When you think of Caprice, you almost certainly think model, beautiful, right? And you’d be right — she is beautiful — but she’s much, much more than a model. She shot to fame in the '90s after a chance encounter with a talent scout. Modeling wasn’t something she had ever considered, and the glamour of it didn’t really appeal to her. “It was the financial freedom that attracted me,” she told us. “I actually thought I would be Governor of California,” she laughed when I asked what young Caprice wanted to be. Modeling couldn’t have been further from that dream. But after a last-minute opportunity to present an award at the National TV Awards — in a risqué gown, no less — the rest became history. Caprice went on to become one of the most photographed women in the world, appearing on the cover of nearly every magazine — and now, ours too. “At one point, I was on a cover every month,” she said. Realizing she had real influence, she knew she needed to do more with it. That’s when she approached Debenhams to broker a licensing deal. This sort of branding wasn’t common at the time. I asked what sparked the idea. “Well, my name was my brand at this point, and they were selling things anyway, so I figured it would be a win-win,” she explained. With some persuasion, Debenhams gave it a shot — and it was hugely successful. You could argue it helped set the stage for the booming celebrity- brand partnerships we see today. Caprice’s business ventures expanded into bedding ranges, lingerie, and more. She later tried to manufacture on her own but eventually returned to licensing, realizing it was a better fit. You might think that after everything she’s accomplished, Caprice would be ready to slow down — but no. She’s recently embarked on an exciting new path: filmmaking. Finally Doing What I Love Caprice “8 The Female Boss

The Female Boss 9

10 The Female Boss Always thinking ahead, Caprice knew her modeling career wouldn't last forever. She invested her earnings wisely, building a thriving property portfolio along the way. We also spoke about her time on reality TV — The Jump being a standout. “It was while filming The Jump that I found out I had a brain tumor,” she told me. I was in awe as she recounted it with such calm and gratitude. Thankfully, the tumor was successfully removed. Now, she’s an ambassador for Brain Tumor Research, giving not only her time but also her own money. One of her most vulnerable and proud moments was performing in the West End. “It was an incredible feeling of vulnerability,” she said. She loved the live experience and cherished scripts like The Vagina Monologues. You might think that after everything she’s accomplished, Caprice would be ready to slow down — but no. She’s recently embarked on an exciting new path: filmmaking. Talking about this next chapter, her eyes lit up. “At 50, I decided — just go for it,” she said. It had always been a dream, but she had hesitated, unsure how she'd be received. I, for one, am glad she did. Our conversation took place just as she was wrapping up A Royal Romance in Ibiza — a film where a no-nonsense American developer lands in Ibiza to build a luxury wellness resort. Sparks fly with a charming but reluctant prince assigned to help, until family duty, island secrets, and an ex with a grudge threaten to tear apart their fairy-tale future. Caprice both produces and stars in all her films — and loves it. “No one told me how long this stuff takes!” she laughed. Filming is actually the shortest part; it’s the pre- and post-production that require the most time. While work continues on A Royal Romance in Ibiza, her next film is already on its way. A Scottish Christmas Secret, starring Caprice and Patsy Kensit, is coming soon on Channel 5. It follows a workaholic publisher who poses as a tourist to coax her bestselling author into finishing his abandoned series — but finds herself falling for him while unraveling a decades-old family mystery, risking everything when her growing feelings clash with her original deception.

Amy Gwynn: Rude Sitting down with Amy Gwynn in the iconic changing rooms of Rude Liverpool, her warmth and openness were immediately evident. She’s as candid in conversation as she is fearless in business—a true pocket rocket powerhouse. At 16, like many teenagers, Amy wasn’t sure what she wanted to do. Her family, especially her father, encouraged her to pursue a stable career she could always rely on. This led her to train as an accountant, enrolling in an AAT course. During her studies, she was placed in the Jacobs factory for work experience. It was there that she discovered her knack for numbers and processes. Determined to stand out, she worked hard, and her efforts paid off—she was one of the few who were offered a permanent position. A few years later, Amy met her now-husband, a DJ. At 21, she became pregnant with their first child. We were quite different. I’d come home and settle in for the night, and he’d be heading out to gigs— sometimes even abroad," she recalls. Feeling isolated at home with a baby, Amy was open to new ideas. When her husband suggested opening a wine bar as the Scouse house scene was slowing down, she agreed without hesitation. That idea soon evolved. After discussions with acquaintances, the concept of a lap dancing bar emerged. "Maybe it was my hormones, but again, I just said yes," Amy says with a laugh. They found a venue in Liverpool and invested every penny they had saved—money originally intended for a house deposit. It was a huge risk, especially considering Amy had never even set foot in a lap dancing bar. Amy took on the responsibility of recruiting dancers. "I brought my best mate with me to the interviews—I had no idea what I was looking for," she admits. One vivid memory stands out: "A girl came in and stripped off to a Jason Derulo song. I was stunned, but I pushed through and hired everyone I saw that day." At just 22, Amy struggled to earn respect from the older, more experienced dancers. It was tough, and at times she felt bullied and considered walking away. But she persevered, balancing long shifts with caring for a small child. She began to see the club's potential. At first, Amy kept her new venture private, only confiding in close family. "I felt a little ashamed telling the school mums I owned a strip club," she confesses. I only want the best girls at Rude, so I give them the best environment. Everyone is on equal footing—it feels like a family

