15Digital thermostats This economical room thermostat is designed to provide close accurate temperature control by using a simple to use dial. It features a neon indicator that lights up when the system is calling for heat. The control requires a live and neutral power supply. Electronic room thermostat ESRTE2 We offer a comprehensive range of wired, non-programmable thermostats which provide temperature control by sensing the air temperature and switching the heating on when the temperature falls below the selected thermostat setting. From modern, energy efficient digital models, to a simple dial operated mechanical control, we have a solution for every customer. The mains voltage mechanical room thermostat is an economical and easy- to-use control, suitable for systems with either a combi, system, or heat-only boiler. However, when used with a combi boiler, it would not meet Boiler Plus compliance requirements. 19Cylinder thermostats The mechanical dual thermostat combines both the controller and limit thermostats into one unit, requiring only one direct immersion well. The controller and limit stat heads are provided with a jumper to minimise wiring. The thermostat controller has an external adjustment, while the limit has concealed adjustment with a manual reset feature. Mechanical dual cylinder thermostat ESCTD The clamp-on option is specifically designed for the control of domestic hot water and can provide energy savings when set between the recommended 60°C - 65°C. Supplied complete with a mounting strap and a spring for the heating pipework, this control can be easily fit to existing appliances and pipework. The bimetallic sensor ensures accurate hot water temperature control and can be used to safely control a wet central heating circulating pump to boiler, or to operate zone valves. Clamp-on cylinder thermostat ESCTS This pocket mounted mechanical cylinder thermostat is available in both standard and high limit, which is pre-set to 80°C. The liquid filled bimetallic probe is inserted into the well of a cylinder and provides accurate hot water temperature control when used in an unvented hot water cylinder. Additionally, the control is tamper proof, providing peace of mind. It reduces noise from TRVs or zone valves closing and prevents pump impeller wear due to high flow resistance. 32 Glossary Take control of rising energy prices with ESi. Boiler Plus Compliance As part of the Government’s Clean Growth Strategy, Boiler Plus sets out the minimum requirements when installing boilers in existing buildings to meet Part L of the Building Regulations. The Regulations state that all modern boiler installs must include either a smart, load or weather compensation control or a flue gas heat recovery unit. ESi offers the latest smart control technology to not only meet these Regulations, but to provide additional energy saving features. OpenTherm OpenTherm is a point-to-point communication system which connects the heating controls with the gas boiler. In doing so, the technology modulates the temperature flow through the heating system, saving up to 15% in gas usage. ErP energy efficiency ratings The Energy-related Products Directive is designed to improve the efficiency of energy using products. The ratings detailed against each product in this guide can be used to create the energy efficiency label, clearly communicating to your customer the energy being used by the heating system. Landlord service interval reminder The ESi programmable controls range all include a landlord service interval reminder. This feature sends a scheduled maintenance alert when the boiler service is due, helping landlords meet the boiler servicing requirements of Gas Safety Regulations. The temperature and heating operation can also be restricted should the boiler not be serviced, making them the perfect choice for social housing. By servicing annually, this ensures the boiler is running efficiently. Energy saving technology

33 The cost of living is at its highest level in a decade, with household energy bills being the largest expense. (Energy Saving Trust) TPI control Time proportional integral (TPI) provides close accurate temperature control and increases boiler efficiency. It does this by firing the boiler at regular intervals, adjusting firing duration with demand to maintain set room temperatures. TPI thermostats can provide great energy and cost savings of up to 10%. Optimum start/stop Optimum start adjusts the starting time of the heating, depending on the current room temperature. Instead of setting an arbitrary time for the heating to come on, your customer programmes the time the home should be at the desired temperature. Up to 10% of energy costs can be saved as the warmup time is automatically reduced according to the ambient temperature. Optimum stop saves energy by switching the boiler off a little earlier than the programmed OFF time. However, if the house is up to temperature, the effect on the temperature should not be noticed. Delayed start Delayed start delays the start-up of the heating, depending on how warm the room temperature is when the central heating is due to come on. The heating start can be delayed for up to 45 minutes if the room is already relatively warm, when the weather is milder for example. This often reduces how long the heating is on per day, with no comfort loss, saving energy and cost. The delayed start feature can be fully automated and needs no extra programming.
