4 The Church of God of Prophecy The Church of God of Prophecy is a vibrant, Christian movement grounded in Scripture, firm in the Faith, and resolved in its passion for people. This is a world-wide body of believers, united in worship, working hand-in- hand to share God’s love and a message of hope to the broken-hearted. The impact of the Church of God of Prophecy is far-reaching. It is estimated that every 24 hours around the globe 300 people receive salvation, nearly 100 people are baptized in water, and over 14,000 preaching venues are actively declaring the gospel. At least one new church opens its doors every day to touch a local community through the efforts of this movement. The Church is ethnically and culturally diverse, with 90 percent of its membership residing outside of North America. Presently, the Church is ministering in 133 countries, with more than 1,400 people becoming members every month. An estimated 14,000 men and women are currently licensed to present the gospel in pastoral and evangelistic efforts.

7 Greetings from the National Bishop of Jamaica To the Saints in St Elizabeth, I pause to extend Christian greetings to all the Ministers and members of the Church of God of Prophecy. Once again, we are privileged to gather in another Biennial Parish Convention for a time of worship, and fellowship, under spiritual leadership. This Convention theme “Arise and Testify”, is a call for every Christian to get up, stand up and declare the goodness of the Lord over our Lives. The theme is most appropriate as the parish of St. Elizabeth seeks to arise and rebound from the ravages of Hurricane Mellissa. The Church of God has been resilient through the ages and we have Biblical precedence that nothing shall separate us from the Love of God. To arise means to get up, come into existence or cause to happen. Biblically arise means to move from a position of rest, passivity, or defeat into a state of active purpose, spiritual awakening and obedience to God. We are therefore called as the Church to get up from our rest and slumber to promote the message of the Kingdom and be On Mission for the King. We have been commissioned by Jesus Our Lord to; Go ye therefore teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things what soever I have commanded you and lo I am with you always even to the end of the age St. Matthew 28:19 – 20. As we embark on this mission, we must endeavor to share our TESTIMONY of salvation so that all humanity would be saved. If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me. St John 12: 32. Jesus’ death on the cross was a physical point of being lifted up for all the world to see; for as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the Son of man be lifted up.
8 The dying world continues to look to the living savior; those who look to him will live. When Jesus was lifted on the cross his death brought eternal salvation to lost humanity. The work of Ministry cannot be done without the power of the Holy Spirit and so fresh anointing is needed to bring about renewed strength and empowerment from the Holy Spirit. Let us continue to embrace the Core values of Prayer, Harvest, Leadership Development, Stewardship and Service as we minister to a hurting world. May the Spirit of Nehemiah rest upon the Parish of St Elizabeth as we leave this Convention with a desire to Arise and Testify in our homes, Churches and communities for the glory of God. Bishop Dr. Franklyn Beckford National Bishop of Jamaica and Interim Parish Bishop (St. Elizabeth)

28 HYMNS When The Church of God Arises 1. When the Church of God arises With her garment bright and fair And ascends to meet the Bridegroom For the marriage in the air She’ll outshine the sun at noonday Not a wrinkle, not a spot Will you be among the Bride or will you not? Chorus She’ll be shining, shining through the ages After earth and time have been forgot She’ll be wearing garments pure and spotless. Have you on the wedding robes or have you not 2. She has stood through all the ages Persecution through the years But when Jesus comes to claim her God will wipe away her tears And the lamb Himself shall feed her own He shall feed her from the throne And to living fountains lead her as His 3. Trouble then will all be ended After tear-drops have been dried And the Church of God has gathered Over on the other side There as millions join the singing That glad song that’s sweet and new Saying Jesus has redeemed us, hallelu. 4. That will be the last assembly Over on the shining shore When the Church of God assembles To come back no never more But with Jesus and the angels There thru all eternity She’ll be shouting hallelujah, victory
