My Dear Link Sisters, It is my pleasure to welcome you to the inaugural issue of the Northern Chesapeake Bay (MD) Chapter Newsletter! This newsletter represents another exciting milestone in our chapter journey and will provide a space to celebrate our sisterhood, highlight our service and accomplishments, share important chapter news, and keep us connected to the work and moments that shape our chapter. As we continue our first full program year as the Northern Chesapeake Bay (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, I remain grateful for the energy, commitment, and collective spirit each of you brings to our chapter. We have much to look forward to as we continue strengthening our foundation, deepening our bonds of friendship, and advancing meaningful service throughout the communities we serve. As we move through the month, I encourage each Link Sister to regularly check our Chapter Calendar for important dates and reminders, including committee meetings, chapter activities, deadlines, and other scheduled events. Please also make it a priority to read the communications and notifications shared by Madam National President Dr. Shuana Tucker- Sims and our Madam Eastern Area Director Dr. Lisa Loury Lomas, as these communications contain important information, updates, opportunities, and expectations that keep us informed and connected to the broader work of The Links, Incorporated. As we move forward together, may we continue to remember that what we are building today will become part of the legacy of this chapter tomorrow. I hope you enjoy this inaugural issue and that, with each edition, our newsletter becomes another meaningful way to celebrate our accomplishments, preserve our chapter story, and remain connected in friendship and service. In Friendship and Service, Link Ivori V. PREGNANCY & INFANT LOSSAwarenessOctober is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to honor the babies whose lives, however brief, left an everlasting imprint and to recognize the parents and families who carry their love and memory forward.October 15 is a day of special significance for families around the world. At 7:00 p.m. local time, individuals and families are invited to participate in the International Wave of Light by lighting a candle for one hour in remembrance of babies lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, and other forms of pregnancy and infant loss. thPregnancy and infant loss is often carried quietly. This month reminds us of the importance of creating space for compassion, acknowledging grief without judgment, and allowing families to speak the names and honor the memories of the babies they love.On October 15, and throughout the month, we remember. At that point, the motion belongs to the assembly. The chapter then has the opportunity to discuss it, amend it when appropriate, and decide what happens through a vote. Understanding this principle helps us remember that parliamentary procedure is designed to give every member a voice while keeping business organized, fair, and moving forward.Reference: Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised, 12th Edition.
