Rotary Year 2014-2015 Theme: Light Up Rotary! Club President: PP Tommy Go District Governor: PDG Marilou Co The Beginning of a Meaningful Journey I joined the Rotary Club of Malabon during Rotary Year 2014–2015. Looking back, I consider it a wonderful year to begin my Rotary journey under the leadership of our Club President, PP Tommy Go, and District Governor, PDG Marilou Co. One of my most unforgettable experiences as a new Rotarian was attending my very first District Conference in 2015. The Talent Night was truly memorable. Seeing thousands of Rotarians united in fellowship, friendship, and service inspired me and gave me a deeper appreciation of what Rotary is all about. It was at that moment that I realized I had become part of something much bigger than myself. ---oooOooo--- Rotary Year 2015–2016 Theme: Be A Gift to the World Club President: PP Arturo Supangan II District Governor: PDG Alfredo “Jun” Abellar My First Rotary International Convention The Rotary Year 2015–2016 marked another important milestone in my Rotary journey as I attended my first Rotary International Convention, held in Seoul, South Korea. It was truly an amazing and unforgettable experience. For the first time, I had the opportunity to witness Rotary on a much larger and more international scale, surrounded by thousands of Rotarians from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, all brought together by the same spirit of service and fellowship. Attending the convention gave me a greater appreciation of how vast the Rotary organization truly is. It allowed me to see that while our individual clubs serve our own communities, we are also part of a worldwide family of Rotarians united by friendship and a common desire to serve others. More than attending the programs and activities, what stayed with me was the international fellowship and camaraderie—meeting fellow Rotarians from around the world, exchanging stories and ideas, and experiencing the friendship that makes Rotary unique. My first R.I. Convention in Seoul opened my eyes to the international world of Rotary and became an experience that further strengthened my appreciation for the organization and my own Rotary journey. ---oooOooo--- -11-

Rotary Year 2016–2017 Theme: Rotary Serving Humanity Club President: PP Ronnie Gagasa District Governor: PDG Lorenzito “Jojo” Lorenzo Accepting the First Leadership Challenge My first major leadership responsibility came when I was appointed Club Secretary. Serving in this role allowed me to understand the importance of organization, teamwork, and dedication behind every successful Rotary club. During the year, I actively participated in numerous high-impact service projects while helping our club prepare for and successfully host Palarotary 2017, one of the district's major fellowship events. This experience strengthened my commitment to Rotary and prepared me for even greater responsibilities in the years ahead. Another memorable experience during the Rotary Year 2016-2017 was attending the Charter Anniversary of our sister-club, the Rotary Club of Panchiao, in Taipei, Taiwan. The visit gave us the opportunity to strengthen the friendship and fellowship between our two clubs and experience the warmth and hospitality of our Taiwanese Rotary family. More than simply attending an anniversary celebration, it reminded me that one of the greatest gifts of Rotary is the lasting friendships we build beyond our own club and across borders. ---oooOooo--- Rotary Year 2018–2019 Theme: Be the Inspiration Club President: PP Noel L. Cuico District Governor: PDG Marilou Co Club Position: Club President District Position: District Oktoberfest Chair A Very Inspiring Year Serving as Club President was the greatest leadership challenge I had experienced up to that point. It was a year filled with learning, growth, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Together with our dedicated club members, we enjoyed an exceptional Rotary year where participation in service projects, fellowship activities, and club events reached new heights. More importantly, this was the year I became deeply connected with Rotary beyond the club level. As District Oktoberfest Chair and as one of the District's Club Presidents, I had the privilege of building lasting friendships with my fellow presidents—my "classmates." Through our meetings, leadership trainings, fellowship, and shared experiences, I grew tremendously both as a Rotarian and as a leader. -13-

Among the many accomplishments of our club that year, two projects became especially meaningful. The first was WOWlympics – Malabon, also known as the SPED Olympics. It was the first project of its kind in our club, and possibly in the District. The event provided children with disabilities an opportunity to showcase their talents, abilities, confidence, and determination. Witnessing the joy and pride on the faces of these remarkable children remains one of my most treasured Rotary memories. The second was the Mangrove and Bird Sanctuary Project in Malabon. Together with our partners, we transformed a school into what is believed to be the only school in the Philippines with its own mangrove forest. We established a bird sanctuary for migratory birds, planted mangrove trees, constructed an educational pathway, and installed a Rotary marker, creating an environmental project that continues to educate future generations. Both projects were later recognized by the District as Outstanding District Projects, making the year even more meaningful for our club. Another major milestone was hosting the District Oktoberfest. Our members poured their hearts into making the event successful. The true spirit, camaraderie, creativity, and teamwork of the Rotary Club of Malabon were on full display. With nearly 1,000 Rotarians in attendance, unlimited food and refreshments, and an atmosphere filled with laughter and fellowship, it became one of the most memorable District celebrations of the year. Our collective efforts were recognized with numerous honors, including: Most Outstanding Club 3rd Place – Most Outstanding Club President Seventeen additional District Awards These recognitions were not mine alone—they reflected the dedication, unity, and passion of every member of the Rotary Club of Malabon. My term as Club President may have ended but my vision for the good of the club remained unchanged as I set my sights on Rotary service beyond the club level. ---oooOooo--- -15-

