional community media centers to foster relationships, including attending NewTV’s Community Center Meetup.