The Female Boss 17 Just as Rude began to gain traction, the building’s landlord announced plans to convert it into apartments. Devastated but determined, the couple sought a new opportunity. They found it in the form of the historic Society Club building, where Amy had once celebrated her 18th birthday. The asking price was steep—a six- figure sum—but Rude was gaining momentum. Amy wasn’t ready to quit. "My accountant sat me down and said, 'You do know what you're doing here, right?'" she remembers. It was a massive decision. To make it happen, they put up their family home as collateral. But it paid off. The new Rude was born—a stunning venue featuring a sweeping staircase, VIP lounges, iconic changing rooms, and even a pole fitness studio. Amy transformed the space piece by piece. Her resourcefulness truly shone during the pandemic. While most venues shut down, Rude remained open under strict safety protocols, one of the few clubs in operation. Today, Rude offers a range of unique experiences, including the extravagant "Naked Experience" where clients can enjoy champagne and company for an hour at £2,500. Amy designed all the packages on instinct alone. Strict rules ensure the safety and well-being of the dancers. "I only want the best girls at Rude, so I give them the best environment. Everyone is on equal footing—it feels like a family," she says. But Amy didn’t stop there. She now owns two more strip clubs: Pussycats and Erotica. Her growing portfolio also includes Jeloux—touted as the prettiest bar in Liverpool—as well as 54 and GBar. As the only female strip club owner in the UK, Amy has faced her share of criticism. "Most of the negative comments come from men. Women are supporters. They respect that I’m here to make positive changes in the industry." Amy’s words of wisdom for anyone following their dreams – Care less what others think. Despite all she’s achieved, Amy is far from finished. With ambitious plans still unfolding, one thing is certain: you may be seeing a Rude near you very soon.

You know those nights where you leave buzzing with energy, heart full, brain whirring, and thinking “Yes – this is what women need”? Well, that was exactly what happened at the first ever Women Unfiltered Event: The Vagina Dialogues. It started with a room full of women (sorry – girls – because as our glorious MC Pam reminded us, growing up is overrated and we should never stop having fun). And the laughter proved that we did we have fun. This wasn’t your typical women’s health talk. No awkward silences, no medical mumbo-jumbo, and definitely no shame. Just open, honest, hilarious, and sometimes emotional conversations about vaginas, vulvas, pelvic floors, pleasure, ageing, healing, and everything in between. No filter. No fanny-ing about (yep, of course I went there). Real women talking real life over some sandwiches and chips- Girl' have gota eat! Who’s Who in the Vagina Golf room? – We held the event in the non typical female space. A golf club, Why? Because you know us we avoid the expected female spaces! We want to expand and educate all. We had the incredible Lindsey talking all things V- hydrate explaining how it supports vaginal hydration (spoiler alert: dry isn’t just a internal problem, it’s more common than you think to be itchy and dry in the knickers to!) for more information on this head to V-Hydrate Serum – Veda Woman And then Gemma (that’s me – your friendly neighbourhood Vagician ) dived into how the body can actually heal itself when we start encouraging collagen to grow again (honestly, it’s like magic – except it's science).- Demonstrated with Balloons and compares to skittles! – if you know you know…. If you don’t Ask! No filter, no shame, just real talk Pam held the whole thing together like the fabulous queen she is, keeping us giggling while sneakily dropping truth bombs about being a woman in a world that tells us to be quiet and cross our legs. Not anymore, love. Did she tell you the one about…. The Power of Just Talking What happened in that room was something special. We shared stories. We asked questions we’d never dared ask. We laughed. We nodded in agreement. There may have even been some secret laughter tears and tears of relief….. We learned from each other and we have to mention the chips, when they get a better review than the hostess you know they are good! The best part? Everyone left feeling empowered. And demanding more. “Sex next, please!” was the top request (yes, we heard you – it’s coming!- yep, went there again!) There was even talk of a book club. Honestly? If that’s what they want, that’s what we’ll do. The Vagina Dialogues 22 The Female Boss

And big love to Lisa from Sew In Love, who brought along her fabulous Pussy Power goodies and a cracking collection of books that has now officially extended my reading list by about 3 miles. Supportive, creative, and totally in the spirit of the night. And to Avarae’s Creative Creation’s, who brought the luxury feel with the Women Unfiltered “merch”. Looking forward to seeing this little lady and where she is going in her business ventures! What About the Men? Now here’s the plot twist we didn’t see coming – a few male golfers from next door came over after the event to ask questions. Not in a creepy way – in a curious, supportive, “how can I help the women in my life” kind of way. And THAT’S how we know we’re onto something. So yes – don’t panic, lads. The Men-Aplause Chats are coming. Me and the fabulous Joel are working on something to help men understand, support, and stop saying “Well, I don’t have a vagina so it’s not my problem.” (Spoiler: it is your problem – if you love, live with, or work with someone who has one.) So, What’s Next? Well, the sequel for the Women Unfiltered is booked for September, and if the ticket sales and messages in my inbox are anything to go by, it’s going to be packed. We’re even getting requests from women further afield who want to join. And I say HELL YES! This is just the beginning of a beautiful, honest, supportive, fun community. A safe space for real talk, real education, and real connection. But the big question is – how do we keep up with the demand? Virtual access? Tour the UK? Community hubs in other towns? Maybe all of it. Watch this space. What happened in that room was something special. Let’s Keep the Conversation Going If you were there – thank you. You made it what it was. If you missed it – don’t worry, September’s your chance. And if you’re sitting there thinking “I need this in my life” – message me. Because we’re not going quiet again. If you have met me, you know quiet is not really in my vocabulary. Shout and (over)share is more my way. I am ME! Stay tuned for future blogs, where I’ll introduce our adventure with the wonderful Joel – helping men show up better for the women in their lives. It’s time. With love, Gemma the Vagician RejuvaLux | Women Unfiltered The Female Boss 23

