University of the Philippines Los Baños Ugnayan ng Pahinungód Habi: Mga Hibla ng Paglilingkod na Bumuo sa Ika-Tatlumpu’t Tatlong Taon ng UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungód Program Proposal for the 33rd Inception Anniversary of the UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungód

Habi: Mga Hibla ng Paglilingkod na Bumuo sa Ika-Tatlumpu’t Tatlong Taon ng UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod I. Background and Rationale As the UP Los Banos - Ugnayan ng Pahinungod celebrates its 33rd inception anniversary, much of its achievements remain at the forefront of its commemoration. The office, for 32 years, has remained grounded in the advent of volunteerism and communal well-being, where society, education, health, and the environment are interwoven to represent the holistic perspective that collectives bank on. Much is the same as the office prepares to celebrate its 33rd anniversary, as its staff and volunteers continue to connect with entities within and beyond the campus premises to deliver genuine service to underserved communities. Through the office’s annual reports, the masses are made aware of the leaps and bounds defined by Pahinungod’s staff in pursuit of true and genuine service to the people. In Habi: Mga Hibla ng Paglilingkod na Bumuo sa Ika-Tatlumpu’t Tatlong Taon ng UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, we look at such defiance with great enthusiasm and view the office’s 33rd inception anniversary as the 33rd page in its ever-growing book characterized by service to the nation. The theme highlights the office’s close links to society, education, health, the environment, and livelihood through its lineup of events meant to put emphasis on these aspects of life. Each chosen aspect of society is treated as threads that complete the tapestry of Pahinungod’s service to the underserved and underprivileged. However, this does not mean that the tapestry is close to done, even with its decades of conceived progress. If anything, the office still has leaps to go in terms of serving the communities it has yet to serve and the people it has yet to reach. And so, in this proposal, we honor continuity while keeping in mind the nature of work that the office prides itself in, along with the limited resources, finances, and manpower. II. Activity Lineup and Description 1. [Youth] Dugsong Lahi: Fostering Innate Communal Nature. Dugsong-Lahi is the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod’s Inception Anniversary opening event, aimed at fostering a sense of communal connection between the delegates of the program and its beneficiaries. The activity not only aims to serve as a team-building exercise for the volunteers and staff of UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, but also as aprogram meant to serve the children in

Tahanan ng Ama, an underserved small community run by local nuns in Tuntungin-Putho, Los Banos. 2. [Environment] IMIS (Integrated Management for Island Sanitation). IMIS is a multi-phase, week-long coastal cleanup and environmental education campaign focused on targeted critical shorelines of Laguna de Bay. The project focuses heavily on sustainable execution to ensure that volunteers do not merely collect garbage but actively participate in waste segregation, characterization, and local policy dialogue. 3. [Health] MALAYA: A Hybrid Mental Health Awareness Symposium. This activity functions as a highly collaborative, one-day hybrid symposium designed to simultaneously connect physical attendees on-campus with remote participants across regional institutional frameworks. To ensure broad structural coverage and localized safety nets, the activity features multi-sectoral institutional integration. 4. [Economy] Lingap-Lokal: UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Trade Fair 2026. A two-week trade fair/bazaar aimed at putting local artisans and craftsmen at the forefront of exposure within the UPLB campus, by partnering with providers who are looking for platforms to promote their products and services. 5. [Culture] Pahina ng Pahinungod: Isang Kultural na Selebrasyon. Pahinang Pahinungod, as its name suggests, aims to serve as a night of recollection meant to celebrate the inception of UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod and its numerous achievements. III. Dugsong-Lahi: Fostering Innate Communal Nature I. Background and Rationale Dugsong-Lahi is the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod’s Inception Anniversary opening event, aimed at fostering a sense of communal connection between the delegates of the program and its beneficiaries. The activity not only aims to serve as a team-building exercise for the volunteers and staff of UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, but also as a program meant to serve the children in Tahanan ng Ama, an underserved small community run by local nuns in Tuntungin-Putho, Los Banos. By kickstarting the month-long celebration with this activity, UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod not only gets the opportunity to connect with its members, staff, and volunteers (thus threading connections), but also succeeds in giving back to the community at its closest proximity. The rationale behind choosing Tahanan ng Ama as the event’s prospective partner is due to its supposed lack of support as well as the convenience aspect involved in partnering with the community. Given its close proximity to the office’s headquarters where staff, members, and volunteers convene, the logistical matters involved in the activity can be mitigated a lot easier (i.e. transportation of people and resources for the event, securing permits in partnership with Tahanan ng Ama). II. Activity Description Dugsong-Lahi will consist of a lineup of games, aimed at engaging the delegates with the community they aim to immerse themselves in. The game segments shall be divided into two categories: Larong Lahi and Dugsong Lahi. Larong Lahi as a segment shall consist of the typical Filipino games where camaraderie and communication are central. The lineup of games follow a structure of: 1. Patintero 2. Agaw-Base 3. Doktor Kwak-kwak All the proposed games are not only traditionally well-known, but also require a sense of connection between the players in order to reach a common goal of winning. Given the idea that the event is both a team-building exercise and outreach program, both Ugnayan ng Pahinungod volunteers and Tahanan ng Ama beneficiaries are allowed to participate to build and further establish a sense of rapport.

