01FEBRUARY-APRIL, 2026GPSA-EUHS SRC HANDING OVER CEREMONY A New Chapter Begins The Entrance University of Health Sciences Students’ Representative Council officially welcomed its 2026/2027 leadership during a memorable handover ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter in student governance. The event celebrated the dedication and achievements of the outgoing executives while introducing a new team committed to serving the student body with passion, innovation, and excellence. As leadership changes hands, the university community looks forward to fresh perspectives, stronger collaboration, and continued progress in enriching student life. WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY OUTREACH To commemorate World Oral Health Day, the Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation of Ghana (PSFGH), in collaboration with GPSA-EUHS, successfully organized a community oral health outreach aimed at promoting better oral hygiene and increasing awareness about preventive dental care. The outreach provided an opportunity for students to educate members of the community on the importance of maintaining good oral health while encouraging healthy habits that contribute to overall well-being. Through teamwork, education, and community engagement, the initiative reflected our shared commitment to improving public health—one smile at a time.Drug Spotlight: Zepbound This edition highlights Zepbound an innovative medication approved for chronic weight management in eligible adults which works by mimicking naturally occurring hormones that help regulate appetite and food intake, enabling patients to feel fuller for longer and reduce cravings.MENTAL HEALTH WELLBEING Mental well-being and financial wellness go hand in hand. During Mental Health Week, students were reminded that caring for their mental health is just as important as pursuing academic success. The campaign encouraged students to seek support when needed, and embrace budgeting as a tool for reducing financial stress .
02FEBRUARY-APRIL, 2026GPSA-EUHS Early pharmacies served flavored carbonated water with medicinal syrups, leading to the creation of modern soda shops and Coca-Cola.A common habit is combining Western prescription drugs with local herbal mixtures to "speed up healing", yet doing this without a pharmacist’s guidance can cause dangerous chemical reactions, leading to sudden liver or kidney damage. GPSA DEBATE CLUB The GPSA Debate Club, established in the first semester of 2026 under the leadership of GPSA Vice President **Rachel **Otchere , has quickly made its mark at Entrance University of Health Sciences. Since its inception, the club has advanced to the semifinals of the FOJET Debate Competition and instituted the SRC Week Debate Competition, where RX27 emerged as champions. These achievements reflect the club’s commitment to developing confident communicators, critical thinkers, and future pharmacy leaders. MYTH 🆚 FACT MYTH “Healthy people don’t need vaccines because their immune system is strong enough.” FACT Vaccines are important for everyone, not just people with weak immune systems. They train your body’s immune system to recognize and fight diseases before you are exposed. Vaccination also protects vulnerable people in the community —such as babies, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems—through community (herd) immunity.
03FEBRUARY-APRIL, 2026GPSA-EUHS Dr.(PharmD) Deborah Akosua Ziona Hodoli National Assistant Secretary, CPPA Meet Dr.(PharmD) Deborah Akosua Ziona Hodoli, a pharmacist house officer at KNUST Hospital and a community pharmacist, who is passionate about public health, passionate about leadership, with youth empowerment as well. She is currently serving as the national assistant secretary for the Community Practice Pharmacists of Association, CPPA Ghana. Beyond practice, she enjoys teaching in educational context, and she loves using her voice to inspire others. Since graduating from Entrance University of Health Sciences she says that one of her biggest achievements has been transitioning from an student leadership to national professional leadership all while she remains committed to serving and also making healthcare more accessible to those in the community that she serves.While in school, she had the privilege of serving in several leadership positions including general secretary of both SRC and GPSA of Entrance University of Health Sciences. For Dr. Hodoli, balancing academic leadership responsibilities and personal growth wasn't always easy but it taught her how to manage pressure, prioritize better and serve with excellence. Pharmacy school she would say was one of the most challenging most broadening seasons, she recalls wanting to give up at one point but most of the association she had gave her words of encouragement that helped her to go through that phase of her life. In her words, it taught her far more than pharmacology and therapeutics but it actually did teach her resilience discipline and the importance of talent. Since graduation her work has gone beyond dispensing medications to realize that how much change educated leaders and advocate pharmacists make today. She is passionate about promoting healthcare and improve community healthcare information, mentoring and creating opportunities that inspire people to discover their potential. She wants all pharmacy students to know that every conversation and every act of service has a potential to change their lives. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

05FEBRUARY-APRIL, 2026GPSA-EUHS Editor-in-chief's remarks by Justice Mawuli Kwasi Alormene I thank the Almighty God for how far we have come as an association. I give thanks to God for the pacesetters who, in God's own infinite wisdom, established the foundational leadership system for our noble association. The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association at the University of Health Sciences has undergone rigorous and successive administrations, which were paired with the Student Representative Council. However, today we have witnessed a significant transition in leadership within the association, where the leadership of the association is now separated from that of the Student Representative Council of our noble school.Amidst the challenges faced by the current administration, there were still some successes. In the same light, this administration has decided to introduce Rx Chronicles. This is a newsletter that brings the voices of the association together on one informed page. It is an initiative that highlights the events occurring in GPSA- EUHS and any other entertainment or educational activities happening within the association. This initiative was born out of the Editorial Committee of the association, led by Justice Mawuli Kwasi Alormene, a leader who believes that GPSA-EUHS can have a common goal, vision, and a sense of community if we have a shared platform to exchange our views, ideas, initiatives, and to showcase the wonderful things the association does. Rx Chronicles has come to stay, and I believe it will continue to make an impact in the future. Long Live GPSA-EUHS, Long live Entrance University of Health Sciences, Long live Ghana. Thank you, GPSA-EUHS, for giving me the opportunity to lead. Thanks also to the Apraku-Otchere led administration for this wonderful opportunity, and thank God for this day.
