3.PARTNERS SMU students have the opportunity to spend a semester at one of our partner universities abroad, allowing them to explore the university, immerse themselves in the local culture, and enjoy the enriching experience of studying internationally. 1.INTRODUCTION 2.ELIGIBILITY MSB : - Must be an L2 or L3 semester 1 student during the exchange. - Minimum CGPA 2.3. MedTech: - Eligible year: Depends on the program. - Minimum CGPA of 2.5. Must write a motivation statement. Must be willing to take an overload.
At the start of each academic year, the IP Department opens exchange registration through this form. Info sessions provide program details and answer questions. Deadlines are announced via the events calendar and email, so students should check department emails and newsletters for updates. The registration requires personal information, a motivation letter, and details of extracurricular activities and previous experience. 4.EXCHANGE REGISTRATION To better understand your profile, you will be invited for an interview with a panel comprising of the International Programs Manager and your Program Director. During the interview, you will discuss your motivation, goals, financial situation, and top three university choices for your exchange semester. As this is a competitive process, we encourage you to present yourself confidently and make a strong impression! 5.INTERVIEW 6.NOMINATION After your interview, if selected, you will receive an email with your university allocation and the exchange contract. To confirm your participation, you must reply to the email with a signed copy of the exchange contract, a document signed by both you and your legal guardian, agreeing to the terms and conditions of the exchange—including the cancellation penalty. Before the International Programs Department can send your official nomination, you must also complete the required information form. If you choose to decline the offer, please inform the department by the deadline to be considered for the runner-up list for another university.
UNIVERSITY FACTSHEETS 8.HOST UNIVERSITY APPLICATION After your official nomination, you'll receive an email with the application procedures for the host university on our partner's platform. Please ensure you submit your application before the specified deadlines: 7.EXCHANGE PROGRAM DROP OUT If you encounter any difficulties during your exchange application, don’t hesitate to contact the department for assistance. Reaching out early can help resolve issues before they escalate. If you decide to withdraw from the exchange program, you must complete this form to officially notify the International Programs team. You will need to gather the following documents (depending on the university) CV Transcripts (to be requested from registrar by filling out this form) English Language Waiver (provided by International Programs Department.) Special documents: Kedge Business School (to be signed by IP) - Certificate of English Level - Certificate of French Level (only if you are taking French courses) - Certificate of Academic Level Rennes School of Business (to be signed by IP) - Coordinator form
9.LEARNING AGREEMENT 10.COURSE REGISTRATION Your host university will provide your course registration details. Use your login credentials to access the host university's course platform. It is your responsibility to register for courses before the deadline. 11.HOUSING It is the student's responsibility to secure housing before they leave for exchange for visa purposes. In order to create a blocked account you need to provide the following documents to your bank agency: - ID - Acceptance Letter - Certificate of non-scholarship holder 13.CAMPUS FRANCE While working on your host university application, you must send a list of all the courses you have taken at SMU to the International Programs Coordinator. They will then provide you with the courses you are required to take at the host university. You will receive a Learning Agreement document, which you must complete with your selected courses and obtain signatures from both the Academic Coordinator and the International Programs Coordinator.
14.VISA PROCEDURES 15.TRACKING FORM To monitor the process, the International Programs Student Coordinator will send you a tracking form to ensure everything is proceeding on schedule. You can find the tracking form here. 16.PREDEPARTURE ORIENTATION The pre-departure orientation session prepares students for their exchange. These sessions provide valuable information on topics such as culture shock, health and travel insurance, packing, and entry requirements. 17.STAYING IN TOUCH It is necessary that you stay in touch with the International Programs Department, in case of any course related or any other issue that might face you. As soon as you arrive you are required to send us your host university email address and new phone number. The IP team will contact you during your exchange for updates, testimonials, photos and videos. 18.RETURNING TO SMU After your exchange experience it is time to come back to SMU. The IP department will contact you to attend the mandatory reintegration session, to discuss different topics like next steps and reverse cultural shock. Apart from that, you are required to fill out the exchange survey in order to help us improve our services.
