GETTING Started A SIMPLE SYSTEM YOU CAN REPEAT 01 CHOOSE YOUR FORMAT Choose the PDF for your paper: A4, US Letter or A5. The color and ink-saver editions contain the same 42 pages. Print only the worksheets you need, at 100% / Actual Size. 02 NAME YOUR MONEY Write your currency or unit on the worksheets. All blank templates work with your own currency. The worked examples use made-up amounts, with no fixed currency. 03 PLAN BEFORE YOU STUFF Record take-home income. Set aside money for bank-paid bills, debt payments and savings. Choose spending categories for cash. Do not withdraw money already assigned elsewhere. 04 PREPARE AND COUNT Complete the Cash Stuffing Plan and Withdrawal Breakdown. Count what you withdraw, put it into the right envelopes, then update each Single Envelope Ledger. 05 RECORD, REVIEW, REPEAT Record purchases as they happen. Count your physical cash each week. Review unused cash before rolling it forward, saving it or using it for a different category. A clear system starts with a few consistent habits. created by PaperLakerStudio 4

GETTING Organized A SIMPLE SYSTEM YOU CAN REPEAT KEEP THE BANK SIDE SEPARATE Bank-paid bills stay in your account. Track them in the Bill Payment Tracker. Cash categories go into your envelopes. Moving money from bank to envelope is a transfer, not spending. AVOID COUNTING THE SAME MONEY TWICE On budget pages, routine expenses, savings transfers and debt payments are separate groups. Record an amount in only one group. Savings and debt get their own rows, not a second entry in expenses. USE SINKING FUNDS FOR PLANNED COSTS A sinking fund is money set aside for a known future expense, such as a repair or annual bill. Track each deposit and withdrawal. Store it in cash or a bank account and note where. CHECK A BALANCE YOU CAN EXPLAIN Envelope ending balance = opening cash + cash added - spending - transfers out. Debt balance changes also include interest and fees; use the lender statement when checking it. MAKE THE SYSTEM FIT YOUR LIFE Start with a few categories. Copy monthly, weekly and ledger pages as needed. Reuse the undated pages. Cash envelope inserts are separate, unpunched cards: measure your wallet first. DIGITAL USE: Use the fillable PDF in a PDF form reader, or import any PDF into a note-taking app and write with a stylus. Fillable fields do not calculate. See Print & Use Guide for details. A clear system starts with a few consistent habits. created by PaperLakerStudio 5
