THE LICEAN RESILIENCE & RELATIONSHIP GUIDEWALK THE PATHWALK THE PATHWALK THE PATHMY JOURNEY TO GROW, CONNECT, AND THRIVE
Specific I will start every assigned task within 24 hours of receiving it and share my thoughts/answers in class at least twice per week, despite feeling nervous. Measurable I will track: ✅ tasks started on time, ✅ times I spoke up, ✅ times I caught myself comparing to others and shifted focus back to my own growth. Achievable I will break big tasks into small, simple steps so they feel less scary; I will prepare 1–2 things to say before class to build confidence. Relevant Overcoming self-doubt will help me show my true potential, build stronger voice and confidence, and live out Excellence not by being perfect, but by doing my best. Time-bound I will sustain this for the next 8 weeks (this entire term). Evaluated Every Sunday, I will ask: Did I act despite fear? Did I focus on my progress, not others’ perfection? I will adjust my plan if something blocks me. Rewarded For every week I stay consistent, I will acknowledge my bravery and treat myself to something I love: reading, drawing, or time with people who lift me up.PERSONAL CHALLENGE / RISK FACTORSelf-doubt and fear of failure — I often hesitate to start tasks or speak up because I worry my work isn’t “good enough” or I’ll make mistakes. This slows me down, keeps me from sharing my ideas, and makes me compare myself to others instead of focusing on my own progress.MY S.M.A.R.T.E.R. GOAL
My Conflict Dynamic I often withdraw and stay silent when family or friends give feedback or correct me. I take it as criticism, feel unappreciated, and pull away instead of talking — so they think I’m stubborn or ungrateful, while I feel hurt and misunderstood. MY NOVEL SOLUTION To resolve this, I will practice Receptive Listening and Self Compassionate Communication. I will start by pausing before I pull away taking a breath to remind myself: feedback is not rejection; it is care, even when it feels hard to hear. I will listen fully, without planning my defense, and say back what I understand to make sure: “So what I hear is… Did I get that right?” This shows I value their perspective. Then I will share gently: “I appreciate you caring about me. Sometimes when I get corrected, I feel like I’ve done something wrong and I need a little time to process, but I am listening.” I will ask them to share what they see, and I will share how I feel so we both see the full picture. We will agree on small kindnesses: they will start with what they believe in me; I will speak up instead of disappearing when I feel overwhelmed. By choosing openness over silence, and understanding over defensiveness, we turn criticism into connection because real relationships aren’t about never disagreeing; they’re about caring enough to understand.CONFLICT RESOLUTION CASE APPLICATION
