As we enter the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for the dedication, compassion, and hard work you bring to Piedmont Community Services every day. The holidays remind us of what matters most: love, togetherness, kindness, and the opportunity to slow down and appreciate the people who make life meaningful. My hope is that each of you finds time this season to rest, recharge, create memories, and enjoy the company of those you hold dear. I also want to extend a special thank you to our staff who will continue serving individuals and families throughout the holidays. While many are able to step away and celebrate, your commitment ensures that those who depend on our services continue to receive the care and support they need. Your sacrifice and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful. As we reflect on another year of service, I am reminded that the strength of Piedmont Community Services lies in its people. Thank you for the difference you make in the lives of those we serve, for the support you show one another, and for the heart you bring to our mission. On behalf of our leadership team, I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful, joyful, and restorative holiday season. ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARDSABOVE AND BEYOND AWARDSContinued on the next page... FERNANDA MARTIN ABBY WHITE P G . 1 0 Fernanda has shown an exceptional ability to work toward solutions that are cost effective and provide efficiency to the agency. She has offered several creative and successful staffing solutions this year. She is willing to work with other divisions to maximize efficiency and takes into consideration the needs of the direct service providers, blending the two divisions together for optimal effect. Abby went above and beyond her normal job duties by taking time during her lunch break to assist me with learning how to put gas in the car. Although this was outside her regular responsibilities, she willingly provided guidance and support in a pleasant and patient manner. Her initiative, teamwork, and willingness to help a coworker demonstrate exceptional dedication and a positive attitude toward supporting others. Josh received a call after his working hours regarding a staff member being injured in an accident. Josh quickly drove to meet the staff member at the hospital, stayed with her through her process of getting cleared, ensured her testing was back and he did not leave her side until she was prepared for discharge. This staff member felt that Josh went above and beyond for her in her worst time. She felt very cared for by him and other members of the team. This is what makes Piedmont such a great place to work for, we stand by each other even when its not part of our "job". I feel that Josh is an excellent example of how a supervisor cares for their staff. JOSH MARTIN Aisha Newbill is being nominated for an Above and Beyond Award for her dedication and determination in assisting a client whose power had been disconnected during dangerously high summer temperatures. Aisha worked tirelessly to coordinate community resources and continued advocating well beyond normal working hours, remaining involved into the evening until assistance was secured and the client's power and air conditioning were restored. Her persistence and genuine concern for her client's safety truly exemplify going above and beyond. AISHA NEWBILL P C S N O V N E W S L E T T E R
ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARDSABOVE AND BEYOND AWARDS P G . 1 1If you have anyone you’d like to nominate, check out the nomination form on the Intranet or click here. KAT HEREDIA A Family Recovery Court client asked for assistance in checking her car for illegal substances and the Recovery Court team asked Kat for assistance. Kat came to the Franklin County office as soon as she was asked and spent over an hour, completing a thorough search of the client's vehicle, helping ensure the client's safety. Kat helped the client feel supported and safe throughout the interaction, while promoting recovery and cooperation with Piedmont staff and the participant. Tanya demonstrated exceptional dedication and teamwork during a recent shift at the Lighthouse. After working the 12:00 a.m.– 8:00 a.m. shift, Tanya received notification near the end of her shift that a child was being referred to the Lighthouse from a local elementary school. Recognizing the need for nursing coverage, Tanya willingly stayed beyond her scheduled shift to ensure the client could be safely served. During that time, two additional clients presented to the Lighthouse, resulting in three clients requiring services. Tanya remained on site while all three clients were evaluated by the PMHNP and continued providing nursing coverage until approximately 1:00 p.m.—five hours beyond the end of her scheduled shift. Tanya's willingness to step up when needed demonstrates her commitment to our clients, her team, and the mission of the Lighthouse Crisis Center. Her flexibility and dedication helped ensure that each client received timely care without interruption in nursing coverage. TANYA PALUMBO P C S N O V N E W S L E T T E R

CLINICAL CORNERCLINICAL CORNERDid You Know? This Edition's Clinical Term: Anhedonia (an-hee-DOH-nee-uh) Have you ever heard someone say, "I just don't enjoy the things I used to"? This may be a sign of anhedonia, a clinical term used to describe a reduced ability to experience pleasure or enjoyment from activities that were once rewarding. Anhedonia can affect someone's interest in hobbies, relationships, social activities, and even everyday experiences like enjoying a favorite meal. It is commonly associated with depression but can also occur with other mental health conditions. Why does it matter? Anhedonia can sometimes be mistaken for laziness, lack of motivation, or someone simply not wanting to participate. Understanding this symptom reminds us to look beyond behaviors and consider what someone may be experiencing. The takeaway: Sometimes what looks like a lack of interest is actually a symptom of something deeper. A little understanding can go a long way! We are excited to introduce a new addition to our newsletter designed to keep us informed, connected, and continually learning! We'll shine a spotlight on programs and services across our agency, share new and relevant clinical information, introduce clinical terminology, and provide helpful insights that can strengthen our knowledge and understanding. Whether you work directly with individuals receiving services or support the important work happening behind the scenes, Clinical Corner is for everyone! Our goal is to encourage curiosity, build awareness, and help us better understand the many ways we make a difference in the lives of those we serve. P C S N O V N E W S L E T T E R Stay tuned for more program highlights, clinical insights, and opportunities to learn in future editions of Clinical Corner!