That’s what my manager said to me after a major presentation to board-level executives in 2015. I still remember standing in that glass-walled room, surrounded by polished suits and sharp questions. The only woman. The only South Asian. The only one silently wondering if she’d somehow slipped into the wrong meeting. And yet — I had earned that seat. I had worked hard to get there. Long hours. Relentless preparation. Ticking every box, twice. But in that moment? Logic packed its bags, and imposter syndrome took the wheel. What I didn’t know then — but know now — is that confidence doesn’t come from over-preparing. It comes from inner safety. You can be the most competent person in the room, and still have your nervous system whisper, “What if they see through you?” It’s not a flaw. It’s a pattern. One that too many high-achieving women know intimately. For years, I thought the answer was to do more: Know the material better than anyone else Double-check every data point Anticipate every question Keep my tone neutral so I wouldn’t come off as ‘too much’ What I didn’t realise was that I was trying to protect myself. Not from the room. But from the old internal stories that got triggered in the room. Stories like “don’t mess this up,” “they’ll think you don’t belong,” or “you have to prove your worth — again.” And here’s the truth: You can’t outwork your way out of a dysregulated nervous system. These days, I work with women who know their stuff. They’ve led teams. Built businesses. Navigated complex politics. Some are rising in boardrooms. Others are leaving them to build their own. But when they step into high-stakes spaces — client calls, pitches, panels — they feel that same internal flicker: Their voice shakes. Their mind blanks. You need to breathe 24 The Female Boss

They second-guess what they just said — and replay it 10 times after the meeting ends. And almost every single one says some version of: “I don’t know why this still happens.” Here’s what I share with them: 1. Inner safety comes before outer presence. You don’t need to “project more confidence.” You need to feel grounded in your body first. Because confidence isn’t a performance. It’s a state your nervous system accesses when it feels safe. And if you’ve been conditioned to tone yourself down, question your instincts, or avoid being seen as difficult — your system won’t feel safe in those moments until you teach it how to. 2. Regulation is a skill — not a personality trait. You’re not “bad under pressure.” You’ve just never been taught how to stay regulated while being visible, challenged, or stretched. It’s a muscle. And like any muscle, it builds with practice. 3. Your body holds the wisdom. Instead of trying to talk yourself out of nerves, start listening to what your body’s actually trying to say. Do your shoulders creep up when you’re trying to “sound credible”? Does your voice go faster when you’re scared of being interrupted? These aren’t random habits. They’re protective strategies — and once you notice them, you can start rewiring them. A few things you can try this week: The 4-6 Breath: Before a big meeting or conversation, breathe in for 4 counts, and out for 6. Do 3 rounds. This signals to your nervous system: “We’re safe. You’ve got this.” Body Check-In: While you’re speaking, do a subtle body scan. Are your hands clenched? Are your shoulders tight? Loosening even slightly creates more room for calm authority. Post-Room Reflection (without self-criticism): Ask yourself: • Where did I feel most ‘me’ in that room? •Where did I shrink or explain myself too much? • What would I do differently next time — without judgement? Because the goal isn’t perfection. It’s self-awareness. That’s what builds presence. The version of me in that boardroom? She was capable. She was prepared. She just didn’t feel safe enough to let herself be those things in the moment. But she was never the problem. And neither are you. If any of this lands — know this: You’re not broken. You’re not “too sensitive.” And you don’t need to become louder, tougher, or less “you” to lead powerfully. You just need the right tools to feel safe in your skin — so your voice can rise from power, not pressure. If this sparked something for you and you’re curious to explore further — I’ve created a few free tools that go deeper into confidence, visibility and nervous system safety. You’ll find meditations, downloads, and eBooks — all designed to support ambitious women who want to lead from the inside out, whether they’re climbing the ladder or carving their own path beyond it. NOT FOR SARAH BONE TECH: A MALE INDUSTRY? An interview with Sarah Bone – CEO of YEO Messaging

Sarah Bone, Co-Founder and CMO of YEO Messaging, is breaking barriers in one of the world’s most male-dominated industries—technology. An Englishwoman raised in America and now living in Lisbon, Sarah’s story is as international as it is inspiring. She attended primary school in both the UK and California, high school in Switzerland, and even studied in Paris. Yet despite her diverse education, one thing remained clear: she aspired to lead and to create. After completing her studies, Sarah stepped into the world of advertising, joining the agency Iris Worldwide and then Sunshine. Her time at Iris provided formative big lessons—particularly in storytelling—while working on global brands like Shell, Ferrari and Samsung. Driven by creativity and confidence, Sarah eventually launched her own boutique agency, a venture she both enjoyed and succeeded in. But a conversation with her father eight years ago changed the course of her journey. …My dad always worked in tech—Silicon Valley,” she recalls. He shared an idea related to cybersecurity, and something clicked. The spark that would become YEO Messaging was born. YEO (Your Eye Only) was created to redefine digital security. What is YEO Messaging? YEO Messaging is a British company specialising in secure communication solutions for businesses. Their flagship platform, YEO for Business, offers end-to-end encryption enhanced by continuous facial authentication and geofencing—security features that go far beyond popular apps like WhatsApp or Signal. While those apps rely on one-time encryption keys, YEO keeps verifying the recipient’s identity throughout the session—ensuring it’s the right person reading the message, from the right location. For example, messages can be restricted to remain within the White House, a hospital department, or any defined space—adding an extra layer of protection for regulated industries like healthcare, finance, or government. A Woman in Tech Despite her role, Sarah still faces outdated assumptions. …Even in 2025, some men assume I’m the secretary,” she says. But with determination—and a dose of humour—she continues to lead. …Having kids has made me thicker-skinned,” she adds with a smile. Building YEO wasn’t cheap. Initial funding came from family, followed by a successful Seed round. Navigating the tech world hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s a journey Sarah is passionate about. When asked what advice she’d give to women entering the business world, she replied simply: …Listen to your gut.” Wise words—and a reminder that intuition might just be one of our superpowers. “…My dad always worked in tech— Silicon Valley,” she recalls. He shared an idea related to cybersecurity, and something clicked. The spark that would become YEO Messaging was born. The Female Boss 27

