For 15 years, our community has been bringing quality English-language theatre to audiences in Kuwait. That is part of an extraordinary tradition going back 79 years, and one that we are incredibly proud to continue. It doesn't happen by accident. It happens because people show up, roll up their sleeves, share their talents, and work together to create something worth sharing. Keeping community theatre going is not always easy, and this production has certainly had its share of challenges. Since beginning production, there have been moments when getting The Addams Family onto the stage felt impossible. But here we are! I want to offer a particular congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Dave Heslip and Guled Hassan, our co-director / co- producer team, whose determination, patience and perseverance have been instrumental in seeing this production through. Bringing a show to life is no small undertaking at the best of times, let alone when circumstances beyond our control turn everything upside down. I also want to take a moment to thank our committee, who have graciously taken on the responsibility of ensuring these shows and our community events happen. I am equally grateful to our performers, production teams, backstage crews, and the many volunteers who give so much of themselves to every show. Whether you've been involved for years or have only just joined us, you are part of what makes this community so special. And of course, thank you to our audiences. Your continued support allows us to keep doing what we love, to welcome new people into the theatre, and to ensure that this wonderful tradition continues for years to come. There's something fitting about The Addams Family being a celebration of the fabulously unusual people we call family. After all, community theatre is a family of its own, a little chaotic at times, full of big personalities, but always brought together by a shared love of what we do. Thank you for being part of ours. Enjoy the show!Bridget Everett Chairman Community Theatre CommitteeStaged in Kuwait Community TheatreWelcome to The Addams Family! One of the things I love most about community theatre is the people who make it happen. Every production you see on the stage of the beautiful Performing Arts Centre here at The English School represents countless hours of work, dedication, creativity and, perhaps most importantly, people generously giving their time simply because they love theatre.

This production has truly been one to remember...VIBES. As longtime members of the Staged in Kuwait community, we have both been involved in various productions over the years. Two friends with different strengths, perspectives, and creative approaches (but perhaps one shared brain!) decided to join forces and take on the exciting challenge of directing and producing a show together for the very first time. What started as a simple conversation over coffee soon turned into something much bigger. From making that initial decision, to choosing The Addams Family, certainly no small undertaking, to watching our sketches, ideas, and creative concepts gradually come to life on stage, it has been an incredible journey. Of course, the road hasn't been without its challenges. This past year brought unexpected obstacles, including the difficult decision to postpone the musical to the following season. But through it all, we persevered, supported by an extraordinary cast and production team who continued to believe in this show as much as we did. To every cast member, crew member, volunteer, and everyone who has contributed behind the scenes... thank you. Your dedication, patience, creativity, and unwavering support have made this production possible. Without you, there would be no show. We are beyond grateful and this is a journey that will stay with both of us forever. And now, after all the planning, laughter, challenges, and countless hours of hard work, we finally get to share it with you. Sit back, embrace the wonderfully weird, and enjoy The Addams Family! SULTAN ALKAZMI - GOMEZ ADDAMS IZZY GARCIA - MORTICIA ADDAMS Returning for his second production with Staged in Kuwait, Sultan is a filmmaker and actor drawn to stories of fantasy and humor. Previously appearing in The Nightmare Before Christmas in 2009, he is delighted to step in as the head of the Addams household. He hopes you enjoy your visit… the family is dying to meet you. The Addams Family marks Izzy’s eighth production on the SIK stage, and she couldn’t be happier to step back into a principal role as the wonderfully dark and elegant Morticia Addams. When she isn’t on stage, she can usually be found teaching her little ones, working behind the scenes with SIK, or adding yet another theatrical commitment to her calendar. She has loved embracing Morticia’s deliciously dark ways and sharing the stage with this wonderful cast, discovering along the way that, after all, everyone has their secrets… and there’s always something waiting just around the corner. EMAN ALSAYEGH - WEDNESDAY ADDAMS ORLANDO BAYES - PUGSLEY ADDAMS Eman is thrilled to take on the role of Wednesday Addams in her second SIK production. This marks her first lead and acting debut after performing primarily as a singer. She brings her love of music, dance and theatre to this splendidly spooky show, and sincerely hopes you survive dinner with the Addams Family. Orlando is thrilled to be the only child cast member in The Addams Family. He is 11 years old and in Year 7 at TES. No stranger to musical theatre, Orlando has previously played the role of Fat Sam in TES’ recent production of Bugsy Malone, and in his former school in the U.K, he played the eponymous role in Oliver! SIK has taught Orlando so much, he’s loved every minute of rehearsals and the production. The Addams have become a second family. It’s been a scream! YOUSEF ALOBAID - UNCLE FESTER Yousef is excited to be back on stage in his first singing part as Uncle Fester. He is old enough to play an uncle because he is still trying to figure out how TikTok works. On a more grim note, he is delighted to share the stage once again with his talented team to bring this vision to life! Make sure you bring earplugs, because he sings like a Siren!