LEADING THE WAY ~ A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO As We Welcome Fall...A Season of Change at RES September has always felt like a month of transition. The days begin getting shorter, school is back in session, summer vacations wind down, and before long the leaves across Long Island will begin changing colors. Here are a few fun facts about fall you may not know: Meteorologists actually consider September 1st the first day of fall, while astronomical fall officially begins with the autumnal equinox—which this year occurs on September 22nd. The word equinox comes from Latin words meaning “equal” and “night,” referring to the time of year when day and night are approximately equal in length. And perhaps most fitting for this month's newsletter, the changing colors of autumn leaves aren't something trees suddenly add. As daylight decreases, trees produce less chlorophyll—the green pigment that normally dominates the leaf—allowing colors that were there all along to finally become visible. In some ways, that last fact feels especially appropriate for RES. Over the past several months, we have been talking about change, growth, and preparing our organization for the future. This fall, much of that work begins becoming visible. A New Chapter for RES Over the past 25 years, RES has developed an extraordinary reputation throughout Long Island and New York State for serving individuals with traumatic brain injury, neurological disabilities, and complex long-term care needs. Our work within the NHTD and TBI Waiver Programs remains an important part of who we are and will continue to be a foundation of RES. At the same time, the healthcare environment around us continues to change. Earlier this year, New York State increased the maximum number of participants authorized under the NHTD Waiver. Despite that increase, the program has once again reached its federally approved participant limit, and the Department of Health is currently unable to process additional NHTD referrals. The State continues to monitor enrollment and evaluate next steps. For RES, this reinforces something we have been discussing throughout 2026: We need to build upon our strengths while continuing to broaden who we are and the people we can serve.

Our experience in NHTD and TBI has taught us a tremendous amount about what it takes to help people remain successfully in their homes and communities. The next step is taking that experience and building upon it. Introducing the Next RES Over the coming months, you will begin seeing a broader message about who RES is. We are increasingly positioning RES not simply as a waiver provider, but as a Home and Community Based Long-Term Care organization capable of supporting people across a continuum of needs. That continuum may range from relatively modest support, care coordination and monitoring to extensive homecare services for someone who requires assistance throughout the day. Our goal is simple: Provide the right support, in the right place, at the right time. To help us communicate that message more effectively, we have begun working with Fishbat, a Long Island-based digital marketing firm, on a comprehensive RES branding and marketing initiative. This is much more than developing new advertisements. Fishbat will be working with our team to help us better communicate who RES is, improve our website and digital presence, strengthen our social media and outreach efforts, develop more effective ways of connecting with potential Community Members and families, and help us measure whether our marketing efforts are actually producing results. If you have visited our website or followed RES on social media, you have probably already noticed the breadth of what we do—from Homecare and Waiver Services to the RES Community Center, wellness activities, social programming, caregiver support, and community events. Over the coming months, our goal is to bring those pieces together into a much clearer story. Home & Community Based Support One of the concepts we will be developing as part of this effort is our Home & Community Based Support Program. The program begins not with a particular RES service, but with the person. We begin by asking: What does this individual need to live safely, successfully, and meaningfully in the community—and how can we provide that support in the most appropriate and cost-effective way possible? From there, an individualized support plan can be developed around three primary pillars:

Homecare Providing the hands-on assistance, supervision, nursing, rehabilitation, and other services someone may need where they live. RES Community Center Providing social connection, meaningful activities, wellness opportunities, cognitive stimulation, community participation, and respite for families and caregivers. Care Coordination Helping bring services, providers, caregivers, appointments, health information, and changing needs together into one coordinated plan. These three pillars can then be supplemented by the many other services and resources available through RES and within the broader community. The objective isn't to provide more services. It is to provide the right combination of services to promote independence, quality of life, safety, and long-term sustainability. The Hub: Supporting Care Coordination The Hub will increasingly support this model as our Care Coordination Platform. As I discussed last month, one of the most important things we learned during beta testing was that technology is most useful when it fits naturally into someone's life. People shouldn't have to remember to constantly log into another website in order for technology to help them. That is why our focus is increasingly on functions such as medication reminders, calendar and appointment notifications, mental-health check-ins, health information, monitoring, alerts, and communication. Think of The Hub as another tool available to our Care Coordinators, staff, Community Members, families, and caregivers to help make sure important information gets to the right person at the right time. Technology will never replace our staff or the relationships we have with the people we serve. Used appropriately, however, it can help those relationships work even better. A New Operating Structure If we're going to ask RES to grow and evolve, our organization must evolve with it.

