Aurelia’s Magnificent Glow

deep in the grand, shimmering blue lived a little jellyfish named Aurelia. She wasn't like the quick, darting fish or the slow, creeping crabs.1

Aurelia was a pulsing, drifting sparkle of light. She didn't have lungs to breathe, or ears to hear, but she felt the whole ocean around her.2

Her favorite thing was the midnight ballet. When the moon was high, Aurelia would gather in the currents and drift, a beautiful, floating parade of one.3

One evening, as Aurelia pulsed past a sunken statue, she saw a little fish looking very worried. The little fish was hiding behind a piece of bright coral.4

"Oh, excuse me," whispered the little fish, whose name was Zippy. "You look so free and graceful. But... how do you know where you’re going?"5

Aurelia stopped her slow, gentle pulsing. "I know where I’m going with the water's flow, Zippy," she drifted happily. "I let the ocean guide me."6

Zippy blinked her tiny eyes. "But I need my brain to remember things, and my heart to feel brave! Don’t you have those to help you find your way back home?"7

Aurelia chimed with the tiny sounds of the sea. "It’s a magnificent fact, Zippy! A jellyfish like me doesn't have a brain or a heart. We don’t need them to live and travel!"8

"My whole body is my home," Aurelia explained. "I sense the changes in the light and the gentle tug of the tides. I follow the big, beautiful currents of the world."9

So, Zippy stopped worrying and started watching. She realized that finding your way, whether you have a brain and heart or not, is all about dancing with the beautiful, majestic flow of the ocean.THE END.10
