July 2026The Walshe Group Monthly Newsletter
Hi everyone, HAPPY 250 TO THE USA July 4th was a special one this year, with the US celebrating 250 years and as we all saw boosted by an incredible FIFA tournament (congratulations to Spain!). Fabulous to see so much of the US enjoying positive media coverage again with the culmination being New York City hosting the final. The Brand USA PR team was busy throughout the month, with their own hosted media event celebrating Broadway at a performance of Lion King. Delta of course was very much part of the celebrations.PAGE 2 July was another busy month with plenty of client events, trade activity and travel keeping everyone on the move. Thank you to everyone who sent through photos and updates this month. Please keep them coming!
DELTA & EVENTS Nicole L travelled to Bangkok to represent Delta Air Lines at Flight Centre Travel Group’s Global Gathering, where Delta was a major Tier 2 sponsor. The conference included Delta’s karaoke activation at the lively Flight Fest welcome party, while Nicole also featured in the supplier promotional video, Tuk Tuk Tales, a fun carpool karaoke showcased throughout the conference. It was also great to see Nigel there representing Lufthansa Group and Michael Hall for SAA. Back in Australia, Nicole L continued supporting Delta’s growing network, attending the Flight Centre Collection Victoria Buzz Night to promote the new Melbourne to Los Angeles service, before representing Delta once again at the Travel South USA VIP Consul General Event, strengthening relationships with key tourism partners and industry colleagues.
Meanwhile Yvette co-hosted a table alongside Go Insurance at the SKAL Melbourne Trivia Night and organised a joint trade evening in Adelaide with Club Med. Clint supported Yvette in fare training sessions for Helloworld in Adelaide and took part in the same event for Helloworld in Perth.
ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS Christine Poole represented Tourism Western Australia at a trade dinner hosted at the Sydney Fish Market Seafood School, welcoming 40 key industry partners to learn more about the Margaret River Region and Pair’d Festival. It was another great opportunity to inspire future group travel to Western Australia while strengthening relationships with the trade. With the end of July bringing the welcome news that our contract with TWA is being renewed for another term – well done Christine! Emily Watters represented the Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania team at a Learn & Lunch hosted in partnership with Highgate Hotels Hawaiʻi at Pendolino Restaurant in Sydney. Shauna Nakamura and Jamie Choi travelled from Oʻahu to join the event, with 28 travel advisors attending to hear the latest destination updates together with news from Highgate Hotels Hawaiʻi’s portfolio.
Nicole B, Alvaro and Javad represented The Walshe Group and Oman Air at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit APAC in Adelaide. Bringing together airline executives and aviation leaders from across Asia Pacific, it’s always encouraging to see our team actively involved in conversations that help shape the future of aviation. Meanwhile Sonia and I attended a travel technology conference in Queenstown, a really insightful conference on the challenges and opportunities facing the travel tech sector with both the advent of AI and ease of vibe-coding enabling companies to solve their own tech requirement. Including us! The South African Airways team also marked Mandela Day by hosting a morning tea for the Sydney office in support of the Australian Books for Children of Africa (ABCA). Thank you to everyone who donated and supported the fundraiser. Together, your generosity will help provide books and educational opportunities that create life-changing outcomes for children across 465 schools in 13 African countries.
TEAM NEWS A huge congratulations to Ashleigh and her family on the arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Archer, at the beginning of July. A slightly belated welcome back to Naoko in New Zealand and Harumi in Australia, former employees who have rejoined our Southern Travelnet teams. Southern Travelnet continues to go from strength to strength and is making a huge contribution to our company success. Well done team! COMPANY NEWS Congratulations to ANA team for the award for Perth performance. ANA head office advised they had been awarded for Target Breakthrough Excellence! Based on outperforming route sales targets and point of sale targets. We were happy to hear that Air Niugini has now confirmed their long-awaited online services to New Zealand, starting later in the year. A very exciting development for Steve and team.
As mentioned above, we were thrilled to be reappointed by Tourism Western Australia, with Christine a key reason. We have worked for them for over 4 years now, and Christine reached her 4 year anniversary on 4 July 😊 And in even more exciting news, Lufthansa Group has advised that we are to be their GSA in Malaysia and Brunei effective 1 August, with online services Frankfurt-Kuala Lumpur commencing in November. This sees us expanding into new Asian countries again (remembering our former Singapore and Hong Kong offices) and means we will be adding two new sales team members in Malaysia. Nigel and the team are setting up a revitalised approach as a regional team covering the 4 countries under our mandate, following a really strong performance this year (a little bit of credit to Middle Eastern disruption but this recognition confirms that it wasn’t just that). This appointment is a big win for us in our 50th year.
FINALLY... The next big date on the calendar is our employee gathering in Perth later in August where we can reconnect and celebrate those 50 years of ours with the meeting theme being “Shared Success”. Before then we should hear who has made the finals for the NTIA Awards. Congratulations again to everyone nominated. As always, thank you to everyone for your hard work this month! If you’ve attended an event, travelled for work or have something worth sharing, please send a few photos and a short summary through to Charlotte as you go. It makes pulling Compass Rose together easier and makes sure we don’t miss any key moments. Warmest wishes, Jacqui
