Jeff Jones For Town Council Integrity, Experience, Results The JONES for YOU
I’ve been married to my wife Freda for over 45+ years. We have resided in Smyth County since 1993, moving from Lee County, Virginia to further advance my career with the Virginia Department of Transportation and allow new and better opportunities for our family. We moved to the West End in town limits in 2009 and have resided there since. I have two children, Ben Jones (wife Katherine Tucker-Jones) and Ashley Blevins (husband Derrick Blevins). My son Ben and his wife Katherine are both dedicated First Sergeants with the Virginia State Police in the Richmond Virginia Area. My daughter Ashley is an Investigator with the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation and also resides in the town limits. I have three wonderful grandchildren, Meah Tolliver, Theo Jones, and Bentley Jones. During my 40-year tenure at the VDOT, I worked through the ranks. Beginning my career as an operator, I completed my career as the Maintenance Operations Manager for the Abingdon Residency, overseeing 2 counties, 8 area headquarters, and over 90 employees. Where the rubber meets the road. With 40 years of dedication to the Commonwealth of Virginia as a proven leader with the Virginia Department of Transportation, I have dedicated my life to community service. If elected, I will listen to the people, be transparent, work to keep Chilhowie safe, financially responsible, a great place to live and raise a family. Every decision I will make will be guided by one simple question, “Is this in the best interest of the people of Chilhowie?” Why should we still have faith in small-town government? Because it’s the one level of government where every citizen still has a real voice. In a town like Chilhowie, your elected officials are your neighbors. We shop in the same stores, attend the same churches, and care about the same schools, roads, and public safety. When government is local, it’s personal. We can hold our leaders accountable, ask questions face-to- face, and work together to solve problems. I worked at VDOT for 40 years know how frustrating government can be sometimes, but I also have seen its potential to make the lives of everyday citizens better. Small-town government works best when it is honest, transparent, fiscally responsible, and willing to listen. It’s not about politics, it’s about people. It’s about fixing what needs fixing, protecting what makes our town special, and making decisions that leave our community stronger for the next generation. That’s why I still believe in good old-fashioned small-town government. When good people step up to serve with integrity, local government remains one of the greatest strengths of our democracy.
