E-PORTFOLIO BSE-MATH II SMASH YOUR LIMITSPATHFIT 3 JULIE ANN D. CORTON
WEEK 1
DAY 1 (STAMINA) 07-28-26 1HR AND 22MINS Choosing this kind of sport made me think if I can really do this even though I don't know how to literally play this. On the first day of playing, we just played a friendly game to see if our bodies could really do this kind of sport and to see what we should do to improve our skills. It is very hard for me as a non-sporty person because I don't want myself to get exhausted and involved in any physical activities. But at the end of that game, I find myself smiling from ear to ear and getting sweaty, not just because the ten minutes of video are done, but the feeling of doing this sport gives me a sense of happiness and energy that I never felt before. It's difficult to do, but I know for sure it will be fine as long as we learn more. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=BQbChGStgGo
DAY 207-31-26 1HR AND 13MINS (FOOTWORK AND MUSCLE CONTROL) The second day is not just a play day. It is the day we officially do what the players in this sport do. Our classmates who are knowledgeable about this sport teach us stretching before playing so that our bodies will be in good condition to play. We also emphasize what skills we want to improve, so we do the footwork training and the muscle control. I don't have any ideas about what skills we should improve in this sport, but with the help of our classmates, they chose the best fit for the sport. The footwork training helps us to be fast so that we can easily reach the shuttle early; it also prevents us from getting injured. While I control my muscles, I find it hard to do because my muscles can't do exactly the smashing, and it's difficult for me to execute properly while playing. It's not easy to be physically active, but I'm trying my best to do this to help myself explore the things that I didn't know, which will bring me different kinds of advantages in life. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=eaRfzGBWPnE
WEEK 2
DAY 1 (SERVE) 08-04-26 1HR AND 30MINS We decided to do the serving because I couldn't move comfortably due to my period. I just realized that playing this sport is not easy, especially when it comes to serving. It takes a lot of time and practice to master, and I still couldn't perform it properly. The serve requires proper coordination, timing, balance, and strength, which made it challenging for me as a beginner. However, I learned that making mistakes is part of the learning process, and with patience and continuous practice, I can gradually improve my skills.https://youtu.be/28ha5y3qBQE
DAY 2 (SMASH) 08-06-26 1HR AND 26MINS We also practiced the smash. At first, I thought it would be easy because it was just about hitting the shuttlecock hard. However, I realized that it requires proper timing, strength, balance, and coordination. I had difficulty hitting the shuttlecock at the right height and making it go downward. Sometimes, I also missed the shuttlecock or hit in the wrong direction. Even though I was not able to perform the smash perfectly, I learned that badminton requires patience and a lot of practice. I realized that I should focus first on my timing, grip, and proper swinging instead of only trying to hit the shuttlecock with force. With more practice, I hope to improve my accuracy and become more confident in playing badminton. https://youtu.be/R3sm6pYm1Hk
WEEK 3
DAY 1 (PICKLEBALL) 08-11-26 1HR AND 30MINS It is my first time to play this sport and it was not easy at all as a beginner. Before we start playing, we emphasize how to serve and receive so that we can master it. I kept messing with my serve because I don't really know how to do it properly. But when I slowed down and really watched where I was contacting the ball, it started to go in. On returns, I learned to let the ball bounce first and aim deep so I'd have time to move forward. I realize that pickleball is less about power and more about patience and positioning. Practicing serve and receive first gave me a clear “entry point” into each rally and made the game feel less overwhelming. https://drive.google.co m/drive/folders/1xeentJ NJlnJLr6WKhQ72xCyor DAAVIbp?usp=sharing
DAY 2 (VARIETY SHOW) 08-12-26 2HRS Participating in this kind of activity even though I'm a person who's not into performing on a big stage and audience but it was both exciting and challenging. At first, I was hesitating because I don't want to exhaust myself when the practice begins but we were out of participants so I decided to join. I was nervous about performing in front of everyone, but our practices helped me feel more confident with my timing, movements, and expressions. What I found hardest was memorizing all the parts and staying in sync, so I practiced at home and asked my seniors for feedback during our practice. Even though we didn't take a place in winning, this experience taught me that preparation, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure make a big difference. https://drive.google.com/drive/fold ers/1Yhlj3Ro83qKfFwslzWu4tIdjTTc GMUQx?usp=sharing
WEEK 4
DAY 1 (REACTION TIME) I practiced my reaction time. At first, I thought reacting to the shuttlecock would be easy because I only needed to hit it when it came toward me. However, I realized that I needed to stay focused and react quickly, especially when the shuttlecock went in different directions. Sometimes, I reacted too late or was not ready to hit it. Even though I had some difficulties, I learned that being alert and focused is important in badminton. I realized that I should watch the shuttlecock carefully and always be prepared for the next shot. With more practice, I hope to improve my reaction time and become more confident when playing. https://youtu.be/K m27INZciC0 08-19-26 1HR AND 30MINS
