The Career Literacy Leadership Summit 2026 Participant Workbook Volume 1 is a practical guide for educators, school leaders, guidance counsellors, career advisors, policymakers, and education professionals attending the summit. It is designed to help participants reflect on current practices, capture ideas, evaluate school career literacy readiness, and develop an actionable plan for change.
The workbook opens with a personal note from Dr. Sophia Nicole Morgan, founder of Explore Career Academy and creator of the Career Literacy Framework. It includes a Career Literacy Pledge where participants commit to implementing at least one actionable change in their institution within 90 days.
The purpose of the summit is to explore how schools can intentionally develop career literacy from early childhood through secondary education. The workbook captures foundational insights, frameworks, and tools shared during the live event, with plans for an expanded Volume 2 edition.
A section on why career literacy matters explains that technological advancement, changing labour markets, and emerging industries require learners to possess more than academic knowledge. Career literacy helps students understand themselves, explore careers, build transferable skills, and make informed decisions.
The workbook presents a comparison between current reality and the career literacy solution, contrasting one-off career days with continuous developmental journeys, and reactive guidance with proactive systems. A reflection prompt asks school leaders to identify the most urgent shift for their school.
The Career Literacy Leadership Competency Map includes five competencies: visionary leadership, systems design, resource allocation, data-driven decision making, and partnership and community engagement. Each competency has a self-assessment scale from 1 to 5, with space for an overall score and first action step.
