Essentials for the Day PRE-SHOOT PREPARATIONS I promise you do not need to hire a professional cleaner or clear your home of all the newborn... “stuff”. I’m really good at getting creative with angles and I bring specific lenses that can crop out unwanted clutter. Your home does not need to be Pinterest perfect for your session. If you are motivated to prep, you can clear areas near big windows and clear bedside tables. But if you don’t get to that, I’m here to help you. Ask me anytime about my post partum journey... it was really rough so I will come in with zero judgement and zero expectations. 03JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM PREPPING YOUR HOME

Planning Your Outfits PRE-SHOOT PREPARATIONS If you’re interested, I do have lot’s of gowns in my client closet for moms. My pieces are picked specifically for how the way they fall beautifully on post partum bodies. If you would like me to bring some of my gowns, just let me know! I will bring my most popular dresses as well as any you specifically like. If you are wearing your own items, I suggest muted colors and neutrals. Our bodies change so much through pregnancy and post partum so make sure to choose something you feel good in and that fits well. I always bring swaddles, wraps, outfits and accesories for baby! 04JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM MY CLIENT CLOSET & MORE

Hair and Makeup Tips PRE-SHOOT PREPARATIONS If you are able, professional hair and make up looks so good on camera - it can also be a nice way to treat yourself prior to the session. Many hair and makeup artists will come to your home for convenience . If you are doing your own make up, a bit of extra contouring and eye makeup can look so beautiful on camera. 05JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM Don’t forget to give your hands some love. clean fresh nails for both mom and dad are important. We will do some photos that focus on your hands. If you want to wear polish, I recomend a soft pink, french manicure or a milky white.

What to Expect Upon Arrival DAY OF THE SHOOT While I suggest trying to feed baby about 10 minutes before arrival, I understand this isn’t always possible. On the other hand, if baby is ready but you still need some time, I’m happy to get started photographing baby while you finish up. Be prepared to feed baby a bit extra during the photoshoot. Since we are moving them around, they might need a little snack to settle them. This is totally normal and expected and shouldn’t affect your normal daily routine going forward. 06JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM

07 Posing with Siblings DAY OF THE SHOOT If big sister / brother is particularly hesitant aroud baby, just let me know. My own daughter was seriously NOT a fan of baby sister when she was born. I have plenty of ways of accomadate hesitant older siblings. My girls are besties now and I know yours will be too. But until then let’s cater to big sibling and make their part in the photoography session as easy as possible. I like to start the session making it about them rather than just another thing that’s baby centered. JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM

Posing with Pets! DAY OF THE SHOOT Pets can often get left out of family session but as a 2 cat and 1 dog owner, I know they are very much a part pf the family! I have some fun and creative poses to get them interacting with your little one. Add a special collar or bandanna for added cuteness. I might ask for a few treats to entice them to do what we need them to do. 08JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM

Day of Shoot Checklist WRAPPING IT UP Feed baby about 10 minutes before my arrival time and have them in an outfit that can be removed without pulling it over their head (unless you have an outfit you’d like to use instead of the wraps I bring). 09JENNCHENPHOTOGRAPHY.COM Pull out any special family items you’d like photographed with your baby. If possible, clear clutter near large windows - if you can’t get to this, I will absolutely help you on session day! Turn off over head lights and open any shades - I will use all natural light + my own light if needed. Leave extra time in the schedule if your session runs over. Most sessions are done in about 90 minutes but some can take 2 hours or even a bit longer.
