CASA i Classroom Connection 6 to 10 July 2026th th

Hello Parents, This week, we explored the digestive system, particularly the large intestine, including its location and functions. We reviewed and revised what we learned over the past few weeks. Our digestive system starts in our mouth. The chewed food goes down the oesophagus. The oesophagus brings food to our stomach, where it mixes with stomach acids. The nutrients go into our small intestines. Most of the nutrients from our food are absorbed in the jejunum. The leftovers move to the large intestine. We watched the presentation and learned that the large intestine (colon) is a 5-foot-long tube that carries the leftover waste from what we eat. The long, tube-like organ connects to the small intestine at one end and the anus at the other. It has four main parts: the cecum, colon, rectum, and canal. Partly digested food moves through the cecum into the colon, where water and some nutrients are removed. The large intestine absorbs water and salts from the remaining digested food, turning liquid waste into solid. To support our learning, we had a 3D play dough digestive system activity, where the children were given play dough to make. We read the story book-Everyone poops and sang the Digestive System song.
