MEANING OF EDUCATION IN ZEN BUDDHISMThe true student of the Way does not look to the faults of the world; he eagerly desires to seek insight. If he attains true insight in its perfect clarity, then, indeed, that is all. Lin Chi, Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE)

ZEN EDUCATION: FINDING THE MIND BEYOND WORDS Zen learning emphasizes direct insight, not reasoning or words. Koans serve as tools for awakening. Zen students are taught through non-teaching. Reading and thinking are seen as insufficient for true understanding. Zen teaches through action, not explanation. Practice is the teaching. Understanding comes from being, not just knowing.
