Dear Parents, ברוכים הבאים– A heartfelt welcome to the תשפ"ז school year. As we begin another year together, we thank the Ribbono Shel Olam for the privilege of partnering with you in the Chinuch of your sons. At Cheder Be'er Yeshaya, every talmid is valued as an individual, and our mission is to inspire a love of Torah, יראת שמים, and מידות טובות while providing an outstanding education in both Limudei Kodesh and general studies. A central message of our Chinuch is that every boy should know who he is and what he is capable of becoming. When a child recognizes his own value as a בן מלך, he approaches his learning, his relationships, and his responsibilities with confidence and purpose. The greatest success comes when home and schoolwork together. Your partnership and trust are invaluable, and we look forward to working together to help every child flourish. Please take a few moments to review this Parent Handbook, which contains important information and policies to help ensure a smooth and successful school year. We daven that Hashem grant us continued סייעתא דשמיא and bless our entire Be’er Yeshaya family with a year of growth, success, and much nachas from all of our talmidim. בברכת הצלחה רבה וסייעתא דשמיא, Menahel Cheder Be’er Yeshaya Letter from the Menahel

Dear Parents, As we prepare, בעזרת ה', to begin another successful year at Cheder Be'er Yeshaya, I would like to welcome both our returning and new families. We are grateful to have a strong and dedicated leadership team guiding our Cheder. Under the leadership of our Menahel, Rabbi Shmelka Dachner, together with our Administrator, Mr. Yanky Klein, we look forward to another year of meaningful growth in לימוד התורה, יראת שמים, מידות טובות, בן מלך , and academic excellence, while continuing to provide the warm, nurturing environment in which every talmid can thrive. I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to our parent body for the outstanding partnership you have shown throughout the past year. Your commitment to timely tuition payments, participation in our fundraising campaigns, and ongoing support of the Cheder enables us to continue providing the high standard of Chinuch and education that our children benefit from each day. A successful Cheder is built on a true partnership between parents and the school, and we are deeply grateful for yours. On behalf of the Board, I wish every family a healthy, happy, and successful school year. May we continue to work together to help each of our children reach their fullest potential in תורה, יראת שמים, מידות טובות, and academic excellence. I look forward to continuing our partnership and am always here to help in any way I can. With warm regards, Ari Flohr Board Member Cheder Be'er Yeshaya Letter on Behalf of the Board

2.1 Attendance • Regular attendance is required every school day, including Sundays. Sunday is an essential part of the school week, and all students are expected to attend. Permission from the Menahel is required before any planned absence from Cheder. • Students must return on time after every scheduled vacation — Sukkos, Chanukah, Pesach, and Mid-Winter Vacation — just as they are expected on the first day of Cheder. Vacation days should not be extended beyond the scheduled dates. In extenuating circumstances, permission may be granted to leave early, but not to return late. • A note explaining the reason must be sent to the Rebbe/Teacher whenever a child is late or absent. Repeated unexcused absences or lateness, after notification by the Cheder, may result in suspension. • Appointments (medical, dental, etc.) should be scheduled outside of school hours whenever possible. If a child must leave during the school day, please send a note indicating the pickup time. Parents should report to the office to sign their child out; a secretary will then call the child from class. • Please avoid calling the office to deliver messages to students except in genuine emergencies, as classroom interruptions can be disruptive to both students and staff. Extended Absences • Extended absences must be discussed with the Menahel in advance, and a written request should be submitted as far in advance as possible. Cheder Expectations

• Regular attendance is essential to a child's success, since learning is cumulative and absences can make it difficult to keep pace with the class. The school is not responsible for providing makeup work for vacations taken during the school year, and in exceptional cases a student may be required to repeat the year. • Parents are expected to ensure regular attendance and that children are absent only when necessary. 2.2 Arrival and Departure Bus Transportation • Bus transportation is provided daily by local school districts, except on Sundays and certain legal holidays. On those days, parents must ensure their children arrive on time. • Bus passes are mailed home just before each school year begins. For a replacement, contact your district's bus transportation office. • Families who move mid-year must visit their School District Bus Transportation Office with proof of residency before a new bus pass can be issued. • A signed note or email to the school receptionist is required for any change in bus. Without written permission from a parent/guardian, a student will not be allowed on any bus other than his regular one. • Begin searching immediately if an item is left on the bus. The driver may keep it on board temporarily or place it in the lost and found at the bus garage. • Label all valuables with your son's name and “Cheder Be'er Yeshaya” in English, since each bus transports hundreds of students from a variety of schools every day.

