B ook ReviewDReadersear The “Let Them” book changed my outlook and perspective in stressful situations. One specific lesson I got from the book by Mel Robbins is: It’s never your job to manage another adult’s emotions, your responsibility is to protect yourself from their emotional spiral. Most adults have the emotional maturity of an eight year old! They’re just better at hiding it. The “Let Them” helps you regulate your own emotions. But it’s only the first step to say “Let Them” the next step is saying “Let Me.” When you say “Let Them” you give people the space to feel their emotions without needing to fix them. When you say “Let Me” you do what’s right for you even if it upsets someone. I think everyone should read this book because it leads to a more peaceful life. It helps you focus your energy on the only person that you can control: yourself. by BrookeToodles xoxo,B rookeA rce Page 4

Page 6The secret garden film Review by Guineveres a kid, there were a handful of staple films that I would watch on repeat. I strongly believe that film and literature are some of the biggest influences on humanity, and in many ways, they have shaped me into the person I am today. The other day, I decided to revisit one of my personal favorite movies from my childhood: The Secret Garden (1993). I love both the book and movie adaptations of this story, and the film was truly as magical as I remember it being. This movie is so lovely to watch as a transitional film between seasons. It captures the beauty of life in the springtime, but is also a perfect watch if you're looking to cozy up and appreciate the mysterious, dreamy atmosphere of the film. The story follows a young girl named Mary Lennox who is sent to live with her uncle in a gloomy English manor after being orphaned. There, she discovers a hidden garden and begins uncovering the secrets about herself and the home. I love how enchanting it is and how it weaves lessons about found family and friendship into a story that completely pulls you into the garden and the manor's mysterious history. I would definitely recommend this film to anyone looking for their next whimsical, nostalgic watch, especially if you're a fan of the original book.A

C loser T o Youused to think i had to find my way to You with perfect prayers, steady hands, and a heart that never wandered. so i stayed quiet on the days i felt unworthy, thinking heaven was only meant for girls who knew exactly what to say. but You met me there— in the silence. You found me when my faith was a whisper, when my knees were tired from carrying things i was never meant to carry alone. and slowly, i began to understand: You were never asking me to be perfect. You were asking me to come closer.Iby Valeria Page 8

so i started talking to You about everything. the little things. the embarrassing things. the things i was afraid to admit even to myself. sometimes my prayers were only a sentence. sometimes they were tears. sometimes all i could say was, “God, please stay.” and somehow, You always did. Page 9

i began noticing You in places i used to overlook— in the sunrise through my window, in laughter with people i love, in the strength to try again after i thought i couldn't. You were there in every door that closed, every lesson that hurt, every moment i thought You had forgotten me. You hadn't. You were simply teaching me that Your presence doesn't always feel like an answer. sometimes it feels like peace. sometimes it feels like letting go. sometimes it feels like waking up and choosing faith one more time. Page 10

and now, i don't want a life where i only remember You when i'm afraid. i want You in the ordinary. in my mornings. in my dreams. in the choices no one sees. in the person i'm becoming. i want my heart to know You not only as the God who rescues me from storms, but as the Father who walks beside me through them. i am still learning. still stumbling. still questioning. still falling short. but i'm closer now. and maybe that's what faith is— Page 11

not becoming someone who never gets lost, but becoming someone who knows where to return. so here i am, God. a little softer, a little braver, a little more certain that i don't have to have all the answers. just keep pulling me closer. and if i ever wander again, remind me— You have never moved. it was always me learning how to come home.
