DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INCPresident’s GreetingPresident’s GreetingGreetings my dear sweet sorors, Welcome to Fall! Fall ushers in a season of change, clarity, and renewed purpose. As the air cools and the leaves begin their vibrant transformation, we are reminded that every new season brings fresh opportunities—opportunities to recommit, to refocus, and to re-engage in the work that strengthens our sisterhood and uplifts our community. As we began our service for the sorority year, let us embrace the commitments we have made. If you signed up for a committee, remember that your presence is necessary. Your voice, your gifts, and your participation matter. Each of us plays a vital role in advancing our mission. We are all members of one body, and we need each other to survive. When every soror takes her place and does her part, our collective impact becomes undeniable. This season also calls us to remain deeply in tune with Social Action. The upcoming November election is approaching, and it is essential that we stay informed, engaged, and active. Decide to make a difference. Be the change. Voting is not just a right—it is a responsibility that shapes the future of our communities. Please confirm all election information with trusted, official sources as you prepare to cast your ballot. October is also a time of awareness and compassion as we honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We uplift our survivors—sorors, family members, and friends— whose strength inspires us. We remember those we have lost, and we stand firmly with those still fighting. May this month remind us to advocate for early detection, support one another, and continue spreading hope. As we move through October, let us carry the spirit of renewal with us. Together, we will serve with excellence, act with intention, and continue building the legacy entrusted to our care. Chaplain’s CornerChaplain’s Corner There was a song written in 2016 and it was recorded by country western singer Tim McGraw. "Always be Humble and Kind." In these days and times we are sometimes just bombarded with rudeness everywhere we turn. It can put us in a bad mood, which may fester in us and it will affect or take aim at others in our paths. That is not being loving to others or ourselves for that matter! That song serves as a universal reminder to pratice gratitude, remain grounded after achieving success and treat everyone with grace and compassion. Stay grounded by letting go of negativity, having universal compassion and not just for those persons in our current circle of relationships. So, we should turn back around and help others achieve their goals (not being self centered), and remember that bitterness keeps us from flying higher. Avoid holding grudges and focus on forgiveness! The last stanza of the song says "Don't take for granted the love this life gives you, when you get to where you are going, don't forget to turn back around and help the next one in line, always be humble and kind." No better way to love your neighbor as yourself.A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Matthew 22:39 From my heart to yours, Soror, Deacon Belinda Dyson
