Be sure to only use courses with students who are automatically rostered to you. Adding students to a course that is not automatically rostered creates a lot of headaches for you and your students! Where are my Canvas Courses for this year?
Your course name should follow this format: Grades 2-5: Mr./Ms./Mrs./Dr. [Last Name]’s Class OR Homeroom. The course code should match the course name. Grades 6-12: The course name should include the Course Title, Class Period, Semester, and the teacher’s last name. The course code should match the course name. Renaming Courses
If you teach multiple sections of the same course, you may choose to combine your courses so that all of our students are in one Canvas course. Cross-Listing Courses Sounds Great! Show me how to cross-list my courses. I’d prefer to keep my Canvas courses separate. Let’s move to the next topic.
All cross-listing must be done before you give any assignments or grades in the course. The ONLY courses you may put students into are those that are rostered automatically from Infinite Campus. The Infinite Campus Grade Sync will not work if you put students into your Sandbox course or a course you manually create. Cross-Listing Courses

Updating Pages with Templates for the New School YearEven though you may have copied an entire course from a previous semester, or brought over individual pages into your new course, there are certain pages, like the course syllabus, that you will want to ensure are the most current pages. This video will show you how to easily access the most current page templates.
Hiding Course Navigation Items Be sure to hide all navigation items that are not essential for your students to access. All assignments, quizzes, pages, etc. should be linked in your course on the daily agenda or a specified unit page.
Please be sure to put your name and your course name on your course card so that your students can easily identify your course on their dashboard.Updating the Course Card Canva Course Card Template Click on the link below to access the Canvas templates for your school.
