Inspired by Zaha Hadid’s fluid and dynamic architectural language, the building explores organic curves, flowing forms, and parametric geometry to create a sculptural contemporary expression. Z A H A H A D I D I N S P I R E D B U I L D I N G01

FORM DEVELOPMENT The resulting form is a fluid, sculptural building generated through a simple sequence of curve → stack → manipulate → pipe → surface → materialize, demonstrating how computational modelling can transform a basic geometric element into a dynamic architectural form. Finally, the structural ribs and façade surfaces are refined to create a continuous parametric skin, where structure, enclosure and aesthetics work together The renders present the final building as a fluid, parametric architectural form inspired by Zaha Hadid’s design language. The white curved structural ribs wrap continuously around the building, creating a strong sense of movement and integrating the façade with the overall form. Large areas of curved glazing provide transparency and reveal the warm, active interior spaces, while the solid façade panels create contrast and enclosure. The minimal landscape, scattered people, and clean white background help establish scale and context without distracting from the building, allowing the sculptural geometry and flowing curves to remain the primary focus.

The arena is a biomorphic, fluid-form football stadium inspired by the Borisov Arena, developed through elliptical curves, lofting, scaling, and height manipulation in Rhino. Its continuous metallic roof and perforated outer façade create an organic envelope, with irregular openings providing visual connections between the interior and exterior. The stadium accommodates a live football pitch surrounded by tiered audience seating, creating an immersive viewing experience. The perforated façade allows glimpses of the seating, circulation spaces, and activity within the arena while giving the building a distinctive architectural identity. B O R I S OV A R E N A02

GRASSHOPPER SCRIPT The form begins with a 70 × 84 m ellipse, developed through curve scaling, extrusion, lof ting, and height manipulation to create a fluid roof inspired by Borisov Arena. A Voronoi-inspired perforated façade completes the organic form, combining a flowing metallic roof with a dynamic envelope modelled in Rhino.

T W I S T E D T U N N E L The Flowing Canopy is a parametric pavilion inspired by the natural movement of waves and flowing landscapes. The repetitive timber ribs create a continuous, organic form that blends the structure with its surroundings. The pavilion functions as a shaded gathering and resting space, with the curved framework creating an open yet enclosed spatial experience. The rhythmic structure allows light and air to filter through, creating a dynamic interplay of structure, nature, and movement. FORM DEVELOPMENT Fillet → Loft → Split → Array Linear → Split → Bend → OffsetSrf → Rebuild The form is developed by creating, refining, repeating, bending, and offsetting the individual rib to generate the final parametric tunnel structure. 03

Ai VISUALIZATION These visualizations show the pavilion from different views, highlighting its parametric form and flowing structure. The repeated timber ribs create a rhythmic pattern, while the curved form blends with the landscape and guides movement through the space. The views also show how people, pathways, and vegetation come together to create an interactive and inviting pavilion. The final views explore how the pavilion sits within the landscape and responds to movement. The curved form creates a semi-enclosed space with moments to walk through, pause, sit, and interact. The combination of repetitive timber ribs, translucent panels, soft landscaping, and pathways gives the pavilion a light and continuous character.

SITE ANALYSIS - LADYBUG & HONEYBEE The climate analysis was carried out using Chennai EPW weather data to understand the site’s solar exposure, radiation and wind conditions. The sun-path and direct sun-hour studies help identify seasonal variations in solar exposure, while the radiation analysis indicates the intensity and direction of solar gains across the site. The wind rose shows the prevailing wind directions and speeds, helping inform the pavilion’s orientation and openings. These findings were used to develop a form that encourages natural ventilation, controlled sunlight and comfortable shaded spaces. DIRECT SUN HOURS SUN PATH DIAGRAM The script connects the weather file to different analysis components to generate sun-path, direct sun-hour, radiation and climate data. Parameters such as location, analysis period and weather conditions are defined within the script, allowing the climatic data to be processed and visualised through the corresponding outputs. 04

WIND ROSE DIAGRAM RADIATION DOME RADIATION ROSE GRASSHOPPER SCRIPT GRASSHOPPER SCRIPT The script extracts parameters such as wind speed, wind direction, temperature and solar radiation and connects them to Ladybug analysis components. The resulting outputs include wind rose, radiation dome and radiation rose diagrams, which help visualise the direction, intensity and distribution of wind and solar radiation throughout the year. This workflow allows the climatic data to be processed systematically and translated into clear graphical outputs for further design analysis.