That is why September also marks the beginning of several changes to our internal operating structure. These changes will be further outlined in next month's Inside Scoop. September: The Month of Ownership There is another word you will be hearing frequently over the coming months: Ownership. Not ownership of the company. Ownership of our responsibilities. As organizations grow, it becomes easy for responsibilities to overlap. When that happens, everyone may be involved in something while no one is completely responsible for making sure it gets done. We want to change that. Every RES Team Member should understand their responsibilities, and every manager and supervisor should increasingly be able to answer one straightforward question: What are the most important things I own? If something isn't completed correctly, consistently, or on time, who is ultimately responsible for recognizing the problem and making sure it gets resolved? Clear ownership isn't about blame. It is about creating an organization in which people understand their responsibilities, have the authority and support necessary to carry them out, and can be accountable for results. That clarity ultimately makes everyone's job easier—and, most importantly, improves the services we provide. Our leadership team will be spending considerable time this fall working through these changes, and we will be unveiling and implementing them over the remaining months of 2026. Don't Forget What Isn't Changing With all this discussion about rebranding, restructuring, marketing, technology, and new programs, I want to emphasize something equally important. We are not changing the fundamental mission of RES. In fact, we are trying to build upon it. For 25 years, our mission has been helping people with complex needs live successfully in their homes and communities. That remains our mission.

What is changing is our ability to deliver on it. We are expanding the tools available to us. We are improving our internal systems. We are working to reach more people who need our services. We are building stronger connections between Homecare, the Community Center, Care Coordination, Waiver Services, technology, and our other programs. And we are creating an organizational structure capable of supporting all of it. Help Tell the RES Story As our rebranding campaign moves forward, I encourage everyone to take another look at our website and follow RES on social media. More importantly, become part of the story. Some of our best examples of what makes RES special happen every day and never appear in a brochure. A staff member who goes the extra mile. A Community Member accomplishing something they didn't think they could do. A successful community outing. A caregiver finally getting a needed break. A new employee bringing a great idea to a program. A family telling us that something we did made their life a little easier. Those are the stories that define RES. If you see something worth celebrating, let your supervisor or our marketing team know. Our new marketing effort shouldn't simply tell people what services RES provides. It should show people who we are. One important part of this effort is strengthening our digital presence through Google Reviews. We are asking all departments to participate in this effort. Please work with your supervisor on implementation of this important goal.

Looking Ahead Fall is a season of change, but it is also traditionally a season of harvest—the time when the work that took place earlier in the year begins producing visible results. That seems particularly fitting this year. Much of what we have been working on since the beginning of 2026 is now moving from planning into implementation. Our organizational structure is changing. Our marketing and branding initiative is beginning. Our Homecare strategy is expanding. The Hub is transitioning into a practical Care Coordination tool. Our Community Center continues creating meaningful opportunities for connection and engagement. And through all of it, we remain engaged with New York State and our partners as the NHTD/TBI environment continues to evolve. There will undoubtedly be challenges along the way. Meaningful change is rarely completely comfortable. But RES did not become the organization it is today by standing still. For 25 years, we have adapted to changing regulations, changing healthcare systems, changing participant needs, workforce challenges, and countless other obstacles. We will continue doing exactly that. Thank you for your flexibility, your ideas, your hard work, and—most importantly—your continued commitment to the Community Members and families who depend upon us. I am genuinely excited about what we are building together this fall. Enjoy the beginning of the season, and as always, thank you for everything you do. ~ Dr. Joseph Vollaro Founder & CEO, RES Homecare

