A Visionary Move! It was in the year 1950, Gurudev with his followers spearheaded the movement of voluntary service by organizing a free eye camp at Chitrakoot. Despite the many challenges and the absence of basic facilities, the team was able to facilitate around 950 cataract operations through the camp. 1950 Story so Far... Over the years, the organization has grown up to a greater strength and has become one of the largest rural non-governmental organization, actively delivering in integral areas of socio- economic development. 1968 The Beginning of a New Era! These efforts gradually led to the establishment of the formal institution “Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust” (SSSST), under the chairmanship of the late Shri Arvindbhai N. Mafatlal. 2026

Rooted in the blessings of Param Pujya Shri Ranchhoddasji Maharaj and inspired by the enduring vision of our Founder Chairman, Late Shri Arvindbhai N. Mafatlal, the Trust continues its journey towards empowering rural communities through healthcare, education, women’s empowerment and welfare initiatives. We fondly remember Padma Shri Dr. B. K. Jain, whose extraordinary dedication, wisdom and institution- building leadership shaped the Trust’s transformative journey across Chitrakoot and beyond. His life remains a lasting source of inspiration for all of us. This year marks an important milestone with the upcoming operationalisation of Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Kashi, envisioned as a modern tertiary eye care institution serving underserved communities across Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Alongside this, several outreach and development initiatives have continued to strengthen our engagement with communities at the grassroots level. Padma Shri Dr. B. K. Jain, a visionary ophthalmologist and devoted disciple of Param Pujya Gurudev Shri Ranchhoddas Ji Maharaj, dedicated over 52 years to selfless service in Chitrakoot. After joining Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust in 1974, he pioneered an innovative model of rural development through eye care, demonstrating that restoring sight can improve education, productivity, livelihoods and overall quality of life. While expanding access to high-quality eye care for underserved communities, he recognized that sustainable health outcomes are closely linked to social and economic well-being. Under his leadership, the Trust strengthened initiatives in women's empowerment, education, cattle care, sustainable agriculture, livelihood enhancement and community development, creating opportunities for rural families to achieve dignity and self-reliance. Padma Shri Dr. B. K. Jain believed that true success in life and service is founded upon the principles of the “3 S of Success” Self-Discipline, Self-Devotion and Self-Confidence. The Trust operates multiple eye and general hospitals, runs transformative educational programmes from primary to higher secondary levels and offers vocational training that equips rural youth with essential livelihood skills. Programs aimed at empowering women have provided essential skills and financial independence, promoting community sustainability. SAFE CHILD BIRTHS INITIATIVES Women's Empowerment 77,500+ More than 77,500 students have benefited from the Trust's educational programs, from primary to higher secondary levels. STUDENTS EDUCATED 3.03 Crore+ The Trust has reached over 3.03 Crore individuals with essential healthcare and support across the underserved regions. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Eye Hospital, located in Bareilly and Dashmesh Eye Hospital, situated in Banda Shahjahanpur, stand as prominent providers of eye care services in the western region of Uttar Pradesh. With over three decades of dedicated service, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Eye Hospital has been committed to the eradication of avoidable blindness. Both establishments boast state-of- the-art ophthalmic facilities to ensure comprehensive care. Both of these hospitals operate under the auspices of the National Society for Prevention of Blindness and are managed by the Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust. Chitrakoot Jankikund Chikitsalaya is a 250 bed multi-speciality hospital at Chitrakoot, well equipped with modern operation theatres, latest equipments and finest diagnostic facilities. Since 1978, the hospital has served several patients from backward and populous states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services to approximately 1.74 lakh rural patients annually. Shri Sadguru Sankalp Chikitsalaya was established in 1982 and is equipped with modern operation theatres and equipments with good diagnostic facilities. Started as one-room OPD in 1982, the hospital today has four dedicated modular OTs and a premium OPD, catering to the healthcare needs of the rural population in the region. The hospital is providing comprehensive healthcare services to more than 40,000 patients annually. TRAINING & CAPACITY BUILDING IN EYE HEALTH Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust remains committed to advancing eye health delivery by strengthening the skills and leadership capacity of professionals across India and neighbouring regions. Through structured training programs, peer learning platforms and targeted workshops, the Trust has fostered excellence in both clinical and operational domains of eye care. Our training initiatives cater to a broad spectrum of participants - including ophthalmologists, allied ophthalmic personnel, nurses and eye hospital administrators - representing both government and non- government sectors. Emphasizing practical learning, all programs are designed to elevate clinical expertise, improve patient care systems and promote sustainable service delivery models. SNC, in collaboration with Seva Foundation and LAICO, a train- the-trainers EYEXCEL programme was conducted at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya to strengthen quality and capacity in eye care services, with sessions led by Arun Kumar Acharya, enhancing institutional training systems and improving service delivery standards. SNC, in collaboration with Cure Blindness and Sunsure Energy, an Ophthalmic Assistant Refresher T r a i n i n g P r o g r a m m e w a s conducted at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya to enhance primary eye care skills and service delivery, strengthening the capacity of vision technicians, and improving access to quality eye care in rural healthcare settings. SNC, in collaboration with Seva Foundation, a four-day quality assurance workshop on eye care was conducted at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya to strengthen clinical quality systems and patient safety practices, with faculty including Dr. Binita Sharma and Dr. Diwa Hamal Lamichhane, enhancing infection control, workforce management, and institutional capacity. SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS EMPLOYMENT RATE POST-TRAINING Achieved close to a 100% employment rate for women completing vocational training at our institute, reflecting successful job placements. SKILL DEVELOPMENT & TRANSFORMING LIVES 100+ Developed and marketed more than 100 different product lines through our Mahila Samitis, led by women, showcasing innovation and entrepreneurial success. Product Lines in Manufacturing and Sales We have developed and marketed several medical products such as Disposable Gowns, PPE Kits, Face Masks and Eye Drapes. This initiative not only support healthcare facilities but also provides substantial employment opportunities for rural women. Generated a turnover of over 4.42 Crore from local self-help groups led by women, highlighting significant economic contributions and growth. Under the initiative, alongside cataract screening and vision restoration services, the programme established 10 Vision Centres with the support of Seva Foundation and initiated efforts to strengthen eye care services across 14 Government Community Health Centres (CHCs), supported by Mission for Vision, thereby improving access to primary eye care at the community level. After losing her father two years ago, the responsibility of running the household fell on her brothers, one of whom sells vegetables while the other works as a driver. Despite financial challenges, Haseena dreamed of continuing her education and becoming financially independent so she could support her family. In 2022, she joined the two-year Vision Technician Training Program at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot. During the training, she gained professional skills, confidence, and personal growth. After successfully completing the course, she secured placement at Banda City Clinic, Uttar Pradesh, where she now serves the community as a Vision Technician. Today, Haseena contributes financially to her household and has become confident and self-reliant. The course has given her dignity, independence, and a new identity in society.