Founder of Tribal Pets - experts in highly nutritious dog food that use minimally processed, fresh, natural ingredients. You’ve built an entire pet food brand from scratch – but it really did all begin at home, didn’t it Absolutely. It is very common for female led businesses to start off at the kitchen table - in my case, it was quite literally at the stove. I was cooking up experimental batches of dog food, trying to solve a problem I’d stumbled across as a dog owner myself. One day I turned over a packet of dog treats and realised, even with a chemistry degree from Oxford, I didn’t recognise a single ingredient. That was my lightbulb moment. I thought, if I don’t feel confident feeding this to my dog, who will? It just didn't sit right with me and that is when I started making my own nutritious dog treats. And that personal problem eventually became Tribal Pet Foods? Yes – At the time though I didn't even think it could turn out to be a business let alone now served over 20 million meals! At first, it was just for my dog Alpha. I wanted to feed him in a way that felt natural, nourishing and science-backed. I started using ingredients I knew and trusted – things you’d recognise from your own kitchen – and applying proper nutritional balance. Then friends started asking about them, and I started bringing samples to local markets as interest grew - it was just in handmade packaging at first..and slowly it grew from there. In 2017, we launched our Fresh Pressed™ range – the UK’s first cold-pressed dog food made with fresh meat. I found a gap in the market and it felt like the start of something special. What were some of the biggest challenges in those early days? Oh, where to begin! I was new to the industry, and pitching a product most people hadn’t heard of. Cold pressing was barely known in the UK pet food space. There was a lot of education to do around the concept - to customers and the trade in general - but I was up for the challenge. On top of that, I was self-funded, working from home, and trying to learn the ropes - everything from manufacturing to marketing. Fatima Maktari An interview with… 28

It’s a steep learning curve when you’re starting a product business - especially with lots of rules and regulations to abide by. As a growing business cash flow is also key - not just for survival but for growth and getting that right formula is challenging to any business, particularly when in a major growth phase. And yet you chose to sell exclusively through independent retailers – why? Independent retailers are the experts. From the beginning, I wanted Tribal to be rooted in education and trust. Specialist pet retailers take the time to understand the science behind what they sell – and they’re often the first port of call for people looking to feed their pets better. Going through independents meant we could stay closer to our community, and really support them in what they do best. What are your future plans for Tribal? I can't say too much at the moment but at a recent trade show we debuted a brand new product category - it was very well received! We took our time and didn't rush into it. We will be rolling out our launch plans soon - watch this space as they say! How do you juggle running a fast-growing brand with raising two young children? With patience, humour, and a lot of lists! It’s never seamless – especially in the summer holidays, when school’s out and routines go out the window. But in all honesty - when we are in the normal routine, I go into my working day knowing I have a 'window' and I am very focused on what tasks I need to do. It works really well for me - a lot of fellow mum entrepreneurs say the same thing and we find we are far more productive and in fact procrastinate less. After the children are settled in the evening it is a chance for my husband and myself to then catch up on any emails that need attention before the next working day. What’s one piece of advice you’d give other women starting product-based businesses? Don’t wait for the stars to align. If you see a problem that needs solving – and you believe in your solution – start small and build from there. You don’t need a flashy launch or perfect branding to begin. You need determination, integrity, and a willingness to learn as you go - and keep going. You may get knocked down a thousand times but the ones who get back up are the ones who ultimately see the success they dream of. www.tribalpets.com Don’t wait for the stars to align. 30 The Female Boss When it comes to making your next career move, you can’t afford to overlook LinkedIn Not just an online C.V., LinkedIn is a dynamic networking hub, personal branding platform, and job search engine rolled into one. Firstly, a word about that “Open To Work” feature. Many recruiters have a LinkedIn software package that picks this up in the background. So, if you have it switched on, your current employer won’t to know you’re job seeking, unless you add that green “open to work” frame to your profile picture. Some say it makes you look desperate, others think it’s helpful. Your choice. TIPS FIRST impressions LAST Recruiters spend less than 10 seconds scanning a profile - make those seconds count. Banner: Use it to make a clear statement about the value you bring to an organisation. Headline: Go beyond your job title. Use words describing what value you bring to a company. Photo: Use a high-quality, head and shoulders shot and look approachable but professional. Nothing shrieks “I’m slipshod and don’t care about detail” as fast as a fuzzy clip from the last wedding you rocked up at. About Section: Don’t say “An experienced (job title) with a demonstrated history of (role). YAWN! Be different. Show you’ve thought about your ideal employer and that you understand what they want from you and demonstrate how you will fulfil that. Invite them to contact you if they’d like to chat further about how you can help their aims. Include a great reference. Add your contact details. Featured Section: Highlight an award, professional certificate, or written recommendation. Experience: Include great results you achieved for previous employers. Link your jobs to the company page for each one – that brings their logo onto your profile which looks professional. Recommendations: AKA references! Ask past employers, mentors or people who have worked FOR you. Choose “ask for a recommendation” on their profile. By Pam Case Land your next role with LinkedIn

