THE INTERVENTIONThrough the project, Aris received a custom-fitted left lower- limb prosthesis, following a comprehensive assessment of his needs. He also underwent gait and functional mobility training to help him adapt confidently to the prosthesis. His caregiver was guided on the proper use, maintenance, and care of the prosthesis, ensuring Aris receives continuous support at home while building his independence.Before receiving the prosthesis, Aris relied on crawling and was carried to school by his mother. Today, he walks independently, attends school with his friends, and enjoys playing with confidence. His improved mobility has restored his independence while significantly reducing the burden on his caregiver.THE IMPACTHis mother shares the joy of witnessing this remarkable change: "Before he received the prosthesis, we had to carry Aris everywhere, especially to school. Htiek ThuraAge/Gender: 26 years, Male Diagnosis: Left Trans-Tibial Amputation due to a landmine injury (23 February 2025) After losing his left leg in a landmine explosion, Htiek Thura faced significant challenges in his daily life. A prosthesis and rehabilitation training have helped him regain his independence, allowing him to walk confidently and return to his daily routine. #HUMANITY & INCLUSION

MIN HTET NIANG In March 2025, a landmine explosion changed Min Htet Niang's life, resulting in the loss of his lower leg. Everyday tasks became difficult, and he relied heavily on his family for mobility and daily activities. After receiving a trans-tibial prosthesis, along with gait training and rehabilitation support, Min Htet gradually regained his strength and confidence. Today, he is walking more independently, participating in daily activities, and looking ahead with renewed hope. AGE: 24 YEARS GENDER: MALE AMPUTATION: TRANS-TIBIAL (BELOW-KNEE) AMPUTATION
Standing Taller, Stepping Forward Evelyn's Journey Towards Greater Independence "We are grateful for the KAFO provided through the generous support of the donor. Even though we have only been using it for a short time, it already provides support and protection for Evelyn's leg. We are hopeful it will continue to improve her mobility and help prevent future complications. We sincerely thank the donor and the rehabilitation team for giving my daughter this opportunity." — Mrs. Duati Sailo, Evelyn's Mother NINE-YEAR-OLD EVELYN LALBIAKZAMI, WAS BORN WITH SPASTIC CEREBRAL PALSY. DESPITE HER CHALLENGES, SHE CONTINUES TO ATTEND GILEAD SPECIAL SCHOOL, WHERE SHE RECEIVES REGULAR REHABILITATION SUPPORT. Following an assessment, Evelyn was provided with a Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO) along with gait training, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and caregiver guidance. Although she has only recently begun using the orthosis, it is already improving her stability, supporting better lower-limb alignment, and making mobility training safer and less physically demanding for her caregiver.
Our Intervention HI provided a right trans-tibial prosthesis along with gait training, stump care, strengthening exercises, and guidance on prosthesis use and maintenance. Poe Ei and along with her caregiver also received training to ensure safe and effective use."My name is Poe Ei. I am very happy to receive Artificial leg. Before I get My Leg, my life was very difficult. I cannot walk good and always need help from other people. Going outside, doing daily work, and moving from one place to another was not easy for me". Impact The prosthesis helped Poe Ei regain mobility and confidence. She can now walk more safely, perform daily activities independently, and rely less on others.
On 4 December 2021, during the conflict, Niang Leng lost her right leg. She received her first transfemoral prosthesis through HI's rehabilitation program.
