The Devotion Hour is a Nigerian family comedy-drama set in Lagos. It follows the Okafor family: Mama Folake, a strict church woman who carries a measuring tape to check hemlines; her husband Emeka, an Igbo trader who quotes proverbs; and their four adult children. The story opens with Mama Folake's Sunday church inspections and the family's noisy home life.

Chapter 1 introduces the Okafor household. Mama Folake believes in God, good home training and her own opinion. She patrols church looking for fashion crimes. Her husband Emeka is Yoruba from Abeokuta, she is Igbo from Anambra. Their marriage is one long argument with breaks for jollof rice. The children have learned not to tell their mother anything after she screamed at Bukola for failing a course and told Tolani to fast when she was tired of her job.

Chapter 2 follows Ifeoma, the youngest, who sneaks her boyfriend Dayo into her room. Mama Folake's night patrol nearly catches them, but Ife claims she was praying. Meanwhile, Bukola sneaks out to Club Eclipse in Lekki. A woman named Tobi, whom Mama Folake publicly humiliated at church, films Bukola dancing and sends the video to the church WhatsApp group.

Chapter 3 focuses on Chidi, the only son, who has a temper problem. He slapped a waiter named Samson at a restaurant in Ikeja after water was spilled on his shirt. His girlfriend Kemi left him. Chapter 4 covers Friday morning family devotion. Ifeoma vomits and reveals she is pregnant. Mama Folake explodes, then sees the video of Bukola on her phone. Two daughters in one morning.

Chapter 5 follows the family driving across town to find Dayo at a compound called The Rafters. When Ife tells him she is expecting, Dayo denies knowing her. Other Rafters smirk at the back. The story ends with Dayo telling Ife to find the real father, revealing a setup by people who resented her.
