Red Bear woke for the day, ready to play. Good morning birds. Good morning trees. Good morning bees buzzing in the breeze. “I’m building a rock tower today!” “Hooray!” They say. Red Bear gathered rocks. Red Bear made a pile. Then, Red Bear began to stack. “One, two, three. Look at me!” “Four, five. Look how high!” “Seven, eight. I’ll stack them straight!” “Nine … oh no! I didn’t make it to ten. They fell and now I have to start over again.” Red Bear said, “I’m all done!” Walking away, Red Bear saw a flower dancing in the sun. Red Bear picked up the flower and took a breath in. Red Bear slowly blew out, creating wind. After three breaths, Red Bear felt calm. “I stick with things and get things done!” Red Bear felt disappointed. Red Bear felt frustrated. Red Bear’s feet stomped the ground with a big, thunderous sound. 4 © 2022 Generation Mindful. All rights reserved.

Use your pinwheel during big emotions to help calm your body and mind. Take deep, slow breaths to spin the pinwheel and help you feel better! Double-sided gift wrap, construction paper, or color your own white paper (both sides!) Pencil Pushpin Tape or Glue Scissors 1. Cut your paper into a 4“ square (remember that both sides of the paper will show!) 2. Fold your square diagonally, unfold, and then fold diagonally in the other direction. 3. Cut along the 4 creases you made, staying at least 0.5” away from the center. 4. Fold every other point towards the center so the points overlap, gluing or taping them down as you go. 5. Use your pushpin to poke a hole through the center where your points overlap. Wiggle it around a bit so the pinwheel spins more easily. 6. Stick the pushpin into the side of your pencil‘s eraser (not too close to the top!) and make sure it is secure and not poking out the other side.