DAY 2 (RACKET CONTROL) 08-21-26 1HR AND 40MINS I also practiced racket control. Unlike Day 1, I focused more on how I used and controlled my racket while hitting the shuttlecock. At first, I had difficulty controlling the racket because sometimes I used too much force, which made the shuttlecock go too far. There were also times when my shots did not go in the direction I wanted. Through practice, I learned that having a proper grip and using the right amount of force can help me control my shots better. This activity taught me to be more careful with my racket movements and not just focus on hitting the shuttlecock hard. I hope that with more practice, I can improve my racket control and make my shots more consistent. https://youtu.be/xTTchYL9Exk
WEEK 5
DAY 1 (SMASH) 08-27-26 1HR AND 8MINS This is my second time practicing the smash, and I still have many more weeks to practice again, but I could already feel how difficult it is. Every smash felt heavy and low- energy because my timing, footwork, and balance were off, and I rushed without resetting my stance or breathing. Even so, I kept trying, and I noticed that when I hit a better smash, it felt more powerful and satisfying. I’ve learned that smashing needs good timing, footwork, body rotation, and breathing, not just strength. In the coming weeks, I will focus on getting into position earlier, hitting the shuttle at the highest point, using my whole body, and pausing to breathe between smashes so my smash can become stronger, more consistent, and less tiring. https://youtu.be/iOAiRQ5MZco? si=AgbsPgKFjWvDS3YD
DAY 2 (FRISBEE DISC) 08-27-26 1HR AND 20MINS I enjoyed my first time trying the Frisbee disc activity, and I felt more natural and confident with it compared to other skills. Even though I was just learning the basic throws and catches, my timing and coordination felt better, and I could see myself improving quickly. I think with a bit more practice, I can easily master the Frisbee because I already understand the motion and I enjoy the activity. This experience showed me that when I feel comfortable and motivated, I can learn new skills faster, and I hope to use this confidence in my future practices. https://drive.google.com/drive/fold ers/1AFRme33EK_RFROUudkTNhc EWFlhr3NUv?usp=sharing
WEEK 6
DAY 1 09-01-26 1HR AND 20MINS (FRISBEE DISC TOURNAMENT) I was very happy to experience the Frisbee disc tournament. At first, we practiced passing with our classmates, and I was paired with our class mayor. My first two catches failed, but when I tried to move slowly and time my catch properly, I was able to catch it successfully until we finished the passing drill. The tournament was very tiring for me, especially when the girls’ game started. The side of my stomach hurt because I kept running to catch the disc. It was really difficult because the disc was hard to catch, especially for my teammates and me, since the throws were too far. But overall, it was fun, and we got to experience how to play the activity properly. One lesson I learned after the game is that I should stay active in physical activities to build my stamina so I won’t get tired easily when doing these kinds of activities. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16b DRfW_Sdjxl6fR3bsLKL0jepoWbA- mq/view?usp=sharing
DAY 2 (STAMINA) 09-04-26 1HR AND 12MINS Since it’s our last week playing badminton, we decided to check our stamina to see how much we can handle. We used this session to test our limits and find out what we can do in the upcoming competition. We played longer rallies and focused on our timing, pushing ourselves to maintain a steady pace throughout. I realized that my breathing stayed controlled even during fast exchanges, which shows that my endurance is improving. This session helped me confirm that I’m in good condition physically, and it reminded me that consistent training, and playing regularly, will help me maintain and even boost my stamina. Overall, it was a useful practice because it gave me confidence in my fitness level before the competition.https://youtu.be/O3zzxiFt2tM? si=WbZk0A_gxtSKbv74
CULMI NATION
REFLECTION The culmination of our racket games unit became more than a requirement; it became a real test of skill, teamwork, and endurance. Through two exciting days of activity, I experienced the challenges and joys of badminton and the fun run, both of which pushed me to grow physically and mentally. On the first day, we played badminton in mixed pairings, with my classmate as my partner. Our opponents were students from the PE major, who clearly had more experience and advanced skills. Even before the match started, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness because we were facing stronger players. During the game, we tried our best to communicate and cover the court together. However, their smashes and quick movements were difficult to handle. We lost the match, but that loss taught me valuable lessons. I realized that competing against better players helps me see where I need to improve, especially in footwork, timing, and reaction speed. Even though we did not win, I was proud that we did not give up and kept playing until the end. This experience showed me that losing is not a failure; it is an opportunity to learn and become stronger.
REFLECTION On the second day, we participated in a fun run. This activity tested my stamina and pacing. At the beginning, I wanted to run fast, but I learned that maintaining a steady pace was more effective. I focused on my breathing and kept a comfortable rhythm so I could finish the run without getting too tired. The fun run was not just about speed; it was also about endurance and mental strength. Seeing my classmates cheering and running together made the activity more enjoyable. It reminded me that physical fitness is not only for competition but also for building a healthy lifestyle. Through these two days, I learned that racket games like badminton develop coordination, strategy, and teamwork, while activities like the fun run build endurance and discipline. Both activities complement each other in improving overall fitness. I also realized that enjoying the process and supporting one another makes physical activities more meaningful. Overall, this culmination helped me grow not only physically but also socially and mentally. I am grateful for the experience because it showed me that with practice, cooperation, and a positive attitude, I can improve my skills and become more confident in sports and fitness activities.