CATMON & TAAL VOLCANO ERUPTION VICTIMS DISTRICT 3800 VALENTINES FELLOWSHIP HOSTED BY THE ROTARY CLUB OF MALABON BEFORE THE ONSET OF THE COVID PANDEMIC GOODWILL VISIT TO SISTER CLUB, ROTARY CLUB OF PANCHIAO, NEW TAIPEI CITY, TAIWAN
Rotary Year 2019–2020 Theme: Rotary Connects the World Club President: PP Alex Yango District Governor: PDG Nelson Aspe Club Position: Service Projects Chair District Position: District Valentine's Party Chair A Championship Year This year was marked by innovation, service, and resilience. Together with Club President Alex Yango and my fellow Rotarians, we spearheaded the Butterfly Haven Project, the first project of its kind in Rotary District 3800. Built within a school campus, the Butterfly Haven allows students to witness the remarkable transformation of a butterfly— from tiny larvae to a fully grown butterfly—while promoting environmental awareness and appreciation for nature. The Rotary Club of Malabon joined hands with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in sponsoring 1,700 packs of dinner meals for the residents who were affected by a big fire in Barangay Catmon in Malabon City. When Taal Volcano erupted, our club immediately organized relief operations for affected communities across Batangas, demonstrating Rotary's commitment to serving those in times of crisis. Later that year, uncertainty spread as news of COVID-19 began emerging across Asia. Despite growing concerns, our club proceeded with hosting the District Valentine's Fellowship, where I served as Event Chair. That Rotary year was made even more meaningful through a Goodwill Visit to our sister club in Taipei, Taiwan, strengthening the friendship and international fellowship that have always been an important part of my Rotary journey. ---oooOooo--- -17-
Rotary Year 2020–2021 Rotary Opens Opportunities Club President: PP Edwin Sambrano District Governor: PDG Anthony "Tonipi" Parungao Club Position: Public Image Director District Position: Assistant Governor Other Position: Chairman / Prime Minister, League of Very Inspiring Presidents A Transforming Year The COVID-19 pandemic transformed the way Rotary operated. Club meetings, trainings, and fellowship activities shifted almost entirely to virtual platforms, presenting new challenges for every Rotarian. As Chairman and Prime Minister of the League of Very Inspiring Presidents, our priority was to keep fellowship alive while responding to the urgent needs of our communities. Rather than allowing the pandemic to separate us, we turned fellowship into service. Working closely with the District and fellow leaders, we helped initiate two significant District- wide projects: Gulay, Bigas at Telepono, providing essential food supplies and communication assistance to families affected by the pandemic. SPED Eskwela, supporting children with special needs as they continued their education during one of the most difficult periods in recent history. These initiatives reminded us that even in times of uncertainty, Rotary continues to find ways to serve, unite, and bring hope to those who need it most. ---oooOooo--- Rotary Year 2021–2022 Theme: Serve to Change Lives • Club President: PP Ernesto Sia • District Governor: PDG Augusto "Augie" Soliman • District Position: Chair, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Committee A Life-Changing Year Serving as PWD Concerns Chairman was an opportunity to develop projects that not only provided immediate assistance but also created opportunities We had initiated and sponsored the TULAY SPED Livelihood Project, a district-wide livelihood program designed to provide sustainable income opportunities for SPED transitional students, their families, and teachers. -18-