(in order of appearance)P R I N C I P L E SP R I N C I P L E S
ESEN HASDEMIR - GRANDMA ADDAMS YOUSEF ABDELREHIM - LUCUS BEINEKE ZAID AL KAZEMI - MAL BEINEKE After 19 years of teaching in Turkey, Esen moved to Kuwait in 2017, where she continues terrifying her students with deadlines while keeping them entertained in the classroom. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys binge-watching and lovingly tormenting her daughter from 6000 km away because motherhood knows no borders. Now appearing in her 9th production with SIK, Esen is delighted to join the wonderfully strange world of The Addams Family as Grandma. After years of classroom practice, she finally feels fully qualified for the role. Yousef is thrilled to join The Addams Family as Lucas Beineke in his sixth production with Staged in Kuwait, while also contributing to costume design for the production. He loves every part of the theatrical process, from performing to obsessing over tiny costume details no audience member will probably notice. For the next couple of hours, he highly recommends suspending disbelief, embracing the chaos, and giving in to the wonderfully dramatic world of live theatre. Lover of Writing, reading, art, performance and everything in between. Zaid has just started, or more appropriately, restarted his ambitions of performing on stage. Throughout high school and university he could be seen doing several performances including sketch comedy, stand up comedy, the minor role of Messala in the AUK production of Julius Caesar, and his most involved role until now of Pozo in another AUK production of Waiting for Godot. A lifetime of very brief stints of stand up and years of table top rpgs occurred before Zaid finally found Staged in Kuwait and felt it had become a second home for him. After an improv class he gladly threw his hat in the acting ring and can't wait to perform as Mal in this incredible production. *snap snap* CHRISTOPHER HICKSON - LURCH BATY ABDILFATAH - ALICE BEINEKE Christopher is excited to return to the stage as Lurch in The Addams Family, his second production with SIK. His past theatre credits include Opening Up, Songs for a New World, Dreamgirls, Babes in Arms, and Court-Martial at Fort Devens, along with other musical theatre productions throughout his performing journey. With roots in gospel, R&B, soul, and rock music, he also brings experience in African dance and tap. A military veteran and educator, Christopher is proud to reconnect with the art form where he first discovered his passion for performance. Baty is thrilled to be part of the cast of The Addams Family with SIK as Alice Beineke. This marks her debut acting role after years of appearing on stage primarily in singing performances. She is excited to embrace the challenge of portraying such a fiery and multifaceted character, and is looking forward to the opportunity to grow as a performer through this production.

A teacher with a flair for drama, she now joins The Addams Family as a fortune-telling ancestor - proving she truly can predict a hauntingly good time.As TES’s Head of Drama and 11-year SIK veteran, Sophie is thrilled to play the Ancestor-Bride. Wearing this wedding dress beautifully mirrors her own wedding, which was filled with SIK found family. Offstage, she loves fostering community as the co-founder of the Morning Milers running group.Rebecca is thrilled to be back on stage with Staged in Kuwait after appearing in two previous SIK pantomimes. She is now embracing her spooky side as one of the Addams Family Ancestors, proving that even in the afterlife she still loves a costume, a song and a bit of drama. When she is not haunting the stage, Rebecca is usually busy teaching, parenting three children and wondering why rehearsals somehow feel more relaxing than home! After years of choreographing her school’s productions of The Wizard of Oz, Annie, The Lion King, and more, Olivia has returned to the stage… as a groovy nurse ancestor, naturally. This is her first performance with SIK, and she has loved getting to know this wickedly talented cast. Dancing with them has truly been to die for! Tuba creates colour in her life by doing what she loves to do: being on stage. This stage has been her classrooms for the last 30 years. She headed the theatre club for 12 years in her previous workplace. After her relocation to Kuwait she found consolation in the welcoming arms of SIK. She has been on, behind, or in the front of stage since 2017. Apart from many Pantos and Mamma Mia, Addams Family is her second musical where she can sing her lungs out and move the moves, from a scientific perspective of course.

