RATIONALE We created this magazine to help readers understand Taekwondo, its techniques, history, training, and the experiences of a Taekwondo athlete. It teaches discipline, respect, patience, confidence, and determination. We also want to show that the lessons learned in Taekwondo can be applied in our studies, relationships, and everyday life. The challenges faced during training can teach us to stay focused, keep trying, and never give up easily. As BSN 1-Moonstone students, we hope that this magazine will help readers appreciate Taekwondo, understand the hard work behind the sport, and value the lessons it teaches both in training and in life.

Taekwondo means “the way of the foot and fist.” However, its true meaning goes beyond physical movements and fighting. Taekwondo teaches discipline, respect, self control, confidence, and perseverance. Every kick, stance, and technique requires focus and practice. It teaches us that being strong is not only about physical strength, but also about having the courage to face challenges and continue even when things become difficult. THE TRUE MEANING OF TAEKWONDOTaekwondo is a way of developing both the body and the mind while learning values that can be used in everyday life.

As BSN 1 Moonstone students, learning Taekwondo through online classes was challenging for us. It was sometimes hard to understand the movements and techniques because we were only watching and following through a screen. Some movements were difficult to follow and perform correctly without someone guiding us closely. We believe that if we had face to face training, we could understand the techniques better, ask questions more easily, and receive proper guidance while practicing. Even with these challenges, the experience helped us realize the importance of patience, focus, and practice when learning something new. OUR EXPERIENCE

TAEKWONDO HISTORY Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that has a long history. The name Taekwondo comes from three Korean words: “Tae,” which means foot or kicking, “Kwon,” which means fist or hand, and “Do,” which means way or discipline. Taekwondo developed from traditional Korean martial arts and became more organized in Korea during the 20th century. In 1973, the first World Taekwondo Championships were held in Seoul, South Korea.

Taekwondo continued to grow around the world and became an official Olympic sport at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.Today, Taekwondo is practiced in many countries not only as a competitive sport but also as a way to develop discipline, respect, confidence, and self control.

Taekwondo has different techniques that help athletes move, attack, and defend properly. Some basic techniques include stances, punches, blocks, and kicks such as the front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, and back kick. BASIC TAEKWONDO TECHNIQUES

Aside from learning physical techniques, Taekwondo also teaches five important values called the 5 TENETS OF TAEKWONDO 1. Courtesy – Show respect and kindness to others. 2. Integrity – Do what is right and be honest. 3. Perseverance – Keep trying even when things are difficult. 4. Self Control – Control your words, actions, and emotions. 5. Indomitable Spirit – Stay strong and never give up when facing challenges.

THE BELT SYSTEMWhite Belt – Represents a beginner and a new beginning. Yellow Belt – Represents the foundation of learning. Green Belt – Represents growth and improvement. Blue Belt – Represents continued learning and progress. Red Belt – Represents danger and reminds the student to control their skills. Black Belt – Represents maturity, discipline, and advanced knowledge. The belt system in Taekwondo shows the progress and level of a student. Each belt represents the skills, knowledge, and effort gained through training. Students move through different belt levels as they improve their techniques and learn the values of Taekwondo.