~Jodi Repperger President HAPPY SEPTEMBER, EVERYONE! My favorite month and time of year. I hope everyone enjoyed the summer, and you are getting ready for fall, back to school, and new beginnings. As they say, the only constant is change! Annual training should be completed by everyone at this point. If you have not completed it, you must contact your supervisor immediately, as you CANNOT work after 8/31. RES Home Care has completed the application process to become an approved waiver provider for Substance Abuse for the TBI waiver program. We are currently waiting for the approval from DOH. If anyone knows of a CASAC that is looking for additional hours or a full-time position, please have them contact Angie Ghani at aghani@restbiservices.com EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: Welcome to hurricane season! Please speak to your supervisor about what your role is during an emergency/disaster. All directions during an emergency/disaster will be recorded on our main phone number 631-732-4794, and on our website www.reshomecareli.com. Always communicate with your supervisor during these times, so there is no question. Be on the lookout for Emergency alerts. This is a good way to utilize telehealth to make sure your clients are safe and prepared in case of any emergency. Working with our clients to prepare an “emergency binder” with important numbers, and a disaster “kit” for extreme circumstances is a great way to implement this strategy with them so they are prepared. GOOGLE REVIEWS I am sure your supervisor has discussed the importance of google reviews and how it relates to our increased marketing efforts. Every department is assigned a specific week

in the month to get this completed. It can be a staff member, family member, client, etc. To make this easier for people, we have created a QR code that takes you straight to the google review. Please share with everyone so each department has 1 review per month. Here are the assignments for September: Community Services (PBIS, ILST, CIC)-Week 1- Week of August 31st HR and SC- Week 2- Week of September 6th Home Care- Week 3-Week of September 13th Day Program- Week 4 - Week of September 20th BIANYS is hosting their annual “March On for Brain Injury” fundraiser/walk. Please be on the lookout for announcements regarding the walk, donations, and fundraising efforts. RES has formulated our team called Team RESilience. Please speak to your clients about participating in the walk. RES and the Hub will be sponsoring the event, and there will be tables for both companies there. We would love to see how many of our clients and staff will support our efforts in assisting with these fundraising efforts for BIANYS. The walk will take place on September 26th at Eisenhauer Park. Registration starts at 10am and the walk starts at 12pm. Fundraising efforts will be leading up to the event. Stay tuned….

Auditing update Did you know that completing a box on HHA Exchange without a note or without any duties checked is Medicaid Fraud? Billing Medicaid without documenting exactly what was done with the client during your session is Medicaid Fraud, and as an agency, we can either provide the documentation, or disclose to Medicaid that this session was billed in error, and return the money to Medicaid. Having to go back is not acceptable. Please when completing notes/boxes on HHA Exchange, you understand that hitting the “save” button ensures on your part that you are confirming that everything necessary to bill has been completed. Please know that what you do on a day-to-day basis is extremely important from an audit perspective. Ask yourself: Am I timely with my documents? Did I attend monthly supervision? Would someone be able to read my notes, if necessary? Did I justify the service in my note? Am I calling in and out? If I borrowed annual hours, did I justify the reasoning in my note? If there is something you would like to see posted (photos, announcements or acknowledgments) please send Christina an email and let her know cchebuske@restbiservices.com Make sure you follow us on social media for upcoming events, announcements and more!

That’s A Wrap on September’s Headlines! Thank You for Staying Connected & Stay Tuned for More Insights Next Month!

ON THE SPOT RECOGNITION This month, we’re proud to recognize Kelly, one of our outstanding Service Coordination Supervisor for our September On-The-Spot! I can’t think of an employee as deserving of this award as Kelly. Kelly has a very tough caseload in the month of August. Specifically, she has taken on a huge caseload after being down a Service Coordinator, and she has been able to catch up on all necessary documents, service plans, and still enroll multiple participants onto the waiver. Kelly approaches each day with a plan and pivots whenever necessary. She continues to remain organized, responsive and dedicated to meeting the needs of the clients and providing supervision to her team. Despite challenges in the SC department, Kelly maintains professionalism, completes documentation timely, follow through on responsibilities and provides quality support. Her ability to effectively manage a high caseload while maintaining attention to detail and strong service delivery is commendable. Kelly Gonzalez Service Coordination Department
