The Best of Both WorldsTia and Kevin performed for us back in July, and the England World Cup quarter-final happened to fall on the same evening. To make sure no one had to choose between live music and live football, we made a few last- minute tweaks to the schedule. The result was a fantastic evening, with everyone enjoying a brilliant performance before heading home in time to catch the match â the best of both worlds!WHATâS BEEN HAPPENINGOur very first Family Quiz Night was held on 31 July and was a fantastic success! By starting a little earlier than usual, we were delighted to welcome so many children and families to the Village Hall for an evening of fun and laughter. Congratulations to our winning team, The Brainy Bunch, who certainly lived up to their name! Well done to everyone who took part and helped make the event such an enjoyable occasion.A Successful Fantastic First Family Quiz Night!A big thank you to Brian for hosting another excellent quiz, Peter for the BBQ, and to Denise for running the bar. We hope this will be the first of many family quiz nights and look forward to seeing even more of you at our next one.The popular POPS returned to the Village Hall on Friday 28 August for a fantastic evening of classic hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s. It was a really successful night, enjoyed by many, with a great atmosphere, delicious BBQ, drinksfrom the licensed bar and plenty of fantastic live music, and we raised ÂŁ86 for POPSâs charity - Alzheimers Society. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying good food, great music and each otherâs company.A Fantastic Evening with POPS!
Hereâs some of what happened over the summer: đš Fresh decoration and a brand-new carpet in the entrance hall đȘNew, comfortable chairs for the hall đ§ Car park resurfacing and fencing repairs, and new planters đ Refurbished Village Hall notice boardOur Village Hall RefurbishmentOur Village Hall has now reopened following five days of refurbishment work, and weâre delighted with the improvements! The work was made possible thanks to funding secured through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) from the Borough Council of Kingâs Lynn & West Norfolk. As CIL funding covered only part of the project costs, we also needed to raise 50% match funding â and this is where our amazing community has played such an important part.COMMUNITY NEWSWe hope youâll enjoy the improvements and continue to support your Village Hall for many years to come. But none of this would have been possible without the incredible support, generosity and hard work of people and businesses within our local community. Weâd like to say a very special thank you to:Norfolk Sheds Tim WisemanHalls Groundworks Rubenâs Renovations Wisbech Carpet WarehouseAnd finally, a thank you to Tania Plaice, Goldings and Tesco for their donations, and Angela Kilbey for helping to buy and plant up the new planters..Itâs not just our Village Hall that had a makeover recently â our outside bench has had one too! Check out the fabulous sunflower design, beautifully painted by local resident Brian Samuel.

Email us your news, announcements, & events.COMMUNITY NEWSIt is always a pleasure to hear of local initiatives that bring our community together, and this is certainly one worth celebrating. Nicole Booth, a registered childminder, has opened a Children's Community Library outside her home at 149 The Drove, (opposite Mack Machinery). Designed to encourage a love of reading, the library gives local children and families the chance to borrow and enjoy books at their leisure.A New Chapter for Young ReadersThe library works on a simple "Take a Book, Read It, Return It" basis. A drop box is available for returns when the library is closed, and donations of good-quality children's books are always welcome. This is a wonderful example of community spirit, and we hope families will make the most of this lovely new resource. We would like to wish Nicole every success and hope the library becomes a much- loved part of village life for years to come.