The Female Boss 31 Other Sections: Skills, Certificates, Publications, Patents, Courses, etc. People are drawn to people who are ‘givers’ so add any voluntary work. Grow Your Network Your next opportunity could come from a second or third-degree connection. It’s worth accepting connection requests that come in – you never know who they will bring into your network. Stay Visible Being active and visible on LinkedIn increases the chances that a recruiter or a hiring manager stumbles upon your profile. • Comment meaningfully on posts by your ideal employers. • Write posts showcasing your expertise, industry news, or professional insights. • Join niche industry groups and comment on the posts your ideal employers put in there. Use the Job Board Strategically Set job alerts with specific keywords and locations. Pay attention to “People also viewed” jobs for similar roles you might’ve missed. Some roles show who posted the job, consider reaching out directly to express interest. Tap the unadvertised job market Check news sites for companies who announce that they’ve received a cash injection, or that they are expanding, growing, or relocating to your area. Make a number of contacts within a company you are interested in working for – because they will bring the key people to within your network. When sending a DM to the key person, introduce yourself professionally and succinctly then move to the reason for your message. You don’t have to attach your CV at this point – they can see your LinkedIn profile. Say something like this (NOT ‘do you have any openings’ or similar – which is closed-ended) “Hi xxxx, thank you for connecting, it’s good to have you as part of my network. The reason I wanted to connect is that, as a (insert job title) in my current company I (mention your biggest win for the company). I’m now looking for a new challenge and, I’ve been learning a bit about your company so I was wondering if this is the sort of skill you look for in your (mention job title again)”. If they don’t respond – you can follow up with something like… “Hi xxxx, looks like you may not have been the right person for me to ask – could you please tell me the name of the person who makes the hiring decisions, I would love to send my details to them”. If you get the right details – ask “Can I mention your name please?” which gives you a great starting point for your first written or telephone communication with the right person. If the response is simply “Send me your CV” then say “Of course, thank you. I’d just like to be sure my experience and qualifications are right for you first. What would be a best fit for this position?” You may then get the opportunity to tailor your CV and covering email ask if you can go in for a brief meeting or interview. If you have written an interesting and informative post, or if you find something on the internet that may be of great interest to the prospective employer – why not DM a link? It’s relationship building. FINAL THOUGHTS Treat LinkedIn as an ongoing investment, not a one-time update. With a little intention and consistency, it can become your most powerful career asset.

An interview with Paige Mengers, founder of Phoenix Style Designer Clothing From PR to Pre Loved 32 The Female Boss

Paige Mengers started her career in PR, she worked as head of Ann Summers and Knickerbox whilst she was employed by an agency. When she decided to go it alone she was doing equally as well until a decision to merge with another agency went horribly wrong. It was then that she exited the PR world. Having her 3 children and moving to a different part of the country she was left with a decision to make – after running a successful PR Agency, Bright Light PR for over a decade she found herself drawn to something more personal, something rooted in community and with purpose. She opted for the latter and changed direction – she had always loved fashion “why not do something with this” she told herself. So in 2017 she came across Pheonix Style, one of Surreys original second hand luxury consignment boutiques. It was a leap, not just in business but in mindset. She jumped at the chance. This opportunity also ticked her passion for sustainability box. It started out as a small shop buying and selling pre loved designer items. Now she has 2 shops and an online store and the business is thriving. It has not been plain sailing for Paige and her team, there was a recent robbery. It was broad daylight and 2 men decided it was ok to walk in and take what they wanted – to the tune of about 15k. “this was hard for the staff “ says Paige who values her team immensely. The awful thing about this type of incident is that insurance companies are not keen to pay out, they stated that there was no force or threat on entry or exit. “ basically we need to have something smashed or be hurt before they pay out” Paige explains. Paige jumped into action after this incident and put her PR head on and caused a stir in the local and national media media, talking to Sir Mark Rowley and Nick Farrari on LBC which led to the thieves being caught. “I love giving women the chance to own a beautiful piece at a fraction of the price” says Paige, and all items are carefully looked after and sold in immaculate condition. Pheonix Style do live Instagram drops every Thursday at 1pm where they showcase items for you to buy. When I asked Paige what was nest for her, she told “The next chapter is focused on strategic expansion into key suburban locations, while continuing to advocate for safer high streets creating environments where independent retailers can grow confidently, without the constant threat of retail crime.” me plans for more stores, a campaign to get landlords to make having a high street show more accessible and even more luxury items. What a Female Boss – not letting the robbery and insurance debacle stop her! Give them a follow on @phoenixstyle - maybe you will find yourself a treat ! The Female Boss 33

From kitchen table to one of the UK’s fastest-growing online retailers AMY KNIGHT MUST HAVE IDEAS From kitchen table to one of the UK’s fastest-growing online retailers