29 He Rolled the Sea Away 1. When Israel out of bondage came, A sea before them lay; My Lord reached down His mighty hand, And rolled the sea away. Chorus Then forward still—’tis Jehovah’s will, Though the billows dash and spray. With a conq’ring tread we will push ahead; He’ll roll the sea away. 2. Before me was a sea of sin, So great I feared to pray; My heart’s desire the Savior read, And rolled the sea away. [Refrain] 3. When sorrows dark, like stormy waves, Were dashing o’er my way, Again the Lord in mercy came, And rolled the sea away. [Refrain] 4. And when I reach the sea of death, For needed grace I’ll pray; I know the Lord will quickly come, And roll the sea away. [Refrain] Go Ye into All the World 1 Far, far away, in death and darkness dwelling, Millions of souls forever may be lost;Who, who will go, salvation’s story telling, Looking to Jesus, heeding not the cost? Chorus: “All pow’r is given unto Me, All pow’r is given unto Me, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel,And lo, I am with you a lway.” 2 See o’er the world wide open doors inviting, Soldiers of Christ, arise and enter in! Christians, awake! your forces all uniting, Send forth the gospel, break the chains of sin. (Refrain) 3 “Why will ye die?” the voice of God is calling; “Why will you die?” re-echo in His name; Jesus has died to save from death appalling, Life and salvation, therefore, go proclaim. (Refrain) 4 God speed the day, when those of every nation "Glory to God!" triumphantly shall sing; Ransomed, redeemed, rejoicing in salvation, Shout Hallelujah, for the Lord is King. (Refrain)
30 He Abides I’m rejoicing night and day As I walk the narrow way, For the hand of God in all my life I see; And the reason of my bliss, Yes, the secret all is this: That the Comforter abides with me. Chorus: He abides, He abides; Hallelujah, He abides with me! I’m rejoicing night and day As I walk the narrow way, For the Comforter abides with me. 2. Once my heart was full of sin, Once I had no peace within, Till I heard how Jesus died upon the tree; Then I fell down at His feet, And there came a peace so sweet; Now the Comforter abides with me. 3. He is with me everywhere, And He knows my every care; I’m as happy as a bird and just as free; For the Spirit has control; Jesus satis- fies my soul, Since the Comforter abides with me. 4. There’s no thirsting for the things Of the world—they’ve taken wings; Long ago I gave them up, and instantly All my night was turned to day, All my burdens rolled away; Now the Comforter abides with me. 35 The Church’s Mission Components Christ Exalting – In all that we do may Jesus Christ be seen. He is the Head of the Body and therefore must be preeminent in all things. We affirm our desire for Christ to be seen more perfectly through this family of ministry. Holiness People – This church was a part of the “holiness movement” before it was Pentecostal. We were born out of the sweeping holiness camp meeting revival of North America. The call to holiness is deep in our roots and intended to be a component of our destiny. We renew our surrender to God’s grace and the cleansing of His blood, so that we may be like Him. Spirit Filled – The prophetic promise of God that “in the last days He would pour out His Spirit over all the earth” has been and continues to be a central part of the DNA of this global family, the Church of God of Prophecy. We declare our entire dependence on the Holy Spirit who has been given to lead and empower the Church. All Nations – By God’s design this international ministry has, from its early days, held to the ideal that God’s church would be composed of every “kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” We have, to the best of their limited ability, attempted to fashion this church along those lines, even before being multi-cultural was acceptable. We celebrate diversity in every level of leadership in this international body and covenant to continue such a rich heritage.
36 Disciple Making – Through more than one century of ministry this family network has been committed to the biblical call to make disciples in accordance with the Great Commission. We understand the strength of making disciples will determine our strength in evangelization. Church Planting Movement – Healthy churches planting new churches contributes greatly to the spread of the gospel around the world. This ministry has reflected this ideal consistently in practice all through her existence. We aim to multiply our efforts to invest in planting churches in every place we find opportunity. Christian Union – Our forebears believed that there could be a unity greater than the religious creeds of the day, which God would use to glorify His name in the earth. We intend to cooperate with all that exalt the name of Christ and His great Gospel.
