Grounded in the science of reading, participants will explore key literacy components and connect research to practical instructional strategies that can be applied immediately in the classroom. Through collaborative discussions, reflection, and real-world application, participants will deepen their understanding of multilingual learners, identify key instructional and systems-level considerations, and develop actionable next steps to support student success. CORNERSTONE INTEGRATED ELD PRACTICES FOR MULTILINGUAL SUCCESS Designed for novice and developing teachers K-12 teachers, this 4-day series explores practical ways to make language and learning more accessible for multilingual learners through integrated ELD practices. Participants will identify the language demands of instruction, implement high-impact strategies that strengthen academic conversations, vocabulary, and comprehension, and design language-rich lessons that promote engagement and achievement. Participant Outcomes Implement instructional strategies that strengthen academic conversations, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and student discourse. Design language-rich learning experiences that intentionally integrate content learning and language development. Utilize scaffolds and supports aligned to the CA ELD Standards and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to increase access for multilingual learners. Reflect on and refine instructional practices using evidence of student engagement, participation, and language use. Develop and implement an action plan to improve outcomes for multilingual learners within their classroom, team, or school setting.