Meanwhile, Dugsong Lahi as the second segment of the event shall aim to serve as more of an interpersonal way of connecting with everyone involved. While the approach is still gamified in a way, the activity is aimed at building a sense of closeness among the participants minus the physical strain, and with more emphasis on quick-thinking. The lineup of games are as follows: 1. Tumpakners 2. Charades After the games, there shall be a film-viewing and roundtable sharing where all participants, facilitators, and volunteers gather around a circle and each given a turn to talk about their experiences with the activities. Following this, the facilitators shall initiate a brief discussion about fostering and strengthening a sense of community between the people involved by gaining the perspectives of the participants. This type of arrangement ensures that not only is there a promotion of a light and fun atmosphere with the conduct of the games, but that there is also an informative nature behind the lineup of activities for the event where everyone is given a chance to share what they know about communal connection and its role in furthering the interpersonal nature of community-building. To conclude the event, UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod aims to give back to the community in the form of school supply donations like stationeries and, if possible, garments that can be used for the children’s educational endeavors. IMIS (Integrated Management for Island Sanitation) I. Background and Rationale The environmental integrity of Laguna de Bay is deeply tied to the socio-economic and public stability of its surrounding lakeside communities. Over the years, rapid urbanization, improper solid waste disposal, and industrial runoff have severely compromised its shorelines, endangering local aquatic ecosystems and the livelihoods of small-scale fisherfolk. In response to this ecological crisis, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod launches Integrated Management for Island Sanitation or shortly, IMIS (a name drawn from the Romblomanon term meaning to clean up, organize or put things back in order). Scheduled for the second week of the month-long celebration for Ugnayan ng Pahinungod’s 33rd Inception Anniversary, this initiative shifts the volunteer focus towards environmental stewardship and grassroots climate action. This activity recognizes that sustainable ecological recovery cannot be achieved through isolated volunteer efforts alone. Therefore, IMIS is built on an active co-management framework that bridges UPLB academic volunteer blocks with frontline Local Government Units (LGUs) and municipal stakeholders, converting a localized clean-up into a structured and data-driven environmental intervention. II. Activity Description IMIS is a multi-phase, week-long coastal cleanup and environmental education campaign focused on targeted critical shorelines of Laguna de Bay. The project focuses heavily on sustainable execution to ensure that volunteers do not merely collect garbage but actively participate in waste segregation, characterization, and local policy dialogue. The initiative functions through three (3) core operational tracks: a) Mobilization and Orientation Phase i) This phase includes setting the community baseline, handling cross-organizational logistics, and equipping volunteers with safety protocols. b) Advocacy and Training Phase i) This phase includes conducting community-focused ecological seminars to ensure the lakeside populations are left with long term waste management. c) Execution Cleanup Phase

