Some Common & Generic Questions in a Job InterviewHow did you hear about this job? What do you know about this company? What interests you about this role? What motivates you? Why are you leaving your previous job? What are your goals in the immediate future? Where do you see yourself in the upcoming 4/5 years?

Why should we hire you? What makes you unique? What is your greatest challenge and how do you deal with or over come it? How do you handle your stress (especially when it comes to the work you’re doing) ? What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Describing Strengths and Weaknesses

Weakness(Communication/Confidence) (Time Management) (Perfectionism) (Delegation)

Example 1 (Communication / Confidence) “One of my biggest challenges used to be speaking up in large group settings. I worried about saying the wrong thing, which sometimes held me back from sharing ideas. To improve, I started preparing key points beforehand and practiced contributing early in meetings. I also asked for feedback from mentors. Over time, I became much more confident, and now I regularly lead discussions and present updates without hesitation.” Example 2 (Time Management) “My greatest challenge was juggling multiple deadlines at once. I used to get overwhelmed when everything felt urgent. To fix this, I started using a priority matrix and blocking out focused work time. It helped me stay organized and reduced stress. Now I’m much more efficient, and I consistently meet deadlines even during busy periods.” Example 3 (Perfectionism) “I tend to be a perfectionist, which sometimes slowed me down. I learned to balance quality with efficiency by setting clear goals’ and asking teammates for early feedback instead of waiting until something is perfect. This helped me deliver faster while still meeting high standards.” Example 4 (Delegation) “A challenge for me was delegating tasks because I felt responsible for doing everything myself. I overcame this by learning to trust my team, assigning responsibilities based on strengths, and checking in at clear milestones instead of trying to control everything. This improved team productivity and reduced burnout.”

Explain briefly and clearly (to avoid unnecessarily information). When telling the weaknesses, give the interviewer information but arrange your words carefully (to minimalise the risks). Mentioning what you have been doing to deal with your weakness might help. Try to avoid mentioning the weakness that has relation to the job. Being convinced and convincing when you’re telling your strengths (to rise the possibilities of being hired. also mentioning the strengths that have relation to the job)

It is okay to not be able to answer a certain question. Do not panic when it happens to you. However, you cannot just leave the answer “I do not know”. You must add at least a response/reason to your answer. In addition, you could also ask time to think about the answer (if possible), skip and go to the next question, and get back to the question later with the answer. Example I am sorry/ apologise, Is it possible that we talk about this question later? I’ve been in that kind of situation. I just need more time to arrange my answer. They could also ask if they can refer to their notes, (as they want to answer the Qs to the best of their ability)
