Activity 4 The Impact of ICT in the Preschool Classroom
Introduction Currently, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are an integral part of children’s everyday environment. Their incorporation into preschool education offers valuable opportunities to enrich learning. The true educational value of technology lies in the pedagogical purpose for which it is used, ensuring a harmonious balance between digital tools and fundamental childhood experiences such as physical play, contact with nature, and social interaction.
Examples of Technology in Early Childhood Tools such as computers, tablets, projectors, and interactive software have entered early childhood classrooms, allowing young children to explore, create, and communicate.
Technology as an Educational Tool: Key Findings Boosting Motivation and Engagement Early childhood students learn best through play, curiosity, sensory discovery, and hands-on interaction. Digital resources support these experiences through dynamic visual and auditory feedback.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Fred Rogers Center emphasize that technology for young children should be active, interactive, and integrated into broader classroom experiences. Creativity and Active Learning
ICT provide adaptive channels for children with special educational needs and diverse learning styles, fostering a more inclusive classroom culture. Multisensory Options: Offers alternative visual, auditory, and tactile modalities. Language Support: Helps second- language learners and strengthens early communication. Family Connection: Improves collaborative communication among teachers, children, and families. Inclusion & Communication
Main Challenges of ICT in Preschool Education According to the World Health Organization, the challenges are: Excessive screen time Lack of teacher training Inequality in access Passive use of technology Protection and safety
ICT facilitates children’s learning through interactive and engaging resources. They encourage creativity, curiosity, and the exploration of new knowledge. They allow children to develop digital skills from an early age with proper guidance. They support communication and active participation in classroom activities. They make classes more dynamic, motivating, and adaptable to different ways of learning. Benefits of ICT in Preschool Education
After completing this work, technology is a valuable complement in early childhood education when used appropriately. A child does not need to be continuously exposed to screens to learn; technology should serve a clear educational purpose while always preserving play, human affection, and physical discovery. Conclusion
It is recommended to use ICT in preschool in a responsible, creative way, guided by the teacher. Technological tools should complement educational activities and not replace play or social interaction. It is important to select resources that are appropriate for the children’s age and that are safe, educational, and engaging. Children’s active participation should also be encouraged through interactive activities. Recommendation

Conclusion Through the different assignments completed, I acquired new knowledge and strengthened my skills. By workingwith myfavorite object, the computer, I learned to describe a familiar object using English vocabulary and to express my ideas in a simple way. Also, through the English-French glossary, I expanded my vocabulary and learned new words, recognizing some differences and similarities between the two languages. By creating the graphic organizer, I learned to organize information clearly, identify the main ideas, and relate different concepts. Finally, by researching the impact of ICT in the preschool classroom, I understood the importance of using technology as an educational resource that can make learning more dynamic, interactive, and motivating, always in a responsible way and complementing play and social interaction. Overall, these assignments allowed me to strengthen my knowledge, improve my skills, and better understand the importance of educational tools in my professional development.
Reflection on What Was Learned In this course, I acquired new knowledge through the activities carried out in the classroom and the research conducted. Each assignment helped me improve my English skills, expand my vocabulary, organize information, and understand the importance o ICT in preschool education. I learned that combining classroom activities with research allows me to acquire knowledge more effectively and strengthen my professional skills. Overall, this course was a valuable learning experience that contributed to my persona and academic growth. I am grateful to the teacher for dedicating he time and sharing her knowledge.