i) This phase is a synchronized, heavily coordinated coastal clearing operations day utilizing central LGU transportation hubs, culminating in immediate ecological synthesis and volunteer recognition. MALAYÀ: A Hybrid Mental Health Awareness Symposium I. Background and Rationale As the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod marks its historical milestone of public service, it remains vital to address the internal, psychological realities of the primary drivers of volunteerism—the student section. The modern academic landscape exposes college students to multi-layered stressors, including prolonged academic burnout, imposter syndrome, and transitional anxieties as they look towards life after graduation. Entitled MALAYÀ: A Hybrid Mental Health Awareness Symposium, this third event bridges institutional boundaries to strip away the long-standing stigma surrounding psychological distress. Rather than executing a standard information seminar, the layout deliberately transitions from macro-level group dynamics to specific and targeted vulnerabilities, ensuring that the discourse translates directly into accessible coping mechanics and workplace survival strategies. II. Activity Description This activity functions as a highly collaborative, one-day hybrid symposium (September 16, 2026) designed to simultaneously connect physical attendees on-campus with remote participants across regional institutional frameworks. To ensure broad structural coverage and localized safety nets, the activity features multi-sectoral institutional integration. The program flows across two distinct, intentional conceptual layers: a) The General Landscape (Macro-Level) i) A comprehensive overview analyzing collective youth behavioral patterns, systemic campus fatigue, and cross-campus data validation using real-time digital entry systems. b) Sector-Specific Realities (Micro-Level) i) Targeted breakout tracks dealing with specialized socioeconomic stress points. These include workforce entry anxieties, employment-undergraduate balance friction, and institutional counseling onboarding. Strict operational guidelines will be maintained throughout the hybrid setup to ensure confidentiality, psychological safety, and rapid-response crisis monitoring during the virtual and physical breakout sessions.

III. Program Flow This is the ideal program flow for the hybrid symposium, structured explicitly around a general-to-specific architectural timeline. It is subject to minor adjustments based on institutional speaker schedules and technical network routing contingencies. Lingap-Lokal: UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Trade Fair 2026 I. Background and Rationale As UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod celebrates its 33rd Inception Anniversary, it is worth noting that a great contingent of partners who have committed themselves to fostering a connection with the program comes from craftsmen/women and local businesses offering an array of products and services. As part of the program’s annual commemoration, the UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod shall launch Lingap-Lokal, a two-week-long trade fair in partnership with local artisans and businesses in the province of Laguna. The lineup of concessionaires shall consist of prospective partners from municipalities all around the province (e.g. Bay, Luisiana, Cavinti, San Pablo, etc.) whose products range from handicrafts, footwear, condiments, and other food products that may well serve as souvenirs for tourists. Apart from this, UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod shall aim to partner with local food establishments to fill the concessionaire slots and give a much needed opportunity for underrated businesses to promote their products. The idea behind making the trade fair two weeks is to maximize the possible inflow and outflow of people. Additionally, given the calendar date for its prospective launch, the trade fair would be able to accommodate a hefty number of people within the campus, as the semester kicks off. Not only does this allow a platform for local businesses to extend their reach, but also gain an opportunity to profit off the needs and wants of their target market. II. Activity Description Lingap-Lokal shall commence during the first week of September and shall run until the second week. It shall be held on the Baker Hall Grounds near the Freedom Park and Student Union Building where multiple trade fairs and bazaars have been held. The rationale behind this venue is in order to maximize the number of people and concessionaires that can participate in the fair without the space being a hassle for foot traffic. The lineup of concessionaires shall include (but are not limited to) handicraft artisans like the Luisiana Weavers, Bayenas, Los Banos Women’s Brigade, Kleopatra Group of Women, Laguna Bamboo, Malikhaing Maria, Mang Ed’s Gawang Matibay Yarn, Yumi & Yuri Pasalubong Shop, EFF Footwear Store, and Jatrick’s Footwear. The lineup of food