At 26, Amy Knight was like many others her age— armed with a law degree and working a standard 9–5 job. But everything changed during a holiday in 2017 when a chance encounter with an ordinary sponge sparked an extraordinary idea. That spark led Amy, her husband Rob, and their friend Chris to brainstorm what would soon become a booming business: Must Have Ideas. Launched in 2018 with just four products and a £3,000 investment (£1,000 each), the company quite literally began at their kitchen table. Within three months, their home transformed into a warehouse. Days and nights were spent packing and posting orders, often with friends helping out. That’s when they knew they were on to something bigger than they ever imagined. Their first major move was into a small business unit, marking a pivotal step in their growth. Amy, diving into the male-dominated world of e- commerce, found the challenge exhilarating—and she thrived. They expanded their product range while staying true to one core principle: "What we sell must be problem-solving," says Amy. A quick scroll through www.musthaveideas.co.uk reveals a treasure trove of clever, practical products you didn’t even know you needed. Fast forward to 2025: Must Have Ideas is turning over more than £65 million a year. Amy has had many standout moments on this journey, but a few highlights include: - Making the Forbes 30 Under 30 list at just 28 - Moving into their latest 60,000 sq. ft. headquarters — “That’s when I knew we had built something big.” There are too many "wow" moments to list, but what’s most striking is Amy’s continued passion for the business and its 200+ employees. Culture is everything at Must Have Ideas. From free breakfasts and monthly car washes to paying the real living wage and genuinely knowing team members by name, it's clear the company values its people. “I’m proud of what we’ve built and how we look after our staff,” Amy says. And they’re not slowing down. With experience gained from working with QVC, the team has launched their own shopping channel, built out a strong management team, and honed a winning marketing strategy. All this while Amy balances being a mum—a challenge, yes, but one she wouldn’t trade. Customers also enjoy standout service: a 100-day money-back guarantee, a UK-based support team, and free delivery if your order doesn’t arrive in two days. With hundreds of practical, problem-solving products to choose from, now’s the perfect time to visit: www.musthaveideas.co.uk Trust us—you’ll discover a game-changing product you didn’t know you needed. 40 The Female Boss For the first time, the festival was organised by four brilliant women: Lisa Williams, Tracy Cawthray, Sara Hughes, and Anne-Marie Jones. They took the reins after the original founder decided it was time to pass on the torch. Lisa’s journey with Womanifest has come full circle—she began as an attendee at the very first event held at The Hilton, later became a speaker, and now helps lead the entire operation. What an incredible evolution! As always, the event was packed with things to see and do. There was a shopping village, main stage, workshops, experience zone, transformation zone, spa & pamper zone, and a special Teen Tent. The Teen Tent is a brilliant initiative that encourages young women to connect, build confidence, and enjoy time away from screens. Sara, who runs the Teen Tent, said: "For 2026, we just want to keep inspiring the teens." Speakers covered a wide range of topics—from the art of speaking, owning your confidence, and networking, to overcoming imposter syndrome and even TikTok strategies. There truly was something for everyone. Workshops spanned multiple categories including wellbeing, spirituality, lifestyle, business, and career development—making the weekend not just fun, but transformational. Saturday evening wrapped up with a massive silent disco, where women danced like nobody was watching. It was joyful, freeing, and unforgettable. The festival closed on Sunday with a powerful fire- walking finale. This year’s chosen charity, Her Place, was the focus of the event’s fundraising efforts. A total of 55 women walked the flames, raising over £800. Tickets for 2026 are already on sale—don’t miss out! Womanifest, if you didn’t already know, is a unique festival for women and teens that first launched in 2020. Its mission? To inspire, empower, educate, and liberate. This year's event took place on the 5th and 6th of July

42 The Female Boss How an intuitive business coach is helping women build their businesses with purpose and power Danielle Hobson made a splash as a speaker at this year’s Womanifest event—and left quite an impression. As an intuitive business coach, Danielle shared her insights on building a business your way! Although this was not her first time speaking, she has graced many a stage before, she really made an impact on the women at this event. Danielle is no stranger to transformation. She began her career on a completely different path, yet always felt she was meant for more. Born in a small village in Doncaster, Danielle was expected to follow the traditional route—school, college, then a conventional job. But she had other plans. “I didn’t want to live life on anyone else’s terms but my own,” she reflects. She spent five years working with Forever Living, which she enjoyed, but her deeper calling soon emerged. While she did love this role she decided to change paths and gained her ILM Level 5 qualification as a coach—and everything changed. Today, Danielle helps others design a life and business on their own terms. Her impact is growing: she’s set to deliver a TED Talk later this year. At Womanifest, a crowd of women gathered as she spoke passionately how build your business your way—and do it unapologetically. Danielle has ways you can work with her that start from as little as £33 a month, providing grounded, honest guidance for women who are ready to elevate their business and their mindset. The Female Boss 43 What keeps you focused? Women who are suffering in silence. Some women have spent years, sometimes decades, putting up with dryness, discomfort, and ‘normal’ leaks. Some dismiss this as part of getting older, when they asked for help. Some have given up hope completely. I know they don’t have to suffer, there’s a solution, and I just want everyone to know, you don’t have to live like this anymore. What would you be doing if you weren’t running your own business? I can’t imagine doing anything else now, I’d probably be out there shouting about it in some other way, because women need to know they don’t have to put up with these issues. They don’t have to feel broken, they can be empowered without surgery and 100 per cent naturally. Yes, you read that right! What’s the best compliment a client has ever paid you? ‘You’ve given me my life back.’ – (55yrs) ‘I didn’t realise how much this was affecting me until it wasn’t anymore.’ – (43yrs) ‘Thank you for giving me my wife back.’ – (38yrs). ‘I can get out of a chair without peeing.’ – (74yrs) ‘I’m 29, and I thought my sex life was over after childbirth. It’s not.’ What do you love about your job? The transformations. Not just the physical results, but also the confidence, the relief, the joy. I’m privileged to give women a voice, a solution, and their confidence back. What’s not to love? What makes your business stand out? Probably me. Talking about vaginal health can feel awkward. But it really shouldn’t. I make those conversations easy, with straight-up facts, clear explanations, and a bit of humour to lighten the mood. Everything is about you. The body does the healing, I just help you understand, give you the confidence to take that step, and make sure you feel comfortable along the way, keeping things real, no false promises, just honest advice and real results. If treatment is not right for you, I’ll tell you. It’s not about selling, it’s about making sure you get what’s best for you. Which of your products would you recommend? Vaginal rejuvenation is an absolute game-changer if you struggle with sensation, dryness, or bladder leaks. If you or someone you know is putting up with discomfort, confidence issues, or worrying about a little sneeze-induced leak, let’s chat – no pressure, no awkwardness, just real advice from someone who gets it and results that really are live changing. But the best treatment is always the one that’s right for you, whether that’s at RejuvaLux or a referral to another practitioner better suited to you. info@rejuvalux.co.uk Gemma LuxtonThe founder of RejuvaLux, Gemma is passionate about helping other women live their life to the fullest without discomfort What keeps you focused? 44 The Female Boss You know that feeling when you walk into a gorgeous hotel room and there’s a chilled glass waiting for you? Or when your favourite brand sends you a handwritten note with your order, just because? The pillow menu. The perfectly folded robe. The personal invite to an exclusive launch. It’s not just service. It’s intention. It makes you feel seen and valued. This is smart business and it’s exactly how you should approach investing in Buy to Let, by becoming the CEO of your rental. Because when something makes you feel that good, what do you do? You come back. You tell your friends. You rave about it on Instagram. You become a loyal client without them needing to lift another finger. That, right there, is the magic. It’s made you feel special, and as a result they’ve made a sale, on repeat. It’s a win, win! You feel good, they feel good. So, what do all these businesses have in common? They focus on the foundations and the experience. Lead with Strategy, Heart and Higher Standards' Be the CEO of your Rental They’ve got a great product. One they’ve refined, elevated, obsessed over. Something that solves a problem, fulfils a desire, or simply makes someone’s life better. They’re deeply customer-focused. They don’t just shove something out and hope it lands. They know their people, their audience. They’ve studied them, listened to their pain points, their dreams, their must haves, their ‘no ways, absolutely nots’. And they’ve got systems and processes that are tight, like Beyonce on tour level tight! And it’s the way they make you feel from the very first touchpoint. It’s intentional. It’s thoughtful. It’s designed to make your life easier, better, smoother, to make you a loyal customer. This isn’t accidental. It’s incredibly clever. These brands don’t just want to make a sale, they want to be remembered. They want you to feel cared for. And in return, they get loyalty, longevity, ease and success. Property Girl