MISHELE DAOUD - PROPS HOD & SET FINISHING This is Mishele’s fourth production with SIK, and her first time stepping into department leadership. With an extensive theatre background working in lighting, sound, stagehanding, stagemanaging, set building, and props, she is excited to once again be involved in bringing a show to life (while trying not to lose her mind, or a wireless signal, in the process). T H E C R E WT H E C R E W ALISA ALSHYMALI - COSTUME HOD This is Alisa’s first venture into costumes, and she’s learned it’s 20% creativity and research, 30% problem-solving, and 50% asking, “Why is this doing that?” She also spent a month working remotely, which was tricky when she couldn’t touch, alter, or stare suspiciously at a costume until it revealed its problems. Thankfully, she had Jenan to rely on! She can’t wait to see characters from different eras come to life, hopefully making the audience say “WOW” instead of “what happened there?” LETICIA CABALLERO - STAGE MANAGER Leticia is a Spanish teacher by day and a professional chaos coordinator by night, making her debut as Stage Manager for The Addams Family. When she’s not teaching Spanish, she’s usually backstage making sure actors, props, costumes, cues, and the occasional theatrical emergency are all exactly where they’re supposed to be. She loves theatre, creativity, and the magical moment when hundreds of tiny details finally come together to create something unforgettable on stage. She may not have the Addams family’s talent for darkness, but she definitely understands the importance of surviving a little beautiful chaos. If everything runs smoothly tonight, she was probably behind the scenes making it happen and if it doesn’t… she was never here. DR. ELIZABETH FOSTER COMNINELLIS - MUSICAL DIRECTOR Liz joined The Addams Family just weeks after discovering she was pregnant, never imagining she’d finish the show with a five-month-old baby and a mini assistant! The cast regularly whisked him away mid-rehearsal, making him the unofficial third Addams child. It’s been an absolute honor making music with this wonderfully talented, kooky team!
JENAN B - COSTUME DESIGN WILLIAM C. LORD - SET BUILDER Even in the aftermath of a drone strike, losing all tools, equipment, and materials Will was able to build a proper home for the Addams Family. Will is living proof that with enough dedication you can make anything out of nothing. He has been building sets for SIK for the last 6 seasons. ZAINAH ALBADER -PROPS TEAM & ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER Zainah is returning to the Props Team and the role of ASM for her fourth production with SIK! Zainah is constantly being ‘pulled’ in the direction of different jobs, whether that’s painting papier-mâché trees or crafting a lizard from scratch, bringing a fix-it attitude to each one! She is so grateful to be a part of The Addams Family. Be reassured, this show is simply to die for! SAJJAD VAYEZI - FRONT OF HOUSE HOD Having previously appeared on stage in several productions in Kuwait, Sajjad is excited to take on a new challenge as Head of Front of House for The Addams Family. This role holds a special place in his heart, as Front of House is where his theatre journey in Kuwait first began. Now, coming full circle, he is delighted to return to where it all started, this time leading the team and helping bring the magic of theatre to life beyond the stage. After inheriting button stitching abilities and swift backstage troubleshooting from her first panto-Snow White, she's back yet again with bigger rolls of fabric and even bigger opinions on dressing this cast to best portray their spookiest selves in the most stunning way. CATHERINE CARTANIAN - TECH TEAMWith experience both on stage and off, Catherine takes to sound once again for her third show with SIK. Musical theatre has always had a special place in Catherine’s life, and she has enjoyed learning more about what goes on behind the scenes with tech for musicals, such as The Addams Family Musical, to create magic on the stage. OLIVIA LEWIS - CHOREO TEAMAfter years of choreographing elementary school and middle/high school productions, The Addams Family gave Olivia the chance to take her choreo skills to a whole new level of weird. From tango, to jazz, to the twist, this show has enough thrill and flair to raise the dead. Choreographing this show has been a killer experience, and she hopes that after watching, the audience will be simply dying to dance along! SULTAN ALKAZMI - MARKETING AND SET TEAMSultan works behind the shadows on Marketing and Set, helping lure audiences into the wonderfully twisted world of The Addams Family. When he’s not cooking up promotional mischief, he can usually be found armed with a paintbrush, turning perfectly innocent set pieces into something far more suitably grim. JACKSON FOSTER COMNINELLIS - ASSISTANT MUSICAL DIRECTOR Goo goo ga ga....
