Team Updates - New Staff Trustee Strategy Day Thomas Jones Adele Calvard DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER Thomas brings a wealth of cross- industry experience to strengthen the MedicAlert team, including from charity sector roles at the Manchester United Foundation and Young Gloucestershire. Adele has a breadth of health and pharmaceutical industry experience and has partnered with a range of healthcare charities. She will strengthen and build collaborations to help our community. WEDNESDAY 15 APRIL 2026TH MedicAlert will launch a new strategy in 2027. As part of its development, our Board of Trustees and Management Team met in April to discuss a range of topics relevant to our future. The day explored how we can increase our reach, impact and how our support can align with the changing health and social care landscape, including Government initiatives like the Single Patient Record, formally unveiled in the Health Bill in June. Our recent series of member focus groups and this summer’s annual membership survey will play a key part in helping us to develop our next strategy. Preparing a Herbert Protocol means the information needed to help bring them home is already in place. The scheme was inspired by George Herbert, a Normandy veteran living with dementia who went missing several times. It was developed to help reduce the risks faced by people living with dementia and support faster, more informed searches. Voices of MedicAlert The Voices of MedicAlert are a group of MedicAlert members who share their journey with MedicAlert through their social media platforms. She has been raising awareness about the importance of the Herbert Protocol to people living with dementia and how MedicAlert supports carers. Callum recently took a trip to China and has been staying active while travelling. He has shown how MedicAlert works abroad, with the emergency line available in over 100 languages and dialects, and the MedicAlert logo is recognised by first responders all around the world. March 26th was Purple Day, a day celebrated by wearing purple and eliminating the stigma around epilepsy. Introducing Reuben Meet Reuben, the new Voice of MedicAlert. Reuben has been a member of MedicAlert since he was very young and is now a strong advocate for the allergy community and a voice for young people living with allergies who are looking for support. Working alongside his mum, Karina, they share tips and tricks for staying safe with allergies for all ages. Reuben is severely allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish and shellfish. He also has a milk and egg allergy. Wearing his MedicAlert ID every day not only gives him the confidence to advocate for himself but also gives his family the peace of mind that he is safe. National Allergy Strategy Launch TUESDAY 20 APRIL 2026TH Royal College Of Paramedics National Conference SATURDAY 23 - SUNDAY 24 MAY 2026RD RD Ensuring that paramedics, first responders and health professionals are able to recognise and use a MedicAlert ID in an emergency is a crucial part of MedicAlert’s work; as is ensuring that the service is designed with their needs in mind. That is why MedicAlert were proudly part the Royal College of Paramedics National Conference in Newport in May. Conversations were had with delegates about the charities work, along with professional development sessions to gather an insight to help shape future work, including the addition of QR codes to the IDs. MedicAlert CEO Rob Burley was at the launch and spoke with a range of attendees about the role that MedicAlert plays in ensuring that living with an allergy doesn’t limit a person’s confidence, dignity, independence, or safety; and about MedicAlert’s part in helping to deliver some of the strategy’s desired outcomes. This is an exciting time for the allergy community and a positive step forward for allergy inclusivity. New Partnerships Update Partnerships Pectus Matters Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre Partnerships with charities, organisations and health care professionals have always played a vital role in helping MedicAlert grow and reach more people that would benefit from the service. If you think that your company or charity could have joint benefits to both parties, then please get in contact with us. The partnership with Pectus Matters has led to a big uptake in new members. Following a very successful webinar with the Pectus Matters team, everyone living with a pectus condition is now eligable to a MedicAlert ID through the partnership. This webinar also included Pectus Matters’ trustee and surgeon, Simon Kendall. He was able to explain how important the partnership was, and he was invited to speak at the strategy day to summarise the benefits of the partnership. The partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre has given patients at the support centre the opportunity to benefit from the MedicAlert service. Instead of sparking fear, a built-in points system rewards children for smart choices, building positive associations with risk awareness.