Early Dismissal • A signed note from a parent/guardian is required for early dismissal. Parents may not pick up children directly from classrooms; the receptionist will bring the student to the office. Riding a Bicycle or Scooter • Riding a bicycle or scooter to or from Cheder is strictly prohibited. Carpool Days – Traffic Safety To maintain the utmost safety on carpool days, please be aware of the following guidelines: • Dismissal begins approximately five minutes before the official end of the school day. • Please drive slowly and watch for crossing children — do not exceed 5 MPH — even though whoever is on carpool duty will be vigilant about safety. • Rabbi Baum and Rabbi Hyman will oversee traffic as Bus Directors to ensure dismissal runs safely and efficiently. All parents must follow their directions and park as close to the exit as possible, in both Lane 1 (closer to the school) and Lane 2 (closer to the road). • Students will wait in their classrooms until their names are called — please do not ask your sons to wait outside. Once your car is parked, you will be asked for the names of the students you are picking up. • Cars parked at the entrance will not be called, for safety reasons. Your children's names will be called only once your car is positioned in one of the two lanes.

• Please keep moving once children are safely seated so as not to hold up traffic. 2.3 Student Support Services • The Cheder's resource team works closely with classroom teachers to support students who would benefit from additional academic help. The program is overseen by the Menahel, who serves as Student Services Coordinator. • Some support services may involve additional costs, which will always be discussed with parents in advance. Questions about fees may be directed to the Cheder office. • The school may, from time to time, suggest evaluations, tutoring, counseling, or other supports that could benefit a child's growth and success, reflecting the strong partnership we value between home and school. • The Menahel will work with families to recommend outside resources when a student would benefit from services beyond what is available within the school. 2.4 Midwinter Vacation • Midwinter Vacation this year is limited to two days: Friday, February 20, and Sunday, February 22. • A special program will run on Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24, giving all talmidim a chance to enjoy themselves and return refreshed for the remainder of the school year. • All talmidim are expected back at Cheder on Wednesday, February 25. Families who wish to extend their vacation may do so on Monday and Tuesday.

3.1 Visits to Cheder • Classroom visits require prior arrangement with the Menahel. All parents and visitors must report to the front office, and no one may enter a classroom during school hours without permission from, or accompaniment by, the appropriate School administrator. • Please do not engage staff or students in conversation during class time. Educators have a duty of care to their students and a responsibility to use class time effectively for learning; discussions during this time prevent the Rebbe, Morah, or Teacher from performing their duties responsibly. • Requests to speak with a Rebbe, Morah, or Teacher should go through the school office, which will arrange an appointment or a call at a mutually convenient time. • Ad hoc meetings cannot offer the same outcomes as formally arranged ones. Please understand that impromptu conversations are not treated with the same expectations as meetings scheduled in advance. 3.2 Uniform Policy Students are expected to dress in a manner that reflects a Ben Torah, in keeping with the Cheder's Torah atmosphere and values. Our school uniform is intended to build a sense of pride and belonging, reflecting the values, behaviors, and ethos for which Be'er Yeshaya is respected. Every student's dress should reflect his personal commitment to Torah and Middos, both to himself and to the community he represents. Cheder Policies

General Uniform Requirements • CBY uniform as provided by Lands' End, including shirt/polo shirt, pants, and sweater. • Required every day of the week, including Sundays. • White shirts are encouraged on Rosh Chodesh. • Kappel: black or blue (plain) through fifth grade; black (plain, no writing) from fifth grade and up. • Shirts must be tucked into pants, not hanging out loosely. • Haircut: regular, cut evenly in both the front and back. • Shoes: black or navy school shoes/sneakers — no sandals or crocs. • Socks: black or blue, with no logos or writing. • No shorts, other than when requested for a specific school activity or trip. • No wristbands. From the Age of Bar Mitzvah • Shirt: white button-down or white polo shirt with a collar. • Pants: school pants ordered through Lands' End, or pants matching the suit. • Jacket: navy blue or black suit jacket. • Davening: a hat and suit are required. • Parents are asked to ensure their child arrives each day in proper uniform, in keeping with the Cheder's guidelines. • Parents will be contacted to bring the correct uniform to school if a student arrives without it.

