july 28, 2008The BeginningMy ChildhoodStarting Kumon20102011 My journey started here, in a hospital in the city where my parents both grew up. Although I was too young to remember this very day, it marked the beginning of life. One that would gradually unfold through the experiences I encountered, and the choices I’d make. Life often begins with something we cannot yet fully comprehend for we simply begin, and only later do we look back and find its meaning. From day one, I was a reserved kid, the opposite of my mother’s sociable nature. Though we were far from being alike, we were inseparable. My father worked abroad, so we lived in Singapore for a few years before returning to the Philippines for my schooling. My parents were my first teachers, shaping the values and beliefs that would eventually become a part of who I am. At three years old, I began Kumon’s Reading and Mathematics program, giving me the first taste of actual education. Being a kid, there were times where I wanted to just quit. Yet I still pursued, persevering despite all the hardship that came with it because I knew how much it would help me in the long run. These lessons would later become important in my journey as a student.

May 5, 2018This was where I began discovering who I was outside of home. I discovered my love for reading, became more open, and formed friendships I keep up with until now. I came to see my identity as being shaped by the people and experiences around me as much as how I mold it myself.Elementary Days2014-2019Losing my LolaThe PandemicMarch, 2020Dealing with grief is hard, especially in a place where you least expect it to happen. Being so young at the time, I struggled to understand why someone I loved had to leave so soon. It taught me to cherish every moment I had with the people I love and made me begin to start asking questions about life and death.High school did not begin the way I anticipated it to as the pandemic forced us into isolation. During a time when everything felt uncertain, I clung to the hope of better days for comfort. I learned that faith does not always mean having the answers to questions, sometimes, it meant continuing to trust despite the uncertainty.

Once the world opened up again, I slowly returned to who I was pre- pandemic. I socialized more, became happier, and learned to appreciate the simple experience of being around others. After experiencing the pandemic, I realized how much of my life was shaped by my community. The CETS season left me feeling exhausted, uncertain of myself, and at times wondering if I had the strength to continue. I leaned on my friends and family for support and understood that I was never meant to face everything on my own. That reaching out never meant I was weak, but was the very strength I needed to keep going.2022A Life of Normalcy2023-2024RapunZpill!2024-2026What began as a simple research project eventually became something I was genuinely passionate about. Working with my group showed me how much stronger I could become when surrounded by people who shared the same purpose. Our purpose as a community is best expressed through action, especially when we use what we have to create something meaningful for others.CETs Season

March 31, 2026Looking back, I’ve seen how much 6 years can change a person. The journey was difficult, but seeing the results of my hard work made it feel worthwhile. More than the achievements themselves, I was grateful for the person I had become through all the experiences along the way. At the same time, I know I would miss the familiarity of the routine I had built for myself over the past years—the rhythm of school life, the people I saw every day, and the sense of stability that came with it— but, I am eager to see what comes next.August 2026High School GraduationStarting Over AgainCollege has brought new routines, faces, and an unfamiliar environment, making me feel queasy with uncertainty once again. However, looking back at my timeline reminds me that uncertainty has always been part of my journey, and despite that, I have always found a way forward. What lies ahead may be unknown, but what matters most is that I continue to carry hope within my heart, for it’s in this belief that everything shall fall into place eventually.
