On the 2 October, 2025, I received an email from the Teacher Education, Performance and Development Division. This email required me to register to enroll in the Teacher Induction Programme for the 2025/2026 Cohort. I was nowhere ready to do this, immediately I went to my Vice Principal to see if I could get out of it somewhere or the other. She said in a joyous tone, “Oh it`s you who was selected this year, great candidate”. Forever busy, I wondered what this course was going to do for me, reluctantly I registered with the hope that this course would not commence within the 1 academic term to hamper my teaching. Thankfully, God was on my side and the Programme actually did commence in Term 2 when my Form 5` s were fully prepared for CSEC and I could pursue this course with no guilt of leaving them unattended to. nd st The purpose of this portfolio is to reflect on the paths that I have chosen, provide evidence on the actions that I have taken upon my new learning experiences and seek into new channels of room for improvement in my Teaching Career. This portfolio shall not only show what I have learnt and applied thus far, but will delve into the new strategies and goals that I have planned to implement for the upcoming academic year and the near foreseeable future. I believe that the impact I have on my students is great but as a lifelong learner I have intentions that I will leave behind a legacy that shall never be forgotten. I believe that I play an important role and have a responsibility towards each child that I teach to create a positive learning environment: One in which each child feels both confident and comfortable to express their feelings, emotions, ideas, frustrations, understandings, concerns and voice their true opinions without being judged and to trust that their future is in the right hands. One whereby opportunities are given to make mistakes without fear, emphasizing that it is human to err, we are not perfect and the only expectation is that we learn from our mistakes. It is my role, but also my duty and dedication to not only just teach the subject content, but also to impart resilience, compassion, empathy, courage and integrity to each and every tender soul under my care, enlighten, motivate and nurture them into great personalities, honest and respectable citizens with admirable qualities and characteristics. Importance of Content KnowledgeImportance of Content KnowledgeImportance of Content Knowledge it also influences the changes that I may have to adjust based on the different types of learners that I have to work with for the next academic year. I always thought that the scheme of work is a standardized setting per term, however I learnt that it can also be used to evolve my techniques, to reflect on my personal expertise and it can change from time to time.