The Female Boss 45 Investing in a Buy to Let is no different. That property? This is your product, but not just any product. It’s one, just like those savvy successful businesses, that you’re curating with purpose, knowing exactly who you’re buying for. Your tenant isn’t just a name on a contract. They’re your customer. So you need to know what they need and want from a home and a location? Because when you’re clear on that, you stop buying properties that look good on paper, you start buying the right homes for the right people, which means longer tenancies, fewer headaches and a rental that runs as a profitable business. When I left the corporate world to build my property management company, and later became a Landlord myself, I followed these principles. I’d already made a big decision. I wasn’t going to follow the old, outdated rules that everyone seemed to follow. Nope! Miss Rebellious was going to do it her way. I ran my business with intent, structure, and actual care. I realised that if I wanted long term success (and sanity) I needed to get my foundations in place, systems that worked, clear processes and support where I needed it. And then I went all in, just as those successful businesses do, on the customer experience. Every detail mattered. Not just for me, but for my tenants too. From the pink envelopes I posted out to new tenants (Yes! They were a vibe!), to the way I communicated, responded and showed up, I wanted them to feel respected and cared for. Because this builds trust, the relationship grows and it just becomes easier. So many landlords miss the real magic of what this can be. They think it’s all about the numbers and the bottom line, and whilst this absolutely matters, when you put your customer (your tenants) at the heart of it all, when they feel valued, they treat the home and you, with respect. They stay longer, they’re more open. This is what encourages both profitability and peace of mind. When you treat your rental like a real business (the Property Girl way!), lead like a CEO, and create that customer experience, you don’t just raise the standards, you raise your returns too. And the best part? This is for the busy woman, just like you and I, the ones juggling jobs, families and full lives. Because this approach actually frees you up. It’s not about doing more, but rather, being smarter. Building something sustainable, intentional and aligned. When you become the CEO of your rental, you stop reacting and start leading. You create a space that not only generates income, but gives you your freedom, your vision, and your legacy. Own it! Because when you do, everything changes, and so does your life. rebecca@propertygirl.co.uk www.propertygirl.co.uk Rebecca Topham @Property_girl

