It is an absolute honor to welcome you to the 18th Annual Gulfstream Continuous Improvement Symposium! Continuous improvement is vital to the culture of both Gulfstream and General Dynamics; in many ways it forms a cornerstone of our past, present, and future success. Simply put, continuous improvement means working within a team, being curious and asking questions, developing and testing solutions, sharing knowledge, and taking action to make something better than it was before. This is an effort we can all participate in, regardless of our role, title, or location. I’ve had the great fortune to be exposed to the fundamentals of continuous improvement early and often in my career. Looking back, I can see now how central it was in shaping both what I did and who I would become. My guess is many of you have a similar story to tell; if not, I hope this week might launch a new chapter in your own journey. This week we will have an opportunity to meet new people, learn more about different parts of the business, and celebrate our shared discoveries and accomplishments. Everyone’s experience will be a little different, but I hope you will appreciate the care, commitment and passion on display by our event organizers, presenters, featured speakers, fellow attendees, and venue staff. On Day 1, we’ll spend the morning together hearing different business leaders describe some key themes in each of their areas. We’ll then spend the afternoon relaxing, enjoying each other’s company, and hopefully making new friends. You will also have some free time in the evening to spend however you see fit. Have fun and remember to always be responsible and respectful. On Day 2, we’ll spend the whole day moving from room to room, hearing from all the presenters who were selected to share their amazing projects at this year’s event. Although there are four different themed tracks, you are free to pre-select and attend any of the presentations that are most relevant or interesting to you. WELCOME We’ll close the event by coming back together for group pictures, a recognition dinner, and a keynote message. I really hope you enjoy the week, and I would ask that you fully engage by being an active participant, making new connections, and sharing what you will learn. I am incredibly grateful for your participation, leadership and commitment to continuous improvement and each other. Safe travels here and back again and wherever your journey takes you next.
