SITE AREA - 41627 SQMA A SITE PLAN SECTION- AA GREEN HOUSINGGREEN FACADES, OR VERTICAL GREENERY, ARE ANOTHER IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF GREEN DESIGN BYLAWS. BY COVERING BUILDING EXTERIORS WITH PLANT LIFE, BUILDINGS CAN REGULATE THEIR INTERNAL TEMPERATURES, IMPROVE AIR QUALITY, AND CONTRIBUTE TO BIODIVERSITY IN URBAN AREAS.CROSS VENTILATION IS ANOTHER ESSENTIAL FEATURE ADDRESSED BY THESE BYLAWS. BUILDINGS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ADOPT DESIGNS THAT OPTIMIZE NATURAL AIRFLOW, REDUCING THE RELIANCE ON AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS.THE USE OF GREEN ROOFS IS ALSO MANDATED AS PART OF THESE SUSTAINABILITY-FOCUSED REGULATIONS. THESIS PROJECT SWARAJYA GATHHA- ITEGRATED CULTURAL TOURISM CAMPUS AT MEDAD FORT PROJECT VISION “SWARAJYA GATHA” IS ENVISIONED AS AN IMMERSIVE CULTURAL TOURISM CAMPUS THAT CELEBRATES THE LEGACY OF MARATHA HISTORY THROUGH ARCHITECTURE, STORYTELLING, AND EXPERIENTIAL SPACES. THE PROJECT STUDIES TRADITIONAL MARATHA ARCHITECTURAL FORMS, FORT PLANNING, MATERIALS, WOODEN JOINERIES, WADA TYPOLOGIES, DEFENSIVE PATHWAYS, AND CULTURAL SETTLEMENT PATTERNS, INTEGRATING THEM INTO A CONTEMPORARY DESIGN INTERVENTION. THE CAMPUS IS DESIGNED NOT MERELY AS A PLACE TO OBSERVE HISTORY, BUT AS A SPACE TO LEARN, FEEL, EXPERIENCE, AND PARTICIPATE IN THE CULTURAL ESSENCE OF SWARAJYA MEDAD BHUIKOT FORT, MEDAD, PUNE ,MAHARASHTRA- 413102 DISTANCE FROM PUNE: ~95 KM DISTANCE FROM BARAMATI: ~5 KM PLOT TYPE: PUBLIC OR SEMI-PUBLIC TOTAL AREA- 4.5 ACRES THE DESIGN PROPOSES THE REVITALIZATION OF THE HISTORIC GADHI THROUGH A SENSITIVE CULTURAL TOURISM CAMPUS THAT RESPECTS THE ORIGINAL HERITAGE STRUCTURE. MAJOR FUNCTIONS SUCH AS GALLERIES, IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION SPACES, THEATRE, AND ENCLOSED AMENITIES ARE PLANNED UNDERGROUND TO MAINTAIN THE EXISTING SKYLINE AND OPENNESS OF THE FORT. THE GROUND LEVEL REMAINS LARGELY OPEN WITH COURTYARDS, LANDSCAPE SPACES, PUBLIC PLAZAS, WATER BODIES, AND CIRCULATION AREAS THAT ENHANCE THE HISTORIC CHARACTER OF THE SITE. TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS LIKE GATEWAYS, BASTIONS, AND STONE TATBANDI WALLS ARE REINTERPRETED IN A CONTEMPORARY MANNER USING GRAY BASALT STONE AND EARTHY MATERIALS. BUNGALOW PROJECT-2 This design envisions three individual bungalows integrated into a single architectural envelope, unified through a central courtyard that serves as the heart of the space. While the structure appears as one large traditional bungalow from the outside, it discreetly houses three distinct residential units—each with independent access from the shared courtyard. Inspired by traditional Indian architecture, the courtyard features a Tulsi Vrundavan at its center, reinforcing cultural and spiritual grounding. The courtyard acts as a communal gathering space, enhancing social interaction while maintaining privacy for each family unit. Elements like deep verandahs, sloping roofs, jaali work, and natural materials are reinterpreted in a modern design language, blending timeless aesthetics with contemporary functionality.