46 The Female Boss Let’s get one thing clear: you can be brilliant in the boardroom and crave complete solitude the second it’s over. I know this because I’ve lived it. For over 20 years in the world of PR, an industry known for buzz, energy and sparkle, I’ve found myself constantly balancing the visibility my work demands with the deep need to retreat, recharge and go offline. So when a close friend casually called me an “introvert-extrovert,” something clicked. That duality I’d struggled to explain suddenly made perfect sense. Recently, I wrote about this exact feeling on my Substack channel, thinking it was just a passing thought. But the DMs started pouring in. So many women reached out to say, “That’s me too.” It made me realise just how many of us are navigating this space, quietly powerful, deeply connected and often overlooked. Yes, I host events. I coach women and mentor founders, mostly through 1:1 sessions where I feel I can truly connect. But I also find peace in silence, joy in solitude and clarity away from the noise. I love bringing energy into a room and then slipping out, swapping heels for slippers and disappearing for a while. Why This Duality Matters in Business If you’re a woman navigating the world of leadership, whether you're in the C-suite or building your own empire from scratch you’ll probably recognise this feeling. The pressure to show up, be present, be "on" all the time. The social exhaustion that comes with it. The guilt when your energy doesn’t match the loudest voice in the room. But let me offer you this: being both magnetic and mellow is a strength, not a contradiction. We live in a world that often glorifies boldness. The louder, the better. But some of the most impactful Navigating business as an introvert-extrovert woman leaders I know are the quietest in the room, until they speak and everyone listens. Visibility doesn’t require volume. It requires intention. The Reality Behind the Glamour When I started in beauty PR, I imagined glamorous launch events, champagne with editors, the works. And yes, there were moments like that. But more often, it was late-night edits, drenched hair and heels hauling event bags through the rain and answering, for the hundredth time, "Wait, what is PR again?" Most of the magic happens in the mess, in brainstorms, inboxes, spreadsheets and slightly chaotic WhatsApp groups. And that’s where I thrived. Not because I was the loudest, but because I understood the value of both presence and perspective. You Don’t Need to Be Loud to Lead Confidence, for me, has rarely been about volume. It’s been about: • Holding a boundary without apology. • Following up after a pitch, even when my inner critic is screaming. The quiet power of visibility You can be the face of your brand and still take breaks. You can love connecting and still fiercely guard your peace.

The Female Boss • Skipping events to protect my energy, even if it means missing out. If you're in a leadership position or growing a brand, it's okay if visibility feels vulnerable. The trick isn’t to perform confidence, it’s to practice it, quietly and consistently. It builds over time. The Power of Personal PR Here’s what I know: PR isn’t about being fake or performing. It’s about identifying what makes you you and amplifying it authentically. You can be the face of your brand and still take breaks. You can love connecting and still fiercely guard your peace. Personal branding, like leadership, isn’t one-size- fits-all. I can lead a 1:1 coaching session in the morning and decompress with a book by night. That’s not contradiction, that’s balance. If you’ve ever wondered how to be visible without burning out, or lead without being loud, know this: you don’t need to choose one side of yourself. You get to be both. The host and the homebody. The speaker and the listener. The strategist and the soul. So if you're showing up for your business, your team, or your vision and also finding time to retreat, recharge and reconnect with yourself, you're not doing it wrong. You're doing it exactly right. Patrizia Galeota PR Specialist | Coach | Podcast Host @patriziagaleota @prlikeaboss If you identify as a bit of both, the one who can take charge and also vanish post-event without a goodbye, I see you. I am you. And there is real power in that duality. Some of the most successful women I know honour their need for quiet. They don’t shout. They influence. They create meaningful impact without demanding attention. And they do it on their own terms. Here’s what helps me: • Schedule "off" time like you would a meeting. • Protect your boundaries like your business depends on it, because it does. • Show up in ways that feel good to you. • Let your quiet power do the talking. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Okay, I get it... but how do I actually do it?” here are some steps you can take right now: Lessons From My Inner Hermit

After working for one of the largest UK media owners for 25 years, selling advertising across radio and outdoor platforms, Imogen is the epitome of strength and resilience. Many understand all too well the pressures of working in a fast-paced, target-driven sales environment. Over a decade ago, these pressures took a serious toll on Imogen’s mental health. Seemingly out of nowhere, she began suffering from chronic anxiety and panic attacks. Struggling to go into work, this spiralled into a dark period of depression and agoraphobia. She felt panicky and fearful of everything. After consulting with numerous doctors and being prescribed various medications, Imogen chose instead to find a natural path to healing, embarking on a personal quest to reverse what she as experiencing. On her journey of self-discovery, she sought to understand the root of her fear and anxiety. Immersing herself in self-help literature from spirituality to science and came to realise that her nervous system was overstimulated, causing the physical symptoms of anxiety. Through her research, she discovered that her worrying thoughts were triggering the fight-or-flight response, keeping her body in a constant state of stress, with hormones flooding her system daily. She understood that by detaching from her thoughts and learning to relax, she could deactivate this response and return to a natural state of peace and calm. Determined to help others, Imogen sacrificed her weekends for a year to train as a hypnotherapist. Imogen Lamb is a multitasker powerhouse and shining example of how someone can pull themselves from the depths of despair and transform what could have been a tragedy into a triumph, all while helping others along the way. MindSeeds is a 28-day programme designed to help users relax and re- think their thoughts through the power of hypnotherapy. Once qualified, she began offering one-to-one therapy sessions in her spare time, developing a process that significantly reduced anxiety and almost eliminated panic attacks. With so many people healed, she decided she needed to share this with as many people as possible. While still working full-time in her media role and with zero investment, Imogen created an audio programme. Using her network of contacts in the media and agency world, she spent three years writing, recording, and building what would become the MindSeeds App. MindSeeds is a 28-day programme designed to help users relax and re-think their thoughts through the power of hypnotherapy. Available on both the App Store and Google Play, it’s free to download and split into affordable, bite-sized weekly chunks. As Imogen says, it’s “I’ve made it affordable for all, especially those who are struggling the most.” To date it has had over 10,000 downloads and available in 175 countries. Currently, Imogen is in the final stages of releasing seven new audio pods through the app, each addressing specific issues such as healthy anxiety, weight loss, and menopause and we’re told there is something very innovative and different coming as part of these new releases which we can’t wait for. Release date is expected to be early September. It’s incredible to see how she has built something so impactful, all while juggling a demanding career and family life. A true powerhouse, Imogen has created a tool that’s already changing lives and with investors now taking interest, there’s no doubt MindSeeds is on track to become a global success. www.mindseeds.co.uk The Female Boss 49
