A Joint Initiative by Centre of Excellence in Paediatrics & Neonatology, Department of Paediatric Cardiology, Aster Medcity and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Kochi Branch. This one day CME will include comprehensive scientific sessions on emerging topics in Paediatric Cardiology which will be useful for Paediatricians in their day-to-day practice. One day CME will feature a distinguished faculty panel comprising Senior Paediatric Cardiologist, Senior Paediatricians and Experts in Paediatric Sub- Specialties. This CME will be dedicated to the memory of our beloved mentor, late Dr. P C Alexander. One of the most respected Paediatricians in the country and one of the founding doctors of the Aster Centre of Excellence in Paediatrics & Neonatology. He was an exceptional human being who touched innumerable lives. Dr. P C Alexander continues to inspire us, in every step of the way. One of the most respected Pediatricians in India and one of the founding doctors of the Centre of Excellence in Paediatrics & Neonatology at Aster Medcity, Kochi, Dr P C Alexander made a difference to innumerable lives during his 28 years of service in India and Oman. His expertise in child health, developmental pediatrics, community pediatrics and adolescent medicine are unparalleled. A great humanitarian and fervent advocate of child protection and rights, Dr P C Alexander also established the Aster Sick Kids (ASK) Foundation, which lends a helping hand to deserving children with life-threatening illnesses. Dr P C Alexander attained his MBBS from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He went on to pursue DCH, followed by MD in General Pediatrics from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. Dr P C Alexander was awarded Fellowships by the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, United Kingdom, Royal College of Physicians And Surgeons of Glasgow, Royal College of Physicians, Ireland and American College of Chest Physicians. Dr P C Alexander worked with several leading Pediatric colleges across the world including the Department of Child Health, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman, Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, United Kingdom, Royal College of Physicians And Surgeons of Glasgow and Royal College of Physicians, Ireland as Professor/ Examiner. The founder member of the Oman Medical Association, Oman Pediatric Society and Oman Respiratory Society, he held key positions in various organisations under the Ministry of Health, including National communicable Disease Centre, set up by the EMRO, WHO and the National Toxicology Centre. Dr P C Alexander received several recognitions for his selfless services including the Pravasi Award for contribution to migrant health care and Best Doctor, Best Post Graduate Teacher and Best Undergraduate Teacher Awards instituted by the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.