Partially responsible for props and 100% accountable for Pugsley, Joanna has webbed tablecloths, wrangled paint tins and tamed the store cupboard with motherly pride and devotion. She has savoured spending evenings and weekends with the wonderfully inclusive and familial SIK cast and crew. In daylight, Joanna teaches English at TES.MUNEERA ALYASEEN - COSTUME TEAMMuneera’s super excited to be returning for her sixth show at SIK, working in the costumes department. She’s rolled up her sleeves and put years of DIY arts & crafts experience to work to produce costume pieces from scratch and do all the last-second alterations the show needs to have everyone dressed up ready for a dreadful day. TARA WATTS - LIGHTS TEAMTara is excited to join her first production with Staged in Kuwait. She brings her previous experiences working in and passion for theatre and television to help make The Addams Family shine. While working on the spotlight, Tara will make this show a Spooktacular Sensation. YOUSEF ABDELREHIM - COSTUME TEAM ARMITA SHAKERI - MAKEUP & SFX TEAM LIO (LEE) BALUCCI - TECH TEAMYousef is excited to once again be part of the costume team for Staged in Kuwait’s production of The Addams Family. From ancestor sketches to last-minute fixes held together by sheer determination, he loves every chaotic part of bringing characters to life through costume design. He hopes the details onstage feel just as fun, strange, and theatrical as they were to create behind the scenes.Armita is excited to be joining SIK for her first production, The Addams Family. Having studied professional makeup, hair, special effects makeup, and character makeup, she is looking forward to working alongside the costume team to help bring the characters to life through makeup and characterisation, while gaining her first musical theatre experience.Spending over 5 years honing up his craft at his home studio, Lee Decided it was time to step outside of his comfort zones and do something different for a change. His experience in Mixing, mastering, Eq, and rehearsal prep led him to decide that it’s time to do something outside of his band in his time. That’s when he was invited by a friend to check out the work they put in SIK and join in as a sound tech. And from the rehearsal he witnessed he was fascinated by what he saw and found out that now a new passion for him unlocked. Working in theatre. JOANNA BAYES - SET AND PROPS TEAM NASSER ALSHAWAF - SET TEAM REEM ALNASERALLAH - SET AND PROPS TEAM ABDULRAHMAN ALI - LIGHTS TEAM ALSHYMAA TAHA - SET TEAM DALIA AL NASERALLAH - SET AND PROPS TEAMJust a nice guy wanting to help—driven by the joy of it and a desire to showcase my skills in design, carpentry, and repair work. Yet, the group embraced me and treated me like one of their own family; I truly felt a sense of belonging and love.In an attempt to make a pleasant use of her free time. Shymaa volunteered at SIK Academy. She expected to take measurements and assist with finishing work. However, the script had a plot twist! She found herself accomplishing things she never imagined she was capable of (making monsters). Thanks to everyone who placed their trust in her. In this experience, she learned to walk slowly and steadily between the 2 wings of "Taking the risk" and "Doing your best".Dalia had an absolute blast bringing The Addams Family Musical to life! From fiery tangos to grand ensemble numbers, she whipped every routine into drop-dead gorgeous shape. R
When we established Staged in Kuwait in 2012, we set out to continue and develop a community theatre tradition in Kuwait stretching back to 1948. Our ambition remains to create excellent English-language theatre while giving people meaningful opportunities to participate, learn and contribute to the cultural life of the country they call home.Community theatre begins with people coming together to create something they could never achieve alone. At Staged in Kuwait, that happens in rehearsal rooms, backstage workshops and on stage. People of different backgrounds and levels of experience bring their time, skills and imagination to a shared endeavour. They learn from one another, take on new challenges and discover what they can contribute. Making theatre asks us to listen, to see things from another person’s perspective and to take responsibility for our part in a larger whole. Confidence grows through practice. Friendships develop through working together. Belonging comes from knowing that your contribution matters, whether you are delivering a line, making a costume or running the lights. Our commitment to high standards gives that work purpose. We want participants to feel proud of what they achieve and audiences to enjoy imaginative, accomplished theatre at a fair price. Each production brings the wider community into that shared experience, creating opportunities for laughter, discovery and connection. Our fifteenth season brings The Addams Family to the stage. Behind its comedy, music and larger-than-life characters will be months of shared effort by the people who make SIK possible, people like your staff and customers.FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, STAGED IN KUWAIT PRODUCTIONS Tim Waddell WHY COMMUNITY THEATRE MATTERSOFFERING VALUE.