SITE MODEL ( THESIS) The thesis site is located at Panagal Park, T. Nagar, Chennai, a dense and active urban district with strong commercial, cultural and pedestrian activity. The site covers approximately 4.5 acres and is surrounded by major roads, commercial streets and existing urban infrastructure. Panagal Park and its existing vegetation provide an important green component within this dense urban setting. The site also has connections to the historical and cultural identity of T. Nagar, with nearby heritage structures and landmarks contributing to its sense of place. The site is further influenced by major road networks and underground metro infrastructure, creating opportunities to rethink pedestrian connectivity and the relationship between public space, transit and informal activities. The analysis therefore focuses on movement patterns, street activity, vegetation, built context, climate and existing infrastructure to understand the site's opportunities and constraints. 05

STRUCTURES - WEAVERBIRD & LUNCHBOX The structural form was developed in Grasshopper using a parametric truss system. The surface is divided into U and V divisions to generate a grid, which is then transformed into triangular and diamond truss patterns. The truss depth and pipe radii are controlled parametrically, allowing the geometry, density and structural members to be adjusted while maintaining the overall form. The renders show the parametric truss structure, circulation and landscape integration, with people illustrating the scale and spatial experience of the pavilion. GRASSHOPPER SCRIPT 06

ENTRANCE TRIANGULATION MODEL & FABRICATION SCRIPT The entrance form was developed in Grasshopper using a parametric paneling workflow. The surface is divided into triangular and diamond panels, which are then transformed and oriented to create the final geometric pattern. Parameters such as surface divisions, panel size, spacing and pipe radius can be adjusted to control the form and its structural expression. The render shows the final form integrated with the landscape, creating a dynamic focal element within the open space. The flowing geometry frames the pathway while the surrounding planting, trees and soft landscape blend with the structure, creating a seamless connection between the built form and its surroundings. GRASSHOPPER SCRIPT 07

FABRICATION SCRIPT The final entrance visualization shows the parametric tensile structure with fabric panels integrated into the landscape. The changing angles of the frame create a dynamic gateway, while the lightweight fabric, structural frame and surrounding planting create a welcoming transition into the space.

S U B D M O D E L - F U R N I T U R E The form was developed using Contour and Loft commands in Rhino. Contour curves were generated to create a series of sectional profiles, which were then modified to explore different heights, curves and variations. The profiles were connected using the Loft command, creating a continuous and fluid surface while maintaining the overall flow of the form. The chair was developed using SubD, Contour and Split commands in Rhino to create a soft and ergonomic form. The SubD workflow helped shape the smooth base, while contour curves were used to study the form through repeated sections. The curves were then split and refined to create the final layered, cushion-like expression of the chair.Base ChairHorizontal SplitVertical splitDivisionWireframeRendered 08

R I G I D B U I L D I N G The design explores parametric modularity and porous façades through a series of three sculptural towers. Repetitive brick modules are arranged with controlled variations to create a dynamic woven skin, while recessed teal openings introduce light, ventilation, and visual depth. The three forms vary in height and geometry, demonstrating how a single modular system can generate different architectural expressions. Integrated pockets of greenery and human scale elements soften the structure and create a more interactive, biophilic environment. 09

K I N E T I C F A C A D E The kinetic facade uses a modular metal framework with movable fabric panels to create a dynamic building skin. The panels can change their angle in response to sunlight and environmental conditions, helping control glare and solar heat while creating changing patterns of light and shadow. The repetitive modules give the facade a lightweight, flexible and interactive character, while also adding visual movement to the building. The final form was baked from the parametric setup to create a fixed geometric model. This helped translate the Grasshopper- generated form into a clean, editable model for further detailing, visualization and fabrication. FORM DEVELOPMENT The form evolved through a series of surface manipulation, structural subdivision and panelisation. Starting with a simple curved surface, the form was transformed into a lightweight, undulating facade using a triangulated structural framework. The final stage introduces modular kinetic panels, creating a responsive skin that combines structure, movement and shading.Base CurveSupporting FrameWall Panel FrameKinetic PanelsFinal Version 10

S P I R A L S T A I R C A S E This staircase is designed as a sculptural spiral circulation element, where the stair flight wraps around a central structural column. The continuous curved form creates a strong sense of movement and vertical flow, making the staircase an architectural feature rather than just a circulation element. Central Spine: A vertical cylindrical column acts as the primary structural and visual anchor. Spiral Movement: The treads progressively rotate around the column, creating a smooth and dynamic upward movement. Floating Treads: Individual steps project from the central spine, giving the staircase a lightweight, almost floating appearance. Curved Handrail: A continuous curved railing follows the spiral geometry, reinforcing the fluidity of the design. Material Contrast: The muted structural elements contrast with the translucent turquoise stair/guard elements, adding visual depth. Form & Function: The design combines efficient vertical circulation with sculptural expression, turning the staircase into a focal point within the space. The top view highlights the radial geometry of the spiral staircase, with people moving along the steps and surrounding greenery emphasizing its organic, fluid circulation pattern. 11

W A L L J A L I P A T T E R N The jali screen was developed using a repeated geometric module, where a simple oval-shaped pattern was created and replicated through the Array command. The elements were systematically arranged along horizontal and vertical directions to form a continuous perforated surface. The repeated pattern was then given a curved, undulating form, creating variation in depth while maintaining a consistent visual rhythm. This approach demonstrates how parametric thinking and repetition can transform a simple geometry into a functional architectural screen for shading, privacy, and visual permeability. 12

VO R O N O I T U N N E L - G R A S S H O P P E R This form explores a fluid, organic structural system generated through irregular triangular and polygonal modules. The interconnected frame creates a lightweight, porous shell with varying heights and openings, producing a continuous undulating surface. The contrast between the dark structural framework and translucent infill panels emphasizes the geometry while allowing light to filter through. The overall form demonstrates how simple repeated geometries can be transformed into a dynamic, free-flowing architectural skin.