After a rewarding day of service, we shared a boodle fight lunch by the beach. It was a perfect reminder that Rotary is at its best when service and fellowship come together. The friendships built during that project remain among my fondest Rotary memories. Later that year, together with District Service Projects Chair Lito Sese, we spearheaded the District's first integrated Seven Areas of Focus Project in Baras, Rizal. Bringing together all of Rotary's Areas of Focus into one collaborative service initiative demonstrated the impact that can be achieved when clubs and district leaders work together toward a common purpose. Another milestone was the beginning of a meaningful international partnership. Through AG Lee Bong Sik of Rotary District 3750, who was introduced to us through the Rotary Club of Marikina, we successfully matched 15 Rotary clubs from District 3750 in Korea with 15 Rotary clubs from District 3800. These partnerships led to the formation of new sister-club relationships that continue to strengthen international fellowship, cultural exchange, and collaborative service. Serving as District Secretary for Operations was undoubtedly the most demanding assignment I had undertaken in Rotary. It required long hours, countless miles of travel, and unwavering commitment. Yet it was also one of the most rewarding experiences of my Rotary journey. I will always be grateful to Governor Bobby Tanyag for the trust and confidence he placed in me. Likewise, I sincerely thank my fellow District Secretaries, IATPs, Assistant Governors, and District leaders for their friendship, teamwork, and unwavering support. Together, we made this remarkable year one that I will always treasure. One suggestion consider ending each section with a short "Lessons " Looking back, this Rotary year taught me that true leadership is not measured by titles or recognition, but by the lives we touch, the friendships we build, and the opportunities we create for others to serve. ---oooOooo--- Rotary Year 2023–2024 Theme: Create Hope in the World Club President: PP Tomas Domingo District Governor: PDG Ronald “Pope” Solis District Position: District Youth Chair An Inspired Year of Serving the Youth The Rotary Year 2023–2024 became another meaningful chapter in my Rotary journey, particularly because of the opportunity to serve our young people and help create experiences that would remain with them for years to come. As District Youth Chair, I was fortunate to accompany District Governor Ronald “Pope” Solis and his spouse, Tita Vicky, when District 3800 was invited to attend the District 3750 District Conference in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. During our visit, we began discussing an idea that would eventually become one of the most memorable youth activities of the year—a Youth Cultural Exchange between District 3800 and our Korean counterparts. -14-

-16- Later that year, that idea became a reality. We gave our Interactors the opportunity to travel to South Korea, experience Korean culture firsthand, meet their Korean counterparts, and build friendships beyond borders. For many of them, traveling to Korea was a dream come true. More than simply visiting another country, they experienced a different way of life, learned from one another, and discovered how friendship can overcome differences in language and culture. It was an experience they would never forget and one they would treasure for a long time. A few months later, it was our turn to welcome the Korean Interactors to the Philippines. From the moment they arrived, the reunion was filled with excitement, laughter, friendship, and even tears of joy. Seeing the young people from both countries together again was especially touching. What began as a Rotary youth activity had developed into genuine friendships and memories that neither side had expected when the program first began. For me, witnessing these young people embrace one another, share their cultures, and form friendships across countries was a powerful reminder of what Rotary can accomplish through our youth. My heartfelt thanks go to Governor Pope and Tita Vicky, whose support helped make this meaningful exchange possible. I am equally grateful to our Outbound Team of Interactors—Ella, Kaori, Mitzi, Johan, Samantha, Maria, Sophia, Jairus, and AJ—together with their teachers, parents, and guardians, and to PP Jed, PP Jaja, PP Grace, and Jasselle for accompanying and supporting our young delegates. Our sincere appreciation also goes to our Inbound Team and sponsors—PP Luz, PP Ophel, PP Oying, PP Mona, PP Larry and Gina, PDG Bobby Z, and PDG Gina—for extending their generosity and warm Filipino hospitality to our Korean guests. And, of course, my deepest appreciation goes to our Korean counterparts, led by PP Youn of the Rotary Club of Songtan, whose friendship and cooperation helped turn an idea into an unforgettable international experience for our young people. A very special thank you also goes to all the members of our District Youth Service Committee. Your dedication, teamwork, time, and unwavering support were essential in bringing our youth programs to life. These accomplishments were never the work of one person, but the result of a committee that shared the same passion for creating meaningful opportunities for our young people. The exchange may have lasted only a short time, but the friendships, lessons, and memories it created will last much longer. For our Interactors, it was an opportunity to discover another culture and another country. For us Rotarians, it was an opportunity to witness young people building friendships across borders. And in its own special way, it truly Created Hope in the World. Kaya Mo, Kaya Ko — Rotaractors and SPED Mini Olympics Later that Rotary year, we also initiated another meaningful youth project, “Kaya Mo, Kaya Ko” — the Rotaractors and SPED Mini Olympics, held at the Marikina Sports Center.

14 The project brought together Rotaractors and SPED children for a one-of-a-kind sports day, where they teamed up and participated in fun and inclusive games and activities. More than a sports event, Kaya Mo, Kaya Ko was about inclusion, friendship, teamwork, and encouragement. It gave our SPED children the opportunity to participate, compete, laugh, and celebrate their abilities alongside young Rotaractors who served not only as partners, but also as friends and supporters throughout the day. Seeing the Rotaractors and SPED children working together reminded us that sports can be a powerful way to break barriers and bring people closer. On that day, the focus was not on disabilities or limitations, but on what each participant could do and what they could accomplish together. The name “Kaya Mo, Kaya Ko” captured the spirit of the project perfectly—a simple message of confidence and encouragement: “You can do it, I can do it, and together, we can.” It became another memorable part of my year as District Youth Chair, demonstrating how Rotary’s youth programs can go beyond leadership development by nurturing compassion, acceptance, and a genuine desire to serve others. Once again, my heartfelt appreciation goes to the Youth Service Committee Members, our Rotaractors, participating schools, teachers, parents, volunteers, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make these activities possible. Together, we did more than organize youth programs.
