A message from our conference president, Peter Ingenito “At-home assistance is one of the best rendered charities and one that produces the best results, above all, in these times when help is generally dispensed with such culpable indierence; and you are aware of this, Gentlemen, now that you have all experienced it.” Bl. Frédéric Ozanam (1834) As Vincentians, a question that is routinely asked to us is, “What happens at the home visit?” From time to time, and in this space, we will be providing insight into the Home Visit and what distinguishes these visits from other ministries. Vincentians always travel in pairs for safety and to oer mutual support. A standard visit generally follows these sequential steps: 1.Opening Prayer: The team begins with a quiet prayer in the car or right before entering to center them- selves spiritually. 2.The Introduction: They introduce themselves simply as members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, ensuring the tone is warm, non-judgmental, and welcoming. 3. Active Listening: The core of the visit is letting the individual or family share their story, listening deeply to both their spoken words and emotional needs. 4.Assessment of Needs: Together, they discuss immediate crises (like an overdue utility bill, overdue rent or empty pantry) and look for systemic, long-term challenges. 5. Closing and Next Steps: The Vincentians oer immediate assistance, if possible, lay out a plan for fol- low-up support, and ask if the family would like to join them in a closing prayer. Next time, The Conference Meeting… How Vincentians, after the home visit, advocate for our neighbors. In the meantime, if you ever have any questions about the Society, please feel free to email me at petving@optonline.net and we can setup a time to talk.

On Sunday, October 25th, 2026, the Grade 8 Confirmation Commitment Mass was celebrated by Fr. Shibi, assisted by Deacon George. This special Mass introduced our Grade 8 candidates, who are continuing their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation during the 2026-2027 school year. At this Mass, the candidates committed themselves to growing in their faith, deepening their relationship with Jesus, and preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in May 2027. Both candidates and parents reaffirmed their commitment to this important journey of faith. During the Mass, each candidate was presented with a one-decade rosary as a symbol of their commitment to prayer and to growing closer to Jesus as they continue their spiritual preparation. May this rosary serve as a reminder of the importance of daily prayer and of remaining open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. as a reminder of the importance of daily prayer and of remaining open to th it. On Sunday, November 1st, the Grade 1 students celebrated All Saints Day by dressing up as their favorite saints at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Shibi and the children proudly represented the saints, honoring their lives and examples of faith. It was a wonderful celebration enjoyed by all the students, families, and parishioners who came together to celebrate and honor the saints.