3.3 Parent Dress Code Parents are asked to adhere to the Cheder's Tznius standards at all times, including during morning and afternoon drop-off and pick-up, PTA meetings, school events, and at home. Maintaining these standards of Tznius and Kavod Habriyos is an important part of our Cheder's values, and we deeply appreciate your consistent observance. • Women: skirts and dresses must cover the knee, with sleeves extending below the elbow and high necklines. Leg coverings or stockings and proper hair covering are required; mini skirts and dresses are not permitted. • The Menahel is available to discuss acceptable attire if you have any questions. Any concerns will be raised with you respectfully; continued noncompliance could ultimately affect enrollment. We deeply appreciate your sensitivity and cooperation. 3.4 Shacharis and Minyan Policy Grades 6, 7, and 8 daven Shacharis in Cheder, beginning at 7:50 AM, Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served daily. 3.5 Kashrus OU-D and chalav stam foods are not permitted in Cheder. All food sent to school should carry a suitable hechsher; please be mindful and sensitive to others' kashrus standards.

3.6 Nutrition • Please send enough Kashrus-compliant food and snacks to last the full day. Your son will have two snack breaks and should have a small snack available for each. Please also remind him not to share his snack or lunch with other students. • Please avoid sending cakes, cookies, candy, soda, or other sugary snacks. Fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, pretzels, and raisins are good alternatives. Gum is not permitted in school. • The Cheder supplies fresh fruit and vegetables to encourage healthy eating, and has minimized unhealthy ingredients (such as Red 40, added sugar, white flour, and MSG) in breakfast and lunch menus. We ask that parents likewise minimize unhealthy snacks sent from home. 3.7 Family Simchas Please email details of any family Simchah to secretary@chederby.org — we would love to celebrate with you! 3.8 Snow Days Call 845-694-6015 and dial 8 for school-closing updates during inclement weather. Closure updates are posted by 6:45 AM, along with an email and text notification. 3.9 Bar Mitzvahs • The Menahel will inform students of arrival and departure times before each Bar Mitzvah, based on the event schedule.

• Please ensure your son follows these times and is picked up promptly at the designated departure time. 3.10 Birthday Parties • Outside parties or celebrations that include other students are not permitted, including birthdays, achievements, or other special occasions. • A special snack or cake may be brought to Cheder to celebrate with the class instead. Your child will be formally recognized and celebrated with his classmates. 3.11 Technology Media Influence and Internet Policy The Cheder is committed to guiding students toward responsible, appropriate technology use, helping them develop the ability to distinguish between positive and harmful influences. Recommendations • A flip phone is recommended if a student needs access to a phone. • Smartphones are not permitted. • Any device used by a student must have a proper filter — parental controls alone are not sufficient. • Technology use should be limited on school nights. • Discussions about movies, games, and other inappropriate media are not permitted in school.

Parents are encouraged to follow these guidelines at home as well, avoiding content that does not reflect Torah values. Technology in Cheder • Electronic devices may not be brought to Cheder or on the bus, including smartphones, smart watches, cameras, gaming devices, music players, laptops, and storage devices. • Prohibited devices will be confiscated and returned only to a parent/guardian after a meeting with the Menahel. • The Cheder is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.

Your cooperation ensures a safe and positive experience for everyone! We look forward to a productive year together, filled with growth, learning, and success. .אמן Menahel Cheder Be’er Yeshaya I acknowledge that I have read and reviewed the Parent-Student Handbook. Please sign here:
