The Floor That Doesn't Exist is a horror and mystery fiction story divided into 6 parts. It follows a girl named Layan who visits her grandmother's abandoned house and discovers an elevator with a button for a fourth floor that should not exist.
The story begins with Layan hearing her grandmother's voice calling from the elevator at night. She finds a photograph on her phone showing the fourth floor and a mysterious woman. Her friend Sarah reveals the woman appeared in family photos before Layan's grandmother was born.
Layan finds a locked box containing a cassette tape with her grandmother's warning never to go to the fourth floor. The recording suddenly changes to Layan's own voice asking to be let in, followed by knocking at the door.
Using a brass key, Layan takes the elevator to the fourth floor. She finds a hallway of family photos showing her before she was born, and a room identical to her bedroom where a girl who looks exactly like her claims to be the real Layan.
The story ends with Sarah finding Layan in the elevator. Layan takes her to the fourth floor, saying they need to make it exist. Sarah's phone later shows the elevator panel now has five buttons, with a message for the next visitor.