establishments have yet to be determined, but shall most likely include local businesses like Pex, Papu’s Siomai, Mangata Cafe, Joe’s Inasal, and many others. The securing of the venue as well as the other permits shall be in partnership with UPLB BAO, as they spearhead matters with regard to the launch of trade fairs and bazaars within the UPLB campus. In some instances, it is also possible for UPLB offices to have venue permits waived when there is a conduct of an activity, so a possible partnership with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs cannot be ruled out, which will reduce costs significantly. The subsequent partners shall also be in communication with the office in order to ensure that all the documents needed for their participation in the fair are aligned with the office’s requirements. Pahina ng Pahinungod: Isang Kultural na Selebrasyon I. Background and Rationale Given UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod’s long line of achievements as a volunteer extension of the UPLB System, it is only just that the month-long inception anniversary celebration be capped off by a cultural night that aims to bring together the staff and volunteers under the office. The rationale behind choosing to do a cultural night as a form of celebration and commemoration for the office’s accomplishments is to effectively provide a platform for Ugnayan ng Pahinungod’s very own homegrown artists who, upon agreement with the office, shall opt to share their artistry with everyone involved in the celebration. Additionally, the conduct of a cultural night adds depth to what would otherwise be a one-sided commemoration of accolades by promoting the culture that grounds the office’s staff, volunteers, and members as observed through the artforms that they shall share to the audience. The activity is meant to be lighthearted in nature, encouraging a free-spirited approach to the idea of walking down memory lane as the office recounts its fondest memories of volunteerism and the people who have gone alongside such a long and tedious journey. Not only is the event aimed at giving credit and acknowledging those who have been a part of UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, but it also aims to provide a space where all staff, volunteers, and members can mingle for the night and build a strengthened connection. II. Activity Description Pahinang Pahinungod, as its name suggests, aims to serve as a night of recollection meant to celebrate the inception of UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod and its numerous achievements. The cultural night will run for 4 hours, with an array of activities lined up to act as a platform for the artists and esteemed volunteers of Pahinungod who deserve subsequent recognition for their meaningful contributions to the volunteer efforts of the office. Pahinang Pahinungod shall kickstart with a few opening remarks from the Chancellor, before transitioning into an original song performance by a batch of student volunteers, highlighting the experiences of what it’s like to serve communities as a volunteer. Themes of the song can highlight weathering through struggles with lack of resources, and the countless hours poured into ensuring that the programs and activities to be offered to communities and partner organizations are aligned with the core of Pahinungod, which emphasizes selfless offering of

oneself. This opening performance will have a runtime of 10 minutes, in order to allow the next segment to transition more seamlessly. After the opening song from the student volunteers, there will be 4 testimonials (1 student volunteer, 1 alumni volunteer, 1 faculty volunteer, and 1 community partner representative), meant to give the audience a more in-depth insight into the 3 testees’ individual experiences as volunteers, along with the coordination experiences of one chosen community partner of Pahinungod, underlining how the office builds rapport inside and outside the confines of UPLB’s walls. This ensures that the grounding of the testimonies is rooted in the idea of a collective and familiar experience that all members might be able to attest to. Following the testimonials will be a shared dinner experience, during which a program showcase will take place. The program showcase will run for about 30 minutes, playing AVPs of the various sections of the office, highlighting the programs under them and what they do in pursuit of community service. KMM, CDI, and VMD, as well as other AVPs from the office shall play during the timespan. After the dinner and program showcase, there will be an interactive segment which will run for 15 minutes. The interactive segment shall feature a “Guess the Program” activity, where everyone in attendance can participate. Participants will have to guess the program based on the images being flashed by the emcees, and those who get the right answers will receive small token bags. This encourages participation and ensures that everyone in attendance is still mentally present, while also fostering a bit of fun in the form of a game. With the conclusion of the testimonials, a feature video shall be played to represent the office’s 33rd year as the official volunteer extension arm of the university, its significant projects and events, and the many graduates, faculty, and alumni who have all opted to let the spirit of volunteerism shine in their pursuit for both honor and excellence. Following this will be the closing program, a candle-lighting ceremony where all participants will stand in a circle and will be given either an LED candle or a small light. The emcee shall guide the participants with a reflection, emphasizing how one act of service inspires another, while participants pass the light to one another, symbolizing the spread of the spirit of volunteerism. An awarding of certificates for the testees and partner communities will take place, before the closing remarks of UPLB Pahinungod’s Director, marking the conclusion of the Cultural Night.
